New find! Whenever…read morein the area, we've been stopping at Freestone to visit Wild Flour Bread bakery. We often continue on to Occidental before heading East to HWY 101 to get back home. Freestone Artisan Cheese is on your left as you are going towards Occidental on Bohemian Hwy immediately after you pass Freestone Hotel. It kind of hides back there in the corner where Freestone Road curves. I have no clue how long they have been on that location, but the first time I noticed them was our last trip to Freestone. Freestone Artisan Cheese is nice little shop with many varieties of delicious cheeses of course, but they sell more than just cheese. They sell excellent olive oil, Vinegar, Pasta, jams, preserves and more. On this stop we tried and purchased a couple of cheeses and olive oil that we enjoyed with our bread from Wild Flour Breas bakery. The young lady who was behind the counter was very helpful in explaining the different varieties of cheese that were there for us to try. We had to be somewhere so could not spend as much time as we wanted there, but next time we will make sure to dig deeper into the cheese world at Freestone Artisan Cheese!

I've been going here for years now and they are the nicest most wonderful people who give good tours and have wonderful silly and snuggly baby goats! They give you real time with them and don't have a forced amount of time on each part of the tour - unlike Harley goat farm. You can skip the tour and just hung with the baby goats the whole time if you want! Also can come early or stay late depending on when if there's another tour that day. I get enough time with the baby goats - and I loooove baby goats so that's saying something! Bring a meal if you want to eat and hangout at their picnic tables. I've gotten to milk the goats a few times, feed the adults, be there for a goat birth (just happened while on the tour!), and have all the baby goat snuggles and silliness. Love the family farm, love the folks who run the baby goat tours/visits. Also a cute town to go into after for food, beverage, also wine tastings nearby. I recommend a second set of clothes to change into after in case you get dirty (goats are relatively clean, but they're goats so not like indoor pets. I let the baby goats climb all over me.)

It led us down a dirt path wide enough for only one car to pass and we came to a very old barn at the end with a super tiny building where the cheese was stored and a small counter where the goods were sold! A lady who speaks Spanish and only enough English to sell a chunk of cheese arrived on the scene to give us samples of 3, 9 and 14 month aged cheese. Each cheese was progressively more firm the longer it was aged. Wowww! I didn't even know what I had been missing out on until now. All these years, I have missed out on fresh cheese made straight from a milked cow on a farm! Who knew there was such a difference?? Our very favorite was the 3 month old cheese. So creamy, fresh, soft and perfect in every way. Best cheese I've ever had, even better cheese than we we've had in Wisconsin. I don't know if I can ever appreciate supermarket cheese again. Cheese was $10/lb. We initially bought half a pound, then we brought it to the museum and nearly finished the whole chunk before we were craving for more and decided to go back for another pound! It was that good! The detour added another 45 mins of traffic to our journey but we felt it was worth it. If you're ever in the area, stop by to grab a pound or more of cheese! The only problem we had was that we didn't know how to store it. We refrigerated it and I'm not sure if we were supposed to do that bc the cheese ended up getting pretty hard :(. But we couldn't ask how to store it properly and for how long because the lady didn't speak enough English.

It was a small room with one lady there just ready to sell you the cheese lol. Follow signs for Cheese Factory. When you see the Cheese Factory sign on a window with a business hours sign, you are there! Park in the dirt randomly - there are no clear indications of parking spots or a parking lot. Which is why I knocked off one star, my poor car had to drive through manure because I drove in too far lol and now I need a car wash. Learn from my mistakes! Highly recommend the tasty cheese and feels good to support a local farm.

The tour is more expensive in comparison to other cheese tours that we've seen in Petaluma, $35 plus tax, but those cheese aren't made with water buffalo milk. With this tour, you get a super informative history/back story of the founders. It is quite the story and could be made into a Hallmark movie. Their story is really inspiring and you can see how passionate they are about their company, product, and water buffaloes. The owner, Audrey, has a hand in every part of the business, and does most of the work, with help from a handful of employees. Please schedule a tour here to support this small company that has ethical and sustainable business practices. I believe every dollar from the tour really helps with their bottom line and I think they really need it as the owner does most of the work herself to cut cost. The highlight of the tour, other than the cheese tasting was getting to pet and brush the water buffaloes until they'd fall over from euphoria.

I went to grab my coffee order & get my day started. This hidden gem was located next to 'Hi-Tide Laundromat' right behind an oasis of plants. There is a large floor marker that reads 'locally roasted coffee' & I knew I had found the spot. A quaint space with a small ordering lobby & a couple of chairs, window-front. The small cafe offered an assortment of drink options, so I checked out the menu. After a quick study of the menu I went with the 'Whipped CBD Honey Latte' iced. Sounded like a nice way to get me a 'up' a little & down a little. Iykyk. My drink was carefully yet quickly crafted by a friendly gentleman staff member. I forgot to mention wanting to request a milk alternative but was asked just before it was added making it easy to adjust before receiving my drink. My gut thanks you, kind sir. I stepped outside to the plant cloaked patio to enjoy my drink. My drink [Whipped CBD Honey Latte] was tasty & refreshing. Perfect midday pick me up.. Rich coffee complimented with a hint of honey & ice to perfection. My only wish was that it was a little sweeter but otherwise this was 'the perfect cup'! I'll certainly be back to fuel up another day & will turn up the sweetness a notch. Thank for making a gorgeous cup of joe & for hosting my coffee experience! Cheers to a successful 2024!

My kids had such a great time. Then we took a tour of the property, visiting the 7 month old kids, and then feeding the older goats with branches and leaves, which were a big treat for the goats since they normally eat hay so they were enthusiastic! We also saw the area where the goats are milked, got a few walnuts from the walnut tree, and walked around the garden. This is a fun tour for kids, and the whole experience took 55 minutes including lining up for hand washing before and after. We bought tickets several weeks in advance though I'm not sure if we needed to.
