One of my go-to shops in Syracuse for middle eastern things. I'm a regular because they sell two things I love- Baraka brand mint tea, which is my favorite mint tea ever, and an African black soap which has worked wonders on my skin. I stock up on pitas, pistachios, and spices too. The store is packed. They have most of what you expect with a middle eastern market- big bags of rice, flat breads of various kinds, lots of preserves and tea, a halal butcher, Indomie noodles, dried dates, spices in bulk, etc. Admittedly it's not very clean and kind of smells but I overlook it because they have what I'm looking for. read more

My wife and I come here (not frequently enough) for the pita bread and falafel . It's super cheap and the food is tasty. This last time we came in, they had a new hot/cold foods bar back by the deli. It was phenomenal. Everything we tried tasted home made like your friend or family made it. The guy was super generous and let my wife and I try pretty much everything he had for free. We ended up buying a few things and were thankful for their generosity. Excellent food, great prices. read more

I always find what I need here. It's one of the best middle eastern markets in the area. Their meat market is also good. The place is clean and organized. I'm always in and out in no time. They bake their pita bread every day and if u call in advance they can bake fresh bread for you. The only thing is they don't sell fruits and veggies but overall serves the most common middle eastern grocery a house would need. read more

Love this place. Much less cramped than other Middle Eastern groceries in the area (cancelled out by the fact that the Lyncourt location isn't terribly convenient; they do have a small off-street parking lot). There aren't too many local joints that bake their own pitas; Jerusalem does a great job with them. They also have an in-house butcher. read more

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. No if's and's or but's about it. My boyfriend lived in Turkey for a year while he taught abroad and he got used to the food (Ayran, turkish delights, dolmas, chai, havla, pitas with hummus, etc.) and then turned me onto it. In LA we could at least find delicious, dependable Mediterranean food whenever we craved it, but here in Syracuse it's been tougher. Thankfully, now that there's the Jerusalem Super Market, you can not only buy all these delicious foods for yourself, you can also buy the separate ingredients to make your own at home, and for EXTREMELY reasonable prices. Some wonderful highlights: they bake fresh pitas here two or three times a week. And a bag of 6 freshly baked pillowy pitas will cost you less than $2! They have dolmas (marinated stuffed grape leaves) by the can, and they are mouth-watering good, I was surprised to find out they came from a can and cost about half what you would pay for a plate of them in a restaurant. They have tahini as well if you want to make your own hummus or tahini dressing (so delicious!) They have an array of spices to choose from, a wealth of Turkish delights, cookies and juices (Tamek cherry juice was a fave when we travelled in Turkey). They are also the only place in town that sells red lentils for lentil soup (we know because we have looked everywhere! and by everywhere, I mean all the Wegman's locations in a fifteen-mile radius). And they have a butcher section in the back where you can order fresh cuts. All this and for half, maybe a third, of the price it would normally cost to shop at Wegman's or the other big groceries in the area - you can bet we'll be back again soon! Finally, and this is what makes this place charming on top of awesome, Jerusalem Super Market is family-owned. And the family is so, so sweet. The son came right up to me and my two friends the first day I was there and struck up a conversation with us, like we were old friends. And he was really helpful and invited us to try some of the dolmas we bought in the store, which is how I know they were delicious. In sum, I'm so very glad I found this place. It's not often you get the pleasure of friendly service with the advantage of reasonable prices AND an international variety of flavors. Which for Syracuse, really is saying a lot. read more

I purchase fresh lamb and goat here whenever in the Syracuse area. This past weekend I was able to purchase a half goat at an extremely reasonable price, along with several lamb chops. The butcher is good, eager to please, and very patient. From the goat I was able to get several neat leg, rack, short loin, tenderloin, and bone-in diced (stew) cuts. They have a decent dried spices selection to include saffron, and all at reasonable prices. A big bang for your buck! read more

Since Jerusalem Market opened a few years back, it has evolved into a really neat and organized store. The reason I started going there is because they do make fresh pita bread every Saturday. It is warm and smells so good when fresh made. I love it. They have a vast variety of foods for several different countries, to include spices, nuts, meats and sweets, coffee and tea. There is an in house butcher. And now they have a shawarma station, which is fresh and delicious, along with shish kabob and other sandwiches, if you ask. This store also sells music, attire, demitasse cups, and some jewelry. It's awesome to just walk around and look at everything! The manager Ali, is always very helpful and friendly. He cares about sanitation and cleanliness. The store is much bigger than it looks from the outside. The prices are extremely reasonable as well. I look forward to seeing Ali's vision for the future of this store. read more

This place is the bomb. Super authentic, super friendly. Today was my first experience there and got a leg of lamb. All the meats were very fresh and well handled. Halla style so it has minimual clean up required they do it all. Hell of a store if your into middle eastern food even if you can't cook go there and look around. awesome awesome store! read more

Your meat is not 100% Zabiha Halal. If you claiming that meat in your store is just Halal not Zabiha Halal then it is fine Your worker said that not sure that cutting man from source has said Bismillah allahu Akbar. Then we are in confuse and in doubt that your meat is not Zabiha halal. There is lot of difference between Halal and Zabhiha Halal. Please we need proof that your making meat Zabiha halal read more

I visited this market on the high recommendation of my Turkish coworker. I like to be adventurous in my food tastes so I enjoy finding new ethnic markets to explore. I'm a little familiar with Middle Eastern food, but she wanted me to try some specific Turkish things. Jerusalem didn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is bright, clean, spacious, and organized. The guys working the store were very nice and helpful. The son (I'm assuming, based on the other reviews) let me try some of the their baklava when I bemoaned how buying a whole tray of it was impossible for the good of my waistline! There was a shawarma station set up today (I don't know if that's an everyday thing, but I went on a Saturday) and it looked delicious. The dates I bought weren't terribly good, but everything else was great and I wish I had remembered to grab a tin of dolmas. I shall definitely be returning when I can indulge in the pitas, shawarma, and other good eats. read more
