I happened to pop in out of curiousity when I saw a darling rack of vintage. The store owner greeted me almost immediately but in a fun cutesie nice way no pressure. We chatted as I perused and I saw entirely too many adorable things. They have the keenest eye for fashion. I had to cut myself off so I didn't buy the whole store. Every single item is there with intention. Whether you dig jewelery, history, fashion, books it doesn't matter there WILL be something you love there. read more

One of my favorite stores to visit since Dax & Smitty have excellent taste. Their displays are brilliant vignettes of exotic, ecletic antique wonders I hadn't realized existed, but were just what I was searching for. Their botanical section is also marvelous, with a great selection of sun or shade plants for those of us lucky to live with redwoods. They're quite knowledgeable when suggesting the perfect plant & what it will & will not do in your space. The whole store is a visual creative treat that is tops for a happy places in town to be in. Thx, guys. read more

Places like Sonoma Nesting Company make Guerneville an antique lover's paradise! First, we stopped in the garden in front to peruse all of the lovely plants that they have for sale. It definitely had secret garden vibes. Then we stepped inside and were transported by the amazing curation of items the owners have put together. You can tell there's a lot of love and thought put into the place. And everything is reasonably priced! We could have spent hours there and can't wait to come back with a bigger car lol. read more

This is the coolest shop! We were visiting Guerneville for a few days and stopped in. The owners were incredibly friendly with our kids and their pooch was so sweet. Would definitely stop back in again if we're in the area! read more

1st of all I fell in love with a piece in the store and they gave me a very reasonable price, with delivery! They came, they installed, they helped me with some decor questions and just went way beyond anything expected. Maybe they took pity on a lady senior citizen living alone, but my gut tells me everything had to do with their kind hearts. It's no wonder Dax and Smitty have been in business so long. With a marketing background, I can tell you, there is a lot of customer satisfaction that can't be analyzed and these guys have tapped into it read more

This place is fantastic! Dax and Smitty are very involved business owners with great taste and generous hearts. Everything is reasonably priced as well, and there are houseplants galore. Hands down Sonoma Nesting Company is one of my favorite vintage shops. They carry an eclectic mix of items that tend to be on the mid-century mod tip but feature a bit of everything in their cozy but ample shop space. I've purchased some Blenko glass decanters here as well as an owl planter and trust me if I had the space and money more of their funky wares would be coming home with me. Located right near the Russian River, this is a must stop even if you are en route to other local adventures. They have a small parking lot but there is also plenty of nearby street parking. Absolute gem of a shop and hope they remain in the area for a long time to come. Very reasonable prices and one-of-kind finds. read more

Beautiful, quaint place with beautiful owners (and plants)! Walking in this nursery was like walking in adult Disneyland for me. Whenever I visit Guerneville, I cannot leave without visiting Sonoma Nesting company and not leaving without a unique plant with a story behind it. All my boys in Palm Springs are going to get jealous when I say I have found my new favorite vintage shop. But here it is; I love Sonoma Nesting Company! Proprietors Dax and Smitty are the best! I almost don't want this to get out and save all the luscious finds for myself! Their furniture pieces are Devine, especially the ones they paint themselves. Each one is a work of art!! You'll find something to suit many tastes and new pieces in all the time. But if you find something you like, snatch it up quickly as their pieces go fast! Not only are they beautiful but priced right!! And don't forget to take a stroll through their tranquil little oasis outside but becareful, once that soothing fountain beckons you in you'll have a hard time leaving. .and you never know what you might find out there for your own little oasis!! One last thing, I'd give the boys 10 stars but yelp will only allow me 5. Thanks Smitty and Dax..see you soon!! read more

Dax was super funny and awesome to chat with. I asked him about some items that I peeked without a price on it and he told me a little bit about the item and his desire to keep it, but he ended up parting ways with the item at an incredibly fair price. They asked for my information to put on on a contact list for events at the store, and I'm glad I gave it to them because it will give me a reason to come back to Gurneville and enjoy time on the river. I'm looking forward to coming back and talking more with the shopkeepers about crystallizing stuff. read more

Popped in on Saturday on my way to Sisters Bingo. I fell in love. Pete Doolittle. Nothing like a piece of art that just grabs you and kidnaps your heart. I now have a wonderful octopus with a floating alien baby in ridiculous pop colors hanging on my wall. Thank you Sonoma Nesting Co. I would just move in if I could. But, as it stands, I will just have to come and pilfer your wonderful goods one item at a time. read more

This shop is located at the gateway to Guerneville. It was once a gas station but it's been totally transformed into the coolest home furnishing and gifts shop I've seen anywhere. They take quality antiques and transform them into functional, stylish works of art -- the take grandmas old dresser and paint subway tiles on it and paint beautiful pastural vignettes on side tables. There's always something cool and stylish in their eclectic, ever-changing mix. The guys who own it are artists who reinvent an heirlooms. This is what it means to repurpose, to be green. You'll find everything you need for the home and garden at a price you can afford. They even do amazing custom projects. It's hard to categorize this curiosity shop but they seem to have something for every style, price and home. Check them out for yourself. read more

TREASURE TROVE!!! Puts any vintage shop on La Brea or Palms Springs to shame. Beautifully curated store that combines antiques, mid-century modern and art. Furniture, rugs, bric-a-brac - you name it. I just purchased an entire set of Hotel Costes CD's. $.50 each. And if that ain't a treasure, I don't know what is. Worth a drive up to Guerneville! Grab lunch and do some wine tasting along the way. read more

5 on 5 stars! My partner and I moved from SF to Sebastopol after we had twins (4-bedrooms in SF you know....) and I like Sebastopol alot -- though the fashion/interior/food/art industry is a bit not happenin', and since my move I've not gotten jump outta my skin excited about anything arty-farty in these parts until... until I was driving by the Nesting Co. Driving back from having my images framed in Guernville, I saw a sculpture sitting outside thier store and irresponsibly swerved into the parking lot to get a closer look. The Nesting Co is an indoor & outdoor parlor/gallery/collection of antiques, up & coming artists, exquisite pieces from Africa, chandeliers, taxidermy bears covered in mirror, old library card catalogs and the lovely ribbon on that package is that many MANY of the pieces are quite affordable. Im walking around all gawky, touching this and that and being inspired on my first visit. Most telling, I stay 45 minutes. I usually leave these kind of shoppes in 10 minutes. They are too often smattered with just "stuff", there lingers a forever moth-bally scent, there is often a layer of dust , the "stuff" is all too dark and I feel a heaviness in the atmosphere. Not here. I left with 2 paintings (I rarely buy art like that). I then brought Pierre (my boyfriend) back and we bought 2 more. A few weeks later we bought that taxidermy bear w mirrors, and finally, during one of their party/fund-raisers for gay pride, we bought a hand-made pillow w/ a gay fireman on it for Pierre's mom's birthday. Cant really explain that one. And I guess that brings me to Dax & Smitty the Nesting Co's purveyors who I met while visiting their store. They are characters and I love em. They DO support artists both local and national. They love what they have and it shows. They are bright and funny too. Im not stroking. Its true. If you want a comparisson, the only thing that comes to mind is Paxton Gate in SF. Make the trip. Its worth it. Peaz out. read more

Every time I visit my best friends in Forestville and Guernville, we always make time to stop at the Sonoma Nesting Company. I've bought a few decorative vases, and my friends have gotten several mirrors in various sizes for their homes, all of which have worked out perfectly. I'm a serious fan and collector of Dax & Smitty's work. They produce some of the most beautiful pieces of furniture I've seen. They have a very skilled hand and keen eye for color and beauty. I really can't say enough words of adoration for their gorgeous creations and their absolutely cool shop they run. Don't miss a stop at their shop in Guerneville if you are around Russian River/Sonoma Coast area. You're bound to find something truly special to bring home with you! ;-) read more

These guys are the best! Great selection of goods, reasonable pricing and excellent service. This place is a little treasure hunt for me and I love it! This place has neat pieces of art, pottery, furniture, garden accessories and more! I even love the music they play while I'm looking at all their goodies! Dax, is a doll! He really gave me some great ideas for my courtyard & showed me neat things I could do without having to make a purchase. Of course, Smitty was just as charming and so was their dog! I ended up purchasing a huge but beautiful pottery platter (that I will convert into a lazy susan) and a Morrocan vase; but more than anything I was amazed at the personal attention that was given to me and my husband. I will go back for sure. read more
