Panera Bread is one of those places where you simply know what to expect before you order. While the menu changes from time to time as they cycle through seasonal options they do keep the fan favorites. Although not the cheapest choice when grabbing a quick bite to eat, they are always reliably good. Especially when it comes to freshness and flavor. As far as healthy goes... well, they are a better option then most fast food restaurants, but a cautionary tail needs to be addressed as their offerings are not exactly light on the fat or calories. My family went to Panera; we ordered two sandwiches, a scone, coffee and tea. We were told the egg machine was turned off at 10:30; we ordered at 10:15. The location we were at was out of croissants. The coffee we were given had eggs in it and a hair was baked into my scone. We went back the following day because we met out of town family at the same location, and we had the same negative experience. The cashier kept repeating our order back and kept ringing it in incorrectly. They never made our drinks; we ordered hot and iced lattes. I had to go up multiple times and remind them. The girl at the sandwich counter said it wasn't her job to make our drinks but since the other guy back there wouldn't make them, she stepped away from her station, yelled at him and made our drinks. I ordered a cookie; there were 10 in the case. Several minutes later when I went to the sandwich counter to get my drinks I asked for my cookie and they informed me that they were out of them; I informed them that 10 minutes prior when I ordered my cookie the case was full. I walked back to the pastry area and showed two servers behind the counter they still indeed had cookies. I was waiting at the counter for 15 minutes for my drinks, the manager came out and asked if I was all set, I informed Sam the manager that I was not, they refused to give me the cookie and drinks I ordered. I had to go back to my table to get my receipt, where my family was waiting for me; we all traveled 5 hours to meet up at this location. I walked back to the counter and showed the girl at the sandwich counter my receipt and finally received my drinks and cookie. We also tried to find a table where my family could sit inside because it was 85° outside; all of the tables were filthy and sticky, had trash on the floor and the garbage area was overflowing with plates and trash. The lack of customer service and cleanliness at this location is insane and appalling; I'd never come back here even though it has been very convenient to meet here. The service, food, and dining area are all repulsive. I've spent over $300 here over the last week and will not be returning. read more

Ordered for delivery. Everything has an increased price for the convenience, which is understandable. However the quality of the food they brought was absolutely one star at best. The manager was working the register and was either, tired, stressed or annoyed. There were a line 3 people ahead of us to pick up to go orders. I don't think she looked up at as once while taking our order. She just short of threw the pager across the counter. My salad had a hard withered piece of avocado on my salad. When I went to the pick up counter the employee proceeded to offer me three different pieces of avocado each worse than the one before. When I declined, her response was "it's close to the end of the shift when we throw them out." Clearly if they already look terrible, they shouldn't be on the line to begin with. read more

I really love Panera for the most part. What I don't love is their consistent inconsistencies. (excuse the pun) the photo below represents two orders of the exact same item. Their avocado mash toast with arugula, tomato, and feta. They were both ordered at the same time exactly the same way and one is half the size of the other. Look at the photo. The avocado toast on the right it's literally choice. The size is the one on the left. So does that mean my friend and I have to fight over who gets the larger one? Ridiculous inconsistencies.... When I asked the kitchen one was bigger than the other they stated "we made the first one too big so we made the second one smaller." What the actual heck.... I enjoy the food at Panera so I stopped for lunch. I got the pick 2 with 1/2 Asian crunch salad. The salad was very good, the chicken tasted like it was marinated before it was cooked and it was very tender and moist. Loved the chopped greens and edamame. My only complaint was I forgot to order dressing on the side like I usually do, and of course it was way too much for me. The tomatoe soup was flavorful and seasoned nicely. One of my favorites is a half turkey, bacon n avocado sandwich with a cup of chicken noodle soup. The turkey is fresh tasting n not like a lunchmeat turkey. Also, It's something I wouldn't bother making at home because you need all those ingredients. There's something about their chicken noodle soup that gives it a really good homemade taste. I like the thicker cut of noodles they use n the broth is salted just right . Of course Panera has a many soups like the broccoli cheddar n I love the tortillas soup too, It has a really good flavor w the just right kick of heat. Visited late on a Tuesday after a bunch of errands and they were out of a bunch of breads. The (very young) cashier was VERY apologetic (as if he'd eaten all the bread) and went out of his way to make recommendations for what they had and was so great and helpful. Restaurants are very short staffed and overwhelmed right now and this really young kid was super professional and helpful and outgoing when they were minutes from closing. It was definitely the kind of experience that makes you take notice. They're clearly doing things right at this Panera! And the Sierra Turkey sandwich is DELICIOUS on the tomato basil bread. read more

I ordered lunch through up and did the drive up for Panera and was pleasantly surprised. I was about ten minutes early when I checked in and figured I would be sitting there waiting because I was early, but my food came out a few minutes after I got there. I LOVE Panera! I wish they had more in NYC...but with all the mom/pop deli's and whatnot... it makes sense that they haven't opened up more shops here. Anyyyywayyy the staffers at the Fairmount location are really friendly and even engaged in conversation with me as I figured out what I wanted to eat. I ended up with a spicy chicken panini and bowl of white cheddar mac & cheese. Both were excellent. The mac could have been a little less soupy...but the flavor was so good! I also picked up a cookie... my first at Panera. For $0.99 I got a 6" m&m sugar cookie that was so soft, so moist, and so delicious I went back the next day for another. Beyond the food- the service has always been good and doesn't take longer than a few minutes before your food is ready. As far as I can see the place is pretty clean, although I've yet to visit the bathrooms while there. First, one of my kids ordered Mac and cheese, the container was only about half filled and they charged 10 dollars for this. We also ordered a salad that was way overpriced for the amount received. I have been ordering from the West Genesee location for over a year with no issues. Today is the last day. My bagel was completely burnt and thrown in a brown paper bag with no wrapping. The bagel was completely black and could not be eaten. My order looked like something that was meant to go into the trash. I have been giving this location the benefit of the doubt for months now. Not impressed with my most recent visit. My mother and I opted to eat at this location for dinner on a recent Friday evening. I expected it to be busy, it was a full house with take out order folks cramming in front of the to go area and almost all the tables taken. Surprisingly there was no line and we immediately ordered. Perhaps the reason there was no line was because there was virtually no baked goods available for purchase except for these tiny sandwich cookies that cost $2.50 each. Very disappointed I couldn't pick up my spouse's favorites to go. I ordered a half tuna sandwich and cup of broccoli cheddar soup. The soup was on point but the tuna sandwich had about a tablespoon of tuna on it, again disappointing. The service was substandard, all staff seemed miserable. The open tables were dirty and we had to wipe off one of them so we could eat. The cost of the meal wasn't worth it. Panera, you can do better than this. read more

If I could give no stars... I would! Reasons: This experience... 1. Order taker was impatient and put out that my 10 yr old daughter didn't know what she wanted immediately. 2. After the order was completed, I realized that my daughter didn't order a drink bc she was rushed with her order and felt embarrassed. But I caught the lack of drink and made the women stop the payment transaction which again she acted like I was a bother. 3. After the food arrived at the table. My daughter asked for strawberry yogurt and the guy said hope that blueberry was OK which she hates! And the blueberry yogurt was filthy (see picture). My soup was cold and my spoon was not clean! I asked if it could be warmed up. To my absolute shock, I was told where the microwave was located (over by the coffee area). My daughter and I about wet our pants at that point... We laughed so hard.... But sadly the entire experience was ridiculous! I'm sad to see so many Panara restaurants go down hill! The rude staff.. Dirty atmosphere and the food thrown together with absolutely no care... My prediction is that people will start going else where... And Panara will be closing their doors across the country.
