I have been to a lot of Panera Bread places, but by far this one in Palm Bay succeeded my expectations. I believe the reason for this is Barbara. She was incredibly kind. She was very courteous. I loved her character. She helped me choose. What kind of sandwich would meet my satisfaction, and I just thought she was the greatest. I really hope that the other people that work here model how Barbara is with customers. Hats off to you, Barbara it was great meeting and talking with you. We will be back. read more

Absolutely disgusting. If I could rate 0 stars I would. My sandwich was drenched in Italian sauce to the point the bottom half of the sandwich was soggy, and the top was half burnt. Also 2 slices of lunch meat is also not enough for the enormous loafs of bread they use for the sandwiches. Came in here on Easter about a hour before close and was greeted by a sweet lady. Believe it or not. My husband has never had Panera . He ordered like a prime rib toasted sandwich and devoured it . Spoke with an initial worker to call in a CURBSIDE PICKUP ORDER who immediately placed the call on hold. No worries. When she came back on the line she had NO IDEA what was on the menu. After talking to her for at least 10 minutes I calmly asked for a supervisor. Dwayne said he was the on duty manager got on the phone. Wow what a mistake this was!! Dwayne was the absolute rudest, impatient and unprofessional person I have ever talked too. He quickly informed me that one of the items I ordered, the mac and cheese would not be ready for 30 minutes. I informed hum that the last employee I spoke to said not to come for 30 minutes to pick up the order so that would be ok. He rudely insisted it would not be ready so I told him to forget it. I then asked for 2 FULL SIZE baguettes since I was ordering 2 large GROUP soups and he asked if I wanted sides and I said just the bread so he then tried to charge me for the baguettes??!! I said doesn't this come on the side?? He was loud and rude so I merely reciprocated and then he got angry with me??!! I specifically asked for the bread not to be cut into pieces. I wanted the baguettes to be whole so they didn't get stale. He had an issue with this. Actually he had an issue with everything I asked for and yet somehow he is the manager. So 10 more minutes went by but after wasting 20 minutes of my time and nearly 15 minute drive to get there, the mac and cheese still mysteriously would not be ready to serve. Maybe this manager should have cooked more when he was getting low in the first place??!! The GROUP soups are around 22 dollars each and supposedly serve 4 people?? No way. This is merely a quart of soup and barely filled 2 small bowls! What a rip off! I am feeding four people and was hoping for leftovers but sadly there are not any. So basically 44 dollars for less than one bowl of soup and some bread. UGH! Wow. Just wow. I have never had an issue with this Panera Bread before and hope that this manager was merely having a bad night but somehow I highly doubt it. I don't know how you can work in the food service or customer service industry and treat customers, especially returning customers, this way and stay in business. Thankfully there are many other establishments to eat at here in this area. Someone will have to actually pay me to return and take nastiness like this again. Stopped inside at this location last night for the first time. They were busy and there was a line with about 5 people in front of us, so we headed over to the empty kiosk to order. The line moved very quickly though. We got our food pretty fast considering how many people were also dining in. The employee calling peoples orders was nice, and another employee was thoroughly cleaning off dirty tables so everything looked nice and tidy. Our food was great! If there is one restaurant recognized for the fast casual movement in restaurants, it is easily going to be Panera Bread. When they first came around, they were like no other restaurant before. Far better than fast food yet not as tedious as a traditional dine-in either. When Panera Bread opened up in the Melbourne/Palm Bay area, it was a big deal. I have to say it was one of the better restaurant experiences I had at the time. Now more than a decade later, Panera Bread is still around, but they had to change for the times which I am afraid to say may have cut its edge just a tad bit. Panera Bread (which I will shorthand simply to Panera for the remainder of this review) is located just north of Palm Bay Rd. in the Hammock Landing shopping area. Just so you know, it is technically in Melbourne despite being on Palm Bay Rd. Upon entering, you will be greeted to an atmosphere of upscale casual. Better seating and decor than fast food restaurants but not as fancy as certain dine-in restaurants. You go up to the counter and order your food in which choices range from artisan breads, soups, sandwiches, coffee shop selections, and the like. I personally loved their paninis when they first opened. Prices for food are averaged around $10 so it won't break your wallet. I would suggest the combo of half a sandwich and a cup of soup. As of now, said combo has evolved to include other choices such as half a serving of macaroni and cheese or a side salad. Finally, the staff is generally friendly (depending on who works there at the time) and the restrooms are clean (generally). The only unfortunate thing I saw over the years with Panera was the change in prices as well as portion sizes. Before, the portion sizes were bigger. Now they've been reduced. Not only that, the prices for said portions went up. Shouldn't it go the other direction? Despite that little hiccup, Panera is still one of the better dining options if you want something more than fast food but don't have the time to dine-in. On the other hand, the place just has enough of an ambiance to make it an extension of the workplace. This Panera is located in West Melbourne, Florida (South of Saytona) so we took Exit 176 off of highway I-95. This is some of the best service I have had at a Panera. Food was good. I could not detect any salad dressing on my Modern Greek (salad) so when I mentioned that more dressing was offered even though I was assured some dressing was already tossed in the salad. Something new: This Panera gives the customer the option to TIP at the register. Yes, a gratuity. My experience was not worth the price. My bread bowl was more bread than bowl (had exactly 6 small spoonfuls of soup, and it hadn't even soaked into the bread as an excuse), the coffee was bland, and the edges on the cookie were to hard to eat. I'm a huge fan of Panera, but this location just isn't up to the Panera standard at all. The portion sizes are always different (and way too small) compared to other Panera's, they turn off their soups/macs at 8pm but they're open until 9:30. If you come through at 9:15p you're going to get lukewarm soup at best and you'll be told that "it's just the way we do things" and "call corporate if you don't like it." I was also given a half bowl of Mac and cheese and was told that they had ran out and "hoped I wouldn't notice" the half serving when I ordered a large. Um.. what! When I've asked for a manager I consistently get a smaller blonde girl who is on a power trip with a horrible attitude. She wouldn't even return my money because her "registers were closed" but they didn't close for another 10 minutes? Come on now. We find Panera Bread to be an average place at best. Usually get the bread bowl soup. it's pretty exciting as you have soup and a bread roll! Somehow this unusual bread does not absorb the soup, does not get soggy, is really hard to eat. I don't think you're supposed to eat the bread bowl but I have to do so every time and everytime I say I don't think I'm supposed to to eat this bread bowl having said that I'll probably try to eat the bread bowl again next time. Service is always good, the food is ok as we said before pretty average not really a stand out lunch or dinner place. But they give you so much bread you better just love carbs in your diet.
