Typically I do not review chain restaurants because with a chain you pretty much get the same thing at every location. With Panera you expect decent food, clean restaurant, good selection etc. but at this particular location you'd be caught off guard. For "fast food" it is on the pricier side so you expect a little more. We ordered off the kiosk because there appeared to be no one working the register. Food was mediocre, soup was very salty; broccoli cheddar and chicken noodle were both very salty. (Does the soup come condensed and they just didn't add enough water, milk, whatever?) They were out of mixed greens, cheese and several of the drinks in the soda fountain and in the lemonade dispenser were also out. Bathrooms were atrocious, one toilet was backed up, trash on the floor, soap dispenser was empty. Tables in the restaurant had not been wiped off. I'm capable of wiping down the table with a napkin, and I did so. The patio seating was also not clean with a large amount of trash present. Perhaps, like many places, they were short staffed today and this is not typical of this location? We won't abandon Panera nationwide because of one bad experience but heads up if you patronize this Waco location. read more

Today I went through the drive-thru to pick up my online order. The young lady at the window could not find my order so she went to get a manager to help. The manager Jessica promptly came to the window to see if she could resolve the issue. For whatever reason they had not received my order but was willing to do whatever it took to make it right. My parents and I have come here a few times together when we wanted to "treat" ourselves. I like the fact that they have a fairly healthy menu. A favorite of mine is the chicken lime salad w the black beans. I love that you can take a half salad and pair it with a serving of soup or half a Sammy. My dad likes the tomato soup. My mother likes the broccoli cheddar soup. There is a very relaxing atmosphere here ant the manager yd was very helpful. He took our order and helped me bring the plates for our order to our table. I believe the menu has the calories etc for each item. They sell bread and pastries as well. I loved the bread that comes w the plates but haven't tried the baked items. All in all a great place to go and if in a hurry they offer drive thru as well. read more

6 out of 5 times they will find a way to mess up your order (I know what I said). I have never gotten my order correct from this location. Even the parts they get "right" are wrong. If half-a**ed was a restaurant this would be it. I have been here multiple occasions thinking maybe it was just a bad day or bad crew. I can't get what I order every time I go there. I always order a bacon turkey bravo with a side baguette and a sweet tea no ice. There was no baguette, an exorbitant amount of spring mix, and ice in the unsweetened tea. The past time I asked for a bagel to eat the next morning. She asked if I wanted it sliced and toasted. I told her, "I want it sliced, but not toasted". It was not sliced. I have tried giving this store the benefit of the doubt, but they have failed every time at the simplest things. If you want Panera in Waco, go to the one by Baylor. They run it better read more

I always like to stop at Panera for lunch when I'm out on the road because I always get a good meal at a great price. This location was clean, plenty of seating, and the service was good. In ordered from the self service kiosk, and my food was out in less than 5 minutes. I had the pick 2 (1/2 Salad 1/2 Sandwich) combo, and it tasted great. Only reason for taking off a star was for small portion of chicken in the Chipotle Chicken Avocado melt. They definitely could have added more. It was definitely more bread than protein, but other than that, my experience was great! They have plenty of tables that are located close to outlets if you need to plug in your phone or computer and work. read more

Unfortunately this location of Panera in Waco, Texas did not measure up! I ordered 2 vegetarian spinach soufflé but the first I bite into was not vegetarian at all. Apparently they have put the wrong item to the wrong spot behind the display, a very amateur mistake, and should not happen when you offer healthy alternatives for food! Service was friendly, otherwise this would be a one star location, but the ladies must be new, since they offered no free treat for the mistake, although it is stated on both receipts. At least this is not as bad of a mistake as biting into the wrong kind of food when you are a vegetarian! I remember when this location was a 5 Star! I wonder what went wrong??? The furniture is nasty and the worst is the floor in front of the drink dispensers is gross sticky EVERY TIME I go in and I have to clean the bottom of my shoes when I get home. When picking up the order they advised they were out of baguette and chips and could not give us those items with our order and gave us a few cookies. My review from last year stated that my mac and cheese came out cold. I had the same experience from today's visit. Not only was it cold, but the noodles were hard and it was just completely inedible. I will probably never order this again. It's such a shame because years before this dish was sooo good. Birthday lunch I love the food here. I always do a pick 2 and get a 1/2 salad and 1/2 sandwhich and a frozen mocha. I'm always so happy with it. The restaurant is always really clean and I get my food relatively fast. My only complaint is that the cashiers always seem something to be desired.
