Wow, what a find. We stop in here every chance we get. The plot twist....its in a gas station. The food is fantastic and for a gas station, it's Uber clean. We started with their tamales. Fantastic. Like the best I've had in a long time. The tamale itself was soft and tasted great. I could have eaten five of them. They are topped with pork that is so flavorful, I cannot even put it into words. Next up was their cubano sandwich. Fantastic. The bread was crispy and the meats, including that incredible pork was just perfect. I've had cubanos before, but this one was exceptional. Just the right meat to bread ratio. We finished with their Maduros. These are sweet plantains cooked perfectly. The sweetness melts in your mouth. Fantastic. Bottom line, don't judge a book by its cover. It might be in a gas station, but the food is great. Give it go whether you are Cuban or not. You will love it. read more

Given the fact I live in Florida, I am highly exposed to Cuban food all over the place. It is probably one of the foods our state is known for being the best at. I mean Cuba is less than 100 miles off the coast of Miami! With that in mind, I understand Cuban food has become quite mainstream here and can be good or bad depending on what you expect. For Henry's Cuban Cafe, I consider it the "Fast Casual" of Cuban food here and if you take that into account, they are easily five stars. For starters, the prices on all their food are not bad. Everything seems to be less than $15 which includes their sandwiches, lunch specials, etc. Pertaining to this, I ordered their Ropa Vieja (Old Clothes) lunch special and Cuban sandwich. Once again, for "fast casual," it is excellent. But if you want to compare their food to, let's say, Tree of Life Cuban Cafe or Hemingway's Tavern, you'll taste the difference. However, it would be unfair to compare "fast casual" to a "specialty shop" (Tree of Life) or a "traditional casual" (Hemingway's Tavern) restaurant. Henry's even tries to "think outside of the box" which may or may not be a good thing depending on who you are. For example, they have a "Cuban burrito." I know some traditionalist Mexican connoisseurs are having an aneurysm but to be fair, all food is an innovation from something else right? Ultimately, for a "fast casual" restaurant, it is a five star place. Don't expect more than that and definitely don't expect less. You're getting what you pay for and it is good especially if you want something quick that isn't fast food. read more

After months of searching for good tasting Cuban food, we decided to drive to Palm Bay to Checkout Henry's Cuban cafe for hot food. We've been to their satellite location to get breakfast items but didn't offer hot food. This location is inside a gas station. That ladies working the counter were very friendly and attentive. They had the hot food visible to make your decision easier. That had ropa vieja, picadillo, tamales, pork chunks, and desserts. You can eat there as they have a few tables or you can order to go like we did. The food was great tasting. Big portions. Highly recommend if you are looking for authentic Cuban food. read more

Henry's Cuban Cafe is located in a gas station in Palm Bay, Florida. It is not far off on Interstate 95, so it can appeal to both locals and travelers of the highway. We were of the latter, heading back to Orlando from a business trip down to Fort Lauderdale. The interior is pretty straightforward and nothing fancy. In fact, you can see the design from the gas station that this was. The service here is extremely friendly, personable, outgoing and a definite benefit to this restaurant. I went with the rope vieja with rice, beans and yuca. I also ordered a papa rellena, which is a potato ball and a personal favorite of mine whenever I am in a Cuban restaurant. As a testimony of the personable staff, the woman behind the counter told us the translation of "ropa vieja" (which I already knew). I also asked for a hot sauce and the personable woman behind the counter handed me some and proclaimed it the "best in the world." Again, she truly is an asset to the restaurant. The hot sauce was definitely pretty good. Sadly though, the food itself was pretty mediocre. The yuca was good, the rice and beans were not too good and the rope vieja was, well, mediocre. My papa rellena was lacking in both the meat inside and the flavor overall. I will have to give it three stars. read more

It's located on the corner of Emerson and Jupiter, parking has been easy the few times I've gone (medium sized private parking lot). Ordering is pretty quick and my empanadas and coladas (cuban coffee) with sugar we're prepared very quickly. I haven't tried their cuban sandwiches or hot foods yet but they look delicious in the display cases. There's a small bar by the ordering counter you can sit at or there are more tables inside for indoor dining. They provide hand sanitizer and there is no mask requirements for customers or employees (as of Jan 2022). I was needing a pick me up and when I saw this place it reminded me of Miami and was satisfied with the colada. My plus one liked the empanadas so I had to come back a few days later to try them. Feels like a hidden gem in Palm Bay when you want a taste of Cuban cuisine. I would rate it 4.5 stars from my first two visits. read more

Anytime I visit my mom and sister, this place will get a daily visit from me. Their cafe con leche is on point and their pastries are very authentic and taste delicious. The locations itself is welcoming with plenty of seating, and the owners are super nice. I got to talk to the owner's wife who is very personable and just a joy to share memories. The food was spot on. I ordered a Media Noche, I have ordered this at other places and it's comes out "Americanized". But not this one - it's on the bread you expect, with the meat you expect, and with the swiss cheese you would expect - mustard too! It's an extension of nationalist feeling, ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe, your grandma. It's inseparable from those from the get-go." - A. Bourdain Palm Bay started out as a small community for lower-middle-class New Yorkers who could sell their home for $25,000 in New York and buy a virtual mansion in Palm Bay. However, with the emptying of Puerto Rico, Palm Bay is now 55% Hispanic. The plus here is that it is now filled with great, great Hispanic food. The downside is that no one and I mean no one speaks English. I mention this as Henry's Cuban Cafe popped up on my name generator and I knew I had better brush up on my Spanish before heading OTB and into the wilds of Palm Bay, FL. The first thing I noticed upon entering Henry's Cuban Cafe was how clean and spotless it was. At least this post-COVID world forced everyone to clean everything all the time. This is a good thing. As I approached the counter, reading the menu I was greeted by a gregarious lady in a most friendly and inviting manner. Sadly, I forget her name, but I did ask her for one Cuban Sandwich, some Dirty Rice, an order of Cassava, some Ground beef with potatoes and a side of Yellow Rice. As you can see by the pictures, the Cuban Sandwich was made with freshly pulled pork, in fact, you can watch them pull the pork from the spinning pig before putting your sandwich together. This is a 5-star sandwich, all day, every day. The side of Dirty Rice was cooked to perfection and oozing with Cuban flavors. Cassava (Yuca/Manioc), for those not in the know, is the South American/Caribbean answer to Idaho Russets. This portion was cooked perfectly with flavors that are absolutely luscious. The Ground Beef with potatoes is mouthwatering in and of itself! The seasoning is perfect and caused my taste buds to jump up and shout, "Aye, Carumba! This is GOOD!" Sadly, the Yellow Rice with Pigeon Peas was a tad on the dry side causing the flavor of the rice to become muted and a little understated. The Big Boy says, "If you're cruising for some authentic Cuban eats and friendly staff, Henry's Cuban Cafe in Palm Bay is your go-to destination!" On a side note, this is the first place I have ever seen that sold petrol and nothing else as far as gas station convenience stores go. Different, but opportune. read more

Although it's in a gas station this had extremely tasty Cuban food. The pressed Cuban sandwich was large, perfectly crispy and loaded with meat. Maduros were good and hot. I had the chicken nori rice and tostones locos delicious concept. A couple ban coffee and a cafe con leche and we continue our RV trip happily. I wasn't sure what to expect because it was inside the gas station but I am so glad I stopped here. It's very clean and spacious inside with some salsa music playing in the background. I had the pork tamales and a side of black beans and rice. I grew up with home made tamales and my dad always told me that when you make tamales to eat yourself you make them with a lot of meat, if you make them to sell, you make them with a lot of corn. Henry makes them to eat yourself, there was an abundance of pulled pork inside. The meat was so juicy and flavorful, the corn maize was thick and sweet with full soft kernels of corn. Being from Miami I'm used to real Cuban cuisine. My wife and I have eaten at almost all of the restaurants featuring Cuban food in brevard and most are pretty darn good but I've got to give this place a huge shout out! The food is authentic and delicious, I especially like the media noche' (midnight) sandwich ! It's toasted to perfection with the combination of roasted pork and ham with the Swiss cheese and pickles on buttered Cuban bread pressed perfectly! Not too hard or soft! Just right! This is our seventh visit and the consistency is almost amazing as everything is just as great as the last visit! We will be back every time we're in the neighborhood!
