The owner has the typical New Yorker vibe--blunt and a fun character overall. We went with the chicken cutlet with prosciutto, artichoke, fontina, and herb sauce, along with the sausage with cheese and added broccoli rabe. Between the two, I'd get the chicken for sure. It was pretty tasty, but I must say I wasn't as blown away as I'd expected. The sausage sandwich got a bit soggy from all of the marinara (which I wasn't expecting based on the description), so I was less excited about it. It was way too much food for two people. Like one sandwich is plenty for two, but I got greedy with wanting to try too much. We had a ton leftover! I would have probably rated it 3.5 stars, but the German roach running around pained me to see and stole my appetite. I'd want to say I'd come back and try one of those delicious sounding breakfast sandwiches, but roaches are a hard sell for me.

The pickled filling wasn't overly vinegary, which I liked. Bread was good, nothing crazy. I do wish they went heavier on the mayo and pâté because it could have used a little more moisture. Grilled Pork Banh Mi - 4.5/5 Pretty much the same strengths as the chicken version. Good meat, solid flavor, good bread, and a nice balance of fillings. Could still use a little more sauce, but overall really good. Triple Ham Banh Mi - 4/5 Decent, but not exactly how I like my banh mi. It was a little dry for me. It took guts for the owner of this establishment to put it where they did. You first need to understand that Panino Rustico is not in the ideal location, there are no other restaurants around it and it's surrounded by a mostly residential area that also has distributors, a 99 cent store and a tax preparer. To put a fantastic little cafe/Italian restaurant in this area was genius, and hopefully this will be the start of better surrounding establishments! Panino Rustico is done right, it's small but has a charm like no other place in the area besides Mona Lisa cafe about 6 blocks away. My wife had gone here a few times with friends and raved about it so i gave it a shot. Before i get to the food, keep in mind the place is small so seating during prime hours could take a while, and they do have outdoor seating too. It's safe to say i love everything about Panino Rustico! The menu is simple and at the same time extensive. There's a small list of antipastos, soups and salads... I started with a "small" option Caesar salad that was huge so my wife and i shared. The lettuce was fresh and crispy and the Caesar dressing was creamy but not too rich. There were also a ton of croutons and cheese shavings to top it off. The 'bread and butter' of the restaurant is basically a laundry list of panini or wrap options! Fortunately there's a "make your own" option so i went with that. I constructed a wrap with avocado, fresh mozzarella, sun dried tomato, basil, lettuce, oil and regular tomato. It was served with a side of greens and was fabulous! The wrap was put together well and toasted properly so i have zero complaints. Dessert is the other main attraction at this charming establishment! A vast selection of crepes, shakes, smoothies, coffee and gelato makes Panino Rustico a great destination for a date or an after dinner snack. Once again the "make your own" option comes into play for the crepes so i went all out! I went with the banana and nutella crepe with caramel drizzle and whipped cream, it was so good that i attempted to order a second until my wife stepped in and said otherwise. Once again, i have to commend the person who put this place here because it's perfect in every way and adds a great food destination for people in the neighborhood. It can't be understated how important it is to have a cool new place to go to where you can fill up on fantastic food and not break the bank! Our salad, sodas, wraps and crepes came out to $35, can't beat that! Highly recommended! One of the best in the area for sure. read more

The recent decline in quality and consistency at this long-standing eatery is a disappointing turn for loyal patrons. For three years, customers reveled in flavorful paninis that delighted the taste buds. However, recent changes have veered off course. The portion sizes and meat quality have noticeably dwindled, yet prices remain unchanged--a disheartening shift for faithful mobile orderers. The inconsistency in taste has prompted a departure from their once-beloved menu items. While reminiscing about the past satisfaction, it's regrettable to witness such a decline in a place that was once a go-to spot for delicious paninis. read more

I come in almost every other day. The food can't get no better. I been eating at the cafe since it opened and the P20 never gets old. The service is amazing too but I came to eat this morning and realized a new trainee named Britney. She use to work for a relative of mine and she is BAD news. I am a loyal costumer and I don't want to see your business get hurt because of a mistake hiring the wrong people. I feel like it will bring problems to your business and I wouldn't want to see that. I won't get into details but please watch out. This place had been a god sent and a blessing to this neighborhood. read more
