Just giving this another review. Lombardi's is still my favorite store in Syracuse. They have a terrific selection of meats and cheeses, as well as other products from Italy. The staff is friendly and they were very organized this holiday season. I did finally have my first sandwich from there. The Italiano. It was so good I went back the next day for another one and got one for my husband, who also loved it. I think the price (9.99) and for what you get (quality) is incredible, especially in 2025. Why did it take me over 50 years to get here? I purchased some surprise bags from the too good to go app. I've heard this store has many surprises and imported goodies so I grabbed a cart! Not very well lit but so much to look at. I picked up some ravioli and cannoli from the freezer cases hoping they are delicious. I saw the deli made subs I was hungry and ordered the Bernstein. Pastrami, provolone, pickles, red onion, thousand island dressing. The bread was so fresh! Packed with pastrami that was very flavorful! Onions were sliced thin and just the right amount. It's difficult to describe to people outside of NY what an Italian deli and market should be like. Lombardi's is the perfect example. I was visiting my daughter for the first time since her move from Florida, and so excited as soon as I walked inside. The sights, the smells, and eventually the taste of everything we had was fantastic. I only wish we would have visited sooner on this trip instead of my last day, I would have purchased so much more to cook at home. We will definitely do that on my next trip. We decided on lunch heroes, some Italian cookies and cannoli. My sandwich was so delicious, all the cold cuts and cheese were fresh, along with the bread that was yummy. The cookies brought me back to childhood. It's hard to describe the perfect balance of buttery sweetness that a great Italian cookie has, along with a crispness or snap to the cookie too. I thought the cannoli cream was excellent, but the shells was not crisp due to refrigeration. I would love the cream alone to fill separate cannoli shells. The selection of other Italian products is extensive and the service was great as well. This will be my first stop on my next visit. read more

Everyone working was very nice and helpful. You feel transported to an old world store with all the wares around like baskets and the china up front. I ordered two subs and they were very reasonably priced. They tasted good but I have my favorite sub spots and these are not as good in my opinion. I appreciate they use high quality ingredients. Witnessed yet another unnerving incident in Lombardi's. A woman who appeared to be a supervisor scolded a female employee who was an obvious new employee being trained (AND also a senior citizen) in front of another customer. The senior-aged employee seemed flustered, but apologized for "not understanding" the supervisor- but I'm sure she felt embarrassed because I even felt embarrassed for her. The supervisor behaved in a condescending, disrespectful, and inappropriate way to the employee. Not sure what has happened to the management at Lombardi's, but this is the second time in a month I have witnessed disturbing behavior by an employee at Lombardi's. read more

Such a north side gem. They have a deli located in their Italian market. Reminds me of a shop down in the city. All the meat and cheese are freshly cut and authentic. I tried the Rosalina and added mayo (I'm 0% Italian ok) and their hot pepper spread. Omg so delish. The roll was perfectly soft too. One of the few places you can get a solid lunch for under $10. It was talk of the Italian subs that brought us here. Must have walked into that discussion at the right place and time. We also had some money to spend, and I'm a sucker for an authentic food shopping experience. I love Italian food, but am no more familiar with it than any other non-Italian American. I know the pastas they sell at Price Chopper, I know the sauces are red, white, or green. I joke, but I was honestly surprised by just how far over my head I felt looking through the selections. They had all sorts of sauces, pastas, meatballs, canolis, crostinis, the usual suspects, all available fresh or frozen. Enough that my trip was worthwhile without any prior planning or solid understanding of Italian cuisine. They sell a lot of spices by the pound, which are immensely cheaper than the 3 oz McCormick's packs I usually buy them in. They have a whole row of oils I'm not classy enough to use, most of which you won't find at regular stores. Again, spoken as a rookie who couldn't pronounce, let alone name half of the selection, they had an incredible array of cheeses and cured meats. If it's been shredded to bits, pasted back together, and cured into convenient, sliceable shapes, they've got it here. Lucky for us, they had sampler packs of cheeses and meats which we snatched up to get ourselves into the game. There was only a kid working when we were there. We didn't really know what we wanted, so we didn't ask him for help and he never offered. We ordered the famous Italian subs we came for and checked out with about another $45.00 of impulse buys. We didn't specify what to put on the subs, just named two of them off the menu and the guy went and made them. Maybe this is normal, but they just came with the meat and cheese on bread. My tastes fall on the soggy end of the sandwich spectrum, so even though the meats and cheeses were absolutely phenomenal and fresh in a way I've never experienced, I still dressed my sub when I got home with the fixings I should have specified. Eventually I'll look up some decent recipes and come back to this place with a mission. Whatever I need, I'm confident it'll be available here. read more

So I wanted to make Chicken Parmesan but I wanted it to be as authentic Italian as possible so after scouring the internet i came up with a list of all the ingredients I would need and decided to stop here to get everything. I was impressed! The store had everything you could imagine from herbs, to cheeses, meats, pasta, and sauces. Everything I purchased besides the cheese was imported from Italy. I was so excited to find the Frantoia olive oil (Italy's #1 choice so I read) that I was looking for. I will definitely be back the more dishes I plan to execute. read more

Lombardi's has the world's best gift baskets filled with pastas, nuts, confectionary, sauces and cheese...Oh, I wish you had a website I could order away on... Such a treasure with their Italian food specialties, cold cuts, aged cheeses, imported pastas and multiple vats of various tasty olives. Over 60% of what is on their shelves is by custom request...wow! And Aunt Mary whips up the best meatballs ever...fully cooked...I just throw them in a pot of sauce. She also custom crafts batches of flavor infused balsamic vinegars...try the one with fig as its outstanding! I love this place! My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the absence of a website where I could conveniently order online all the wonderful products they offer. I have been frequenting Lombardi's a lot since I discovered it about four months ago. The Fennell Taralli is almost as good as what my Grandmother used to make. On my last trip to Syracuse to buy four more bags (we are addicted) among other delicious items, these were the absolute BEST batch ever! They are lighter in color so were probably baked a little bit less than normal and they seem to have a touch more fennell than the other 20 or so bags I have purchased. PLEASE, keep cooking them like the last four bags I bought, just a little less time in the oven so they are a lighter color. The flavor comes through perfectly when cooked this way! It seems to be the only place in Syracuse where to find authentic Italian food. A vast selection of pasta and other staples. They lack a bit in the variety of cheeses, but it is understandable because of the customer base being mostly Italian-American. read more

Every time I come here it is just to get my grandfather some Provolone Cheese, however, I leave spending $100. The variety off stuff you cant get anywhere else sucks me in every time. Walking in here feels like you walked into a store in Italy. They sell small subs, homemade tomato sauce, and every kind of olive oil there is. I asked the owner once for a suggestion on which oil to get and I got a 20 minute breakdown class lol. The only gripe I have about this place is it is always understaffed. I have had to wait a very long time in the deli area. The owner is old and slow so....hm. If you come after 5:00 you will have to wait a while for meat and cheese. Many times I waited at the cash register for someone to cash me out. Very surprising especially for the neighborhood it is in. Anyhow, I love this place regardless. It is nice to see that regardless of how bad the North Side has gotten there is a few classic Italian places that refuse to leave their home. read more

I've driven by this place often, and I'm glad I finally stopped in. The selection of Italian meats and cheeses is outstanding and the prices were reasonable. The man at the deli counter was friendly and helpful. I purchased some sharp provolone ($12.99/lb, a half pound brick was more than enough to enjoy at home for a while) and also got some really yummy hot cappocollo. They carry Boar's Head Brand products, which is a nice option in this area since you can't find them everywhere. I also got some of their meatballs (approx $5 for 8 large) and a small tray (approx $4) of eggplant cutlets. This was an easy and delicious meal to heat up with some pasta and sauce. I'm pretty picky about meatballs but theirs had great flavor and were a good consistency after I baked them a bit and let them simmer in some sauce. Go across the street to Nino's bakery and get a loaf of Italian and you'll have a great, easy weeknight meal! read more

I've lived in Syracuse for almost 5 years now and I made my first trip to Lombardi's. I used to frequent Vince's in North Syracuse as I lived almost next door for a few years. Now that I'm in the city, I decided to stop in at the famous Lombardi's. I was not disappointed. I went in there Super Bowl morning and stocked up on a bunch of meats from their deli. Proscuitto, capicola, sopresseta, salami, fresh sausage. I also grabbed some ravioli and some cannoli. Add in a little cheese and some of my own homemade sauce, and I was in heaven. Super Bowl spreads don't get much better. I'll absolutely be back to Lombardi's. read more

An old gem in a changing neighborhood. At one point this part of Syracuse was very Italian, being the home of many bakeries and delis. When you come to this neighborhood now you will see a very different place filled with South Asian and even African goods. Lombardi's however has endured the test of time. When you walk in it reminds you of Little Italy in New York City, they have dried foods, canned foods, bottled foods, frozen foods. The best part for me was the active deli in the back where you can buy cured meats and cheeses. It reminds me of home. If you are looking for any Italian good, this place probably has it somewhere in here. The people are also extremely friendly and are willing to help you out with whatever you need. Some notes: 1. Has a fairly small parking lot but theres always space when you go 2. Located on Syracuse's north side, this place is a diamond in the rough. If you have fond memories of your grandmother's weekly 2:00 Sunday pasta dinner, then this is the place for you. Simply wonderful! Jam packed with authentic Italian and Mediterranean goods...dry cured meats, cheeses, olives, breads, cookies, etc, etc... Lived in Syracuse my entire life and have since moved to Columbus, Ohio where Italian ethnic roots are sparse and the closest place that offers anything similar is Carfagna's. I use to avoid specialty stores because I assumed they would be pricey compared to my grocery store but I finally stopped in here and was completely wrong, they're on par, and in some cases cheaper (specialty/import items in a grocery store are expensive). While they're not advertised, the deli in the back will make sandwhiches (you only choose from meat cheese, oil, mustard mayo... don't expect sub items like lettuce or tomatoe). The sandwhichs are very good and surprisingly affordable. A filling salami sandwhich was only $3 and it was great, better than anything the sub chains make. I will be going again, this place is a gem of Syracuse and I wish I had started going there earlier. read more
