I've been a loyal customer here for years, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. Before coming to the store, I called to ask about the price of the food and was quoted one amount. When I arrived, the price was significantly higher. I calmly mentioned that there may have been a misunderstanding regarding the price. Instead of handling the situation professionally, staff went behind the doors, and I overheard them calling me "stupid." Regardless of any pricing confusion, speaking about a customer that way is unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. I understand that misunderstandings can happen, but customers should always be treated with respect. After being a customer for so many years, I never expected to be treated this way. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and unwelcome. I hope the business takes customer service more seriously in the future because no one should be spoken about that way. Haven't been here in a while and this cold day was perfect for some hot soup! I had the beef and brisket Pho. We arrived after lunchtime and there were a few tables seated. Our server took our order and our food didn't take very long to come out. The pho was very hot and we were served bean sprouts, Thai basil, lime and hot peppers on the side. There was hot chili oil on the table. The broth was full of flavor and the rice noodles were cooked perfectly. I added the basil, the bean sprouts and just a little chili oil. We've been to this restaurant twice, and on the whole our experience was disappointing on both occasions. The pho was okay, but was obviously not made in the traditional fashion... I could make it better myself. The cha gio also were okay, but I've had better. As others have mentioned, there could have been more filling as the rolls were a little on the skimpy side for the price. And don't even get me started on the ca phe sua da. This was by far the worst version of Vietnamese iced coffee I've ever had. It's made in advance, not fresh at the table as it should be, and taste like old socks. Like another reviewer said, I also appreciate the vegetarian section of the menu but #96 (stir fired noodles) was just ok, half steamed, half stir fried. The portion was large, so I'll be taking half of it home and seasoning it a bit . I really like it that they have Yao's Vietnamese style soy milk and they have fruit shakes (Maybe I'll stop by just to have one!) I might also give the menu another try for one of their noodle soups when the weather is a little cooler. For my entree, I ordered #96 vegetarian stir fry noodles. The vegetables tasted like they had been steamed, not fried. The noodles were cooked perfectly. But the entire dish lacked flavor. Seemed like there was no seasoning or sauce to be found. My partner ordered #57 stir fried chicken and vegetables and said the same thing. His veggies were almost all cauliflower chunks, nothing else. And I found the large glass fish-shaped plates to be very off-putting, especially for someone who doesn't eat meat or seafood. I have not been here for years. I finally came back because I took a travel assignment in Syracuse. Happy to come back and bring my boyfriend here to try too. It was busy when we went for lunch but was still able to get seated in 10 mins. I love the food here. They are so good. I tried the new century egg rolls and it was really good. I ordered The Bun Bo Hue and loved it. My boyfriend ordered the Vermicelli Bowl but don't know which one and he really enjoys it too. They have the best pho that I have ever had and their char pork is to die for. They also have this yummy beef dish that I get to have everytime I bring my friend with me! Well myself and 2 friends went last week on a brisk day after we had walked 2 miles so we were really ready for soup. We were greeted promptly and seated. All 3 of us ordered the Pho with rare steak and had the egg rolls for an appetizer. The egg rolls came out right away and they were really tasty! Went to Syracuse for lacrosse tournament. We brought sandwiches but we came across this restaurant so we thought why not. They have a good menu options. We want something that we don't normally get so we choose frog legs! We also bought regular combo pho and seafood noodles. My son did not like the seafood noodles. It doesn't taste as good as pho 99, our favorite Vietnamese restaurant in buffalo. Our frog legs is good and spicy but not wow not enough justify the trip there. The rice that came with the frog legs, had some hard pieces. Overall just ok. Would I come back, no , it was too faraway. If I'm on the area, maybe... oh apparently it's cash only? I had a lot of expectations for new century, due to great reviews/friend recommendations: I came here at noon on Memorial Day (Monday) with my beau who is visiting from SoCal, there were about 15 other patrons when we arrived. The restaurant seems to be employed by the owner and his family. We both ordered a noodle dish: bun dac biet and hu tieu kho. Also an order of NC spring roll. The man who took our order (possibly the owner) was very pleasant and friendly. We were brought our drinks within 5 minutes, however our appetizer took another 20 minutes and our meal another 15. Although that means that the food is freshly made to order, It's a lot of waiting!!! I'm not sure if the bussing cart and the food delivery cart is the same cart or not but it made me a little uncomfortable that there wasn't a clear difference. The rolls were so tasty but. Bit pricey for portion size And size. My vermicelli dish wasn't anything to rave about, the other noodle dish was also mediocre. The cafe sua da was a bit too sweet, upon dilution of the ice melting, it was a little more tolerable. *Water was never refilled Our whole meal cost us $45 Which leads me to 3 stars. My husband and I have been going to this place since college, so it's about 7 or 8 years by now. It was good food with reasonable price. There's a lot of space for fiend to eat and hangout. It was one of our favorite for many years. But recently, it's all changed. Food is still good, but it's not necessary properly cooked. Husband ordered a cold noodle dish which we almost ordered every time we came in the past. Started of with weird tasting pho - hubby said he tasted residual of dishwasher soap but I just think it tastes weird and powdery. And then found out one of the pork meatball is raw. Boss came over and checked, replaced the raw meatball with two delicious fresh meatballs (I mean this is addictive!). Alright. I thought usually restaurant would replace the whole dish to avoid contamination, but whatever. The noodle tasted super weird anyway, so we did not eat any after discovering the raw meatball. no further harm was done. When we checked out, we learnt that 15% tips has been automatically added to the bill while service is almost not there (you would know what I meant if you've ever been there). I mean, I would of tipping 15% or more anyway, but I don't like to be forced to tip.... That is something new to us, but maybe because we've been ordering takeouts in past couple years. Also, with the raw meat incident, we are charged FULL price for the meal (and forced 15% tips on us). So, although food is still good, it's not irreplaceable in Syracuse (ok, they have the best meatball in the area....). We are probably not gonna be there for a while. Don't ask for a table for four if you are a party of 2 even when there are 10 free out of a total 15 tables. The 2s are small and not roomy enough. We have been here before and have had a 4 but for some reason this time they FORCED us into a 2. Then the very young patrons began to cuss and swear at us because I complained about this to the manager and they were not removed. This kind of treatment is not worthy of coming back. The prices are slightly on the higher end and they have some dishes that are not commonly seen in other pho restaurants. The new century spring roll is a delicious and is a huge twist from your typical spring roll. The broth for the noodles are full of flavor and is a must have especially for the cold weather. I came here to write that I had the best Bun Dac Biet (rice noodles with spring roll, shrimp, meatball, and shredded pork) I've ever had. This is a huge compliment since I have eaten probably hundreds of Vietnamese rice noodle bowls. This bowl will honor all Vietnamese ancestors LOL. It has lettuce, basil, cilantro, scallions, and a variety of Vietnamese grilled meats mixed with sweet and savory fish sauce. Favorite restaurant in Syracuse, and still one of my favorite bowls of pho consumed in all of NY state (including back in NYC). After having grown up on copious amounts of legit and tasty Vietnamese food around me in Southern California, I was skeptical when my husband told me that his favorite pho of all time was in his old college town. Now, every time we are in the area, we always make a stop. The portions are gigantic, and maybe I'm used to NYC prices, but it's quite inexpensive. The amount of service (aka minimal) is perfect for the experience I am going for - and that is enjoying my giant bowl of pho in peace.
