The intimate space is vibrantly painted, pops of colorful pictures framed on the walls, and traditional statues adorn the window and counter space. The service is fast, unbelievably friendly. Ok. Here we go. Rating of the 3 star for the food. I almost feel like I have to include service. A super gold star for service. The 2nd star for the affordability and the sheer amount of food you get at the price point.... $15.99 for pad kee mao with shrimp and 2 eggrolls. 3rd star for the perfectly cooked noodles and shrimp for the So why not 4 or 5 star? Again,boils down to personal preference. Minus 1 star for lack of description/ lack of vegetables. This is definitely on me for assuming that I know what ingredients are in a dish. The menu did not list ingredients. And I should not have assumed that all pad kee mao came with the vegetables staples that I am accustomed to(garlic, red pepper, onion, basil, , a variety of broccoli, sometimes carrots, or maybe evem baby corn.) The pad kee mao that was served came with raw green onions as a garnish, cooked basil leaf, deep fried shallots, onion, egg ( which threw me off), and 2 slices of lime. Minus a 2nd star because the flavoring wasn't balanced. It was lacking in the sweetness factor to balance out the spicy, salty, and sour. What a time! We loved getting a chance to eat at appethaizing in person, as we have ordered DoorDash/uber from them before. We happened to be hungry and walking by when we saw an open sign, which was interesting since they're normally closed the day went in. We were greeted cheerily by a lovely server and promptly provided drinks and menus. We ordered some amazing items that we had not tried previously, and they came out quickly and with healthy servings! I ate chicken pad thai, spring roll, and egg roll. All very good. I dined in. It was a cute atmosphere but seems like most people order out.

I ordered take out/grub hub for lunch. I work downtown and not only was the food delivered to me hot, the chefs at appethaizing were efficient since it was delivered earlier than expected! I ordered pad see ew with chicken, shrimp and broccoli. I also ordered green papaya salad because it's so refreshing. I lived in Thailand for a while and this papaya salad was just like Thailand!!!! Fresh, crunchy, full of flavor and satisfying! The pad see ew was cooked to perfection. I even had them put a fried egg on top just like they do in Thailand. Pad Thai was authentic; scrambled eggs, green onions, fired tofu and sauce with extra peanuts, bean sprouts and lemons slices on the side. Not soggy or too greasy, nice sized portion. I love this cozy little Thai restaurant meets Asian market. Decorated to the gills with Thai decor with one wall lined with tables and the other lined with shelves of Asian grocery items. The eccentrically dressed man behind the counter fit right in with all of the decor around him. The food was really good. Fresh, flavorful, with their own unique flavors. Dishes tasted very different from other Thai food I've had, take out was super dry and not good.

In a lot of ways, this restaurant is my intro to Thai food, so I can't speak much to authenticity or ranking among other Thai places. I've been here a few times and ordered pickup directly through the restaurant. There are about 5 eligible spots next to the building, and if you fight bravely, you can find one to parallel park in and they'll run your food out to you. The location in Liverpool seems to have more options, and has a section for tilapia. Let me start by saying that I would gladly come back and spend any amount of money just on repeated orders of coconut shrimp with sweet chili sauce. I'm all about thick jumbo shrimp. These were breaded, flavored, and cooked to perfection. Each bite has a satisfying snap to it, and the chili sauce made it a complete shutout. Their eggrolls were fantastic as well, speaking of snap. Just the right amount of crispy on the outside and rich on the inside. None of that typical eggroll sog that makes you question your choice in the middle. The carrot sauce didn't make sense until I tried it with this. Another match made in heaven. While it's a great selection, you're getting a lot less bang for your buck with these at $3.00 a pop. Per everyone's recommendation, we had to try the Pad Thai. I'm not a masochist, but in a place like Syracuse you have to fight to get some decent heat on your food. Being my first order, I figured I'd try 5/5 before I tried Thai HOT!!!. It was decent, but nothing crazy - I'm gonna have to check out Thai HOT!!! and see if I make the cut. On some occasions, I'll break a sweat eating regular sriracha or Taco Bell Fire Sauce. That is to say, I'm not made out of terribly strong stuff, but I love a challenge. The Pad Thai was delicious, glad we got it. Not as interesting as the other options, would reorder perhaps as a go to stock meal. Paying upcharges for ingredients like onions and broccoli was kind of a wet blanket for ordering. I think the build a bowl thing only shows up during lunch time? I looked for it when I first heard of the place, and went with other options when it never turned up. When I ordered another time around noon, it was right there on the menu. I used this to try their peanut sauce, which was unlike anything I've made or tried elsewhere. This one was a lot thinner and had deeper flavor. Less of the peanut and ginger taste, more of garlic and chili. I tried the red curry sauce, which was less spicy and more sweet than I'd expected. Wow! Such good food and service. Super fresh fish ingredients. The special sauce for summer rolls is flavorful spicy and crunchy in the best way! I coukd eat it with a spoon (and did!) . ThI'm terribly disappointed that the city has blocked off access to them from every direction! I'm sure many people like myself who want to eat there are discouraged but I pushed through anyway. After having passed this place downtown many times, I finally ordered takeout on a weeknight when my preferred thai restaurant was closed. I was looking forward to trying their food, but was pretty quickly disappointed with the flavors. I ordered pad thai, drunken noodle, red curry, and tom yum soup. The best item was definitely the tom yum soup, which was quite spicy and had good flavor. The noodle dishes and curry however, left a lot to be desired. The red curry dish was very bamboo forward in smell and taste, which is not something I've every encountered in a curry dish. The curry flavor itself was mild and not particularly flavorful. My husband preferred this dish amongst the others, but it was my least favorite. The noodle dishes were different from what I'm used to, which is not to say that's why I wasn't a huge fan. The noodles were somewhat al dente, and more dry than I expected. I felt like there wasn't a lot to these dishes -- I specifically asked my husband why there were so few bean sprouts in the pad thai. The dishes seemed much more focused on the noodles, and less on vegetables + meat. I was definitely a bit disappointed in this order. Who knew that I'd find the best Thai food that I've ever had in Syracuse! Everything was just amazingly fresh and seasoned perfectly. Often, I find that Thai can be prepared spicy and lose all of its flavor but that didn't happen here, I ordered the Green Curry and Num Mun Hoi and the flavors were layered and subtle. I've ordered from here several times. They used to have the best PadThai. Even with delivery, the order was right on point. This time, I ordered the PadThai on UberEats. They now force you to choose two proteins. I chose peanuts as the second protein. The order had no peanuts - though I was charged for it. The PadThai was a miserable, salty, lump of noodles. Pitiful really. They also have a type of spring rolls called "Instead Noodle." HA! Instead of spring rolls, they literally gave me a box of lumpy noodles. How obtuse can you be? I also ordered a thai tea - instead I was given a can of banana boba tea. There is a large sign on the side of the building that proclaims proudly, "under new management." I hope the new management gets its act together. This was a very unpleasant and expensive experience. $28 bucks for pad thai, a quart of plain noodles, and can of tea. Won't be ordering again anytime soon. There are lots of "meh" Thai places in Syracuse that will get your order right. This was not one of them.
