We picked up a couple of ribeyes the other day. I salted them for 24 hrs and grilled them 2 min on a side....WOW! Definitely the best beef we've had in a long, long time! We bought sausages and hotdogs as well...can't wait to tuck into them!! read more

At the risk of sounding sensational and salacious the ribeye I got here and cooked at home was one of the best things I've ever eaten. I still prefer smoked frankfurters to the raw version you can find here, and I found the basil flavor in the basil italian sausage sort of off putting (like it was a basil-oil that permeated the entire filling rather than being herb-flecked which I would have preferred). At the end of the day, nothing beats the steak. Take home a prime cut and take care. read more

I won't be buying anything from Panizzera anymore. Watch out for their pricing. I didn't today. As a loyal customer I didn't pay attention to the per pound cost for skirt steak. Over the last 16 months or so, they raised their prices from $13/lb for skirt steak to the $21.99/lb they charged today. There's plenty of other places to shop for steak. There's nothing special about theirs anyway. It's not grass fed, pasture raised, organic or anything else that sets them apart from other places. It doesn't even say where it's from. Customer service above and beyond excellent! I went to Andy's to pick up a slab of their extraordinary short ribs and arrived a little too late as they were sold out. The very nice girl at the counter let me know there would be more tomorrow, which was no problem for me. I let her know I would be back the next day and of course other things came up and I wasn't able to get it. I went back the next day and there weren't any in the glass case...it was the day before Memorial Day and I'm sure they sold it all. The girl said she recognized me even with my mask on and proceed to pull out 2 beautiful slabs of short ribs. She thoughtfully put them aside because she knew I would be back and life happens. On one rainy day in Occidental we decided to have some grilled sausages. My husband who works nearby was usually stopping by Panizzera Meat and I knew the quality was excellent. But when I came to check them, I was lost - different varieties of sausages - spicy and mild, Italian and German styles. I got kid's friendly bratwursts and, honestly, they were the BEST EVER! Moreover, I was really delighted to find some rare gems such as grass fed beef liver and bones for broth and much more in their freezer. I'm so happy Panizzera Meat is in our lovely town! read more

Terrible. I bought some of their "Breakfast Links" which ended up just being basically a package of ground up meat. There were no links. Since they have no customer service information on their website, I had to dig up a phone number for them so that I could get some clarification about why their links are just ground up mush. What kind of company doesn't have some sort of current contact info on their website? That in itself is a bit worrisome. Anyhow, I finally got in touch with someone who gave me the number for Ryan, who is apparently one of the new owners. I left him a message. He called back, concerned that I left a bad review on Yelp, and offered to "make it right". He said what happened was that some of their sausage went out labeled wrong. So even though the label said "Breakfast Links" it was actually the ground up version of their breakfast sausage that I got. Ok, fair enough. So I called him back and left a voicemail, told him I changed my review to something more positive, and asked him to call me back so that we could figure out how to get me the correct sausage replacement. I waited for 2 months and he never returned my call. These guys do not care about their product quality or their customers. So now it's back to a 1 star review. Honestly, I would not trust this company because they can't even label their product right which makes me wonder -- what else is being overlooked? And then when a customer notifies them of a problem, they can't even truly follow up on it. Maybe next time I should call the Sonoma County Health Department. read more

We've been eating their sausages for years. Never had a greasy one, always taste great. The recent addition of cut beef, stocked at the local quickie mart, is the best food thing to hit this town in some time. After purchasing the ground beef and steaks several times and loving them, I picked up a 3# tri-tip (at 9:55pm) for a last minute BBQ invite last weekend. I'd a paid a lot more for that at Fiesta or anywhere else the next morning. 55 minutes in the BBQ and a 10 minute rest produced one of the tenderest, tastiest tri-tips ever. There is no way this beef isn't aged. A clean shop with conscientious meat cutters and friendly, informative staff. Where our meat comes from matters a lot to us. read more

Bought the chicken apple sausage today at FirCrest Market in Sebastopol...it was the first time I had seen their products and FirCrest was featuring them...something like 8 varieties were in the meat case near the Applegate and other uncured sausages, including chicken and pork based.
