Very disappointed with my last order. Tom Yum and Tom Kha soup was probably the worst that I ever had. They used celery. Yuck. Spring rolls were made with iceberg lettuce and lacked any flavor. The Tom Gha Soup should have been a coconut milk base but all you taste is the chicken broth in what couldn't have been more that 6 ounces of soup. We live in Bville, so this is our go to place for take out Thai food. Dishes are well prepared and reasonably priced - I am particularly a fan of their Pad Kie Mao and Green/Panang Curry dishes, though everything has been quite good. A quick note on ordering food for take-out: they tend to run a bit longer than the estimate that they give over the phone (usually 30 mins), so I show up about 10 mins late and it's almost always perfect timing. We haven't dined at the restaurant, so I can't comment on service...but the decor is very simple and the atmosphere may fall short of expectations for a nice dining experience. read more

Not bad for Thai food out in central NY. Having been spoiled by Thai food in Boston, I was pleased that Basil Thai met the mark. We dined in one weeknight, and ordered the eggrolls, pad see ew (the bf had pork and I had beef), and Thai iced tea. The prices are quite fair for the portion sizes, and the food came out quickly after we placed our orders. The only downside was that the beef in my dish was slightly overcooked. In fact, I don't think I've had Chinese food since Basil Thai opened ... it just never makes sense to have low quality low end Chinese food when you can have high quality fresh food from Basil Thai. Pong, the owner, is a great chef. This is not American Thai. I'm told it is a specific and authentic style from his part of Thailand. His brother also has a restaurant about 10 miles south on the same road where Pong used to work. The food is similar and great at both places. Prices are very reasonable. This is more of a take out place but there are 8 or 10 tables if you want to eat in. The family that runs the place is great and so is the food. We recently had the opportunity to sample the cuisine at Basil Thai, and found it to be a most enjoyable experience. There are several good Thai restaurants in CNY, but few in Oswego County, so we were quite happy to find this place in Phoenix. The restaurant is small, with just a few tables, and the atmosphere appears more suited to take-out than eat-in, but the food is top-notch, as good or better than anyplace else we've eaten. The Pla Jian (tilapia with tamarind) was superbly prepared - crispy outside, flaky inside, and a flavorful sauce that we couldn't get enough of. The Pad Thai was a nice complement to the fish - sometimes Pad Thai can be boring, but not at Basil. The only part of the meal we didn't enjoy was the appetizer, the Moo Dang. While the sauce was very nice, we found the pork to be quite dry. We wouldn't order that again, but we'll definitely be back to try more of everything else. read more

Place appeared dirty and the food was not hot when it was served to us. Pad Thai drenched in sauce with a few pieces of shrimp. Rice was bland and had few vegetables. We will NEVER go there again.
