I was in Manlius and decided to get a quick snack and I remembered hearing about #1 Kitchen. I looked over the menu and it was pretty typical for most Chinese restaurants. I ordered an egg roll and Shrimp Fried rice. The egg roll was nice and crisp and very hot. Sadly, like almost all egg rolls these days, it was mostly cabbage. The Shrimp Fried rice had a nice amount of shrimp but was a little bland. I brought most of it home and the next day I reheated it with more vegetables and some Asian sauces I had. I ordered the beef curry it was comprised of 97% onion 2% snow peas, mushrooms, carrots and 1% beef! Literally, where's the beef! I like to do business locally but I'm going to have to go a pit farther afield. read more

TL;DR: Subpar food. Good service. Will not repeat. ***Ambiance*** This is a takeout place. Do not plan on having a sit-down meal here. They have an open kitchen which looked very busy. ***Service*** Service was fast and hassle-free. We ordered through their website and the food was ready when we got to the store. ***Food*** We ordered egg rolls, cheese rangoons, fried dumplings, and hot & spicy chicken. Unfortunately, the food was not that great. Everything was very doughy. The egg roll tasted stale (see pic) and I stopped after taking one bite. Hot and spicy chicken was a concoction of a few pieces of chicken in a sweet sauce. Last week I have a craving for beef chow mein; my regular in Manlius (China Cafe) is currently closed on Tuesday so I decided to try No. 1 Kitchen. I ordered ahead over the phone, no issue there- I was told 10-15 minutes. I got there in about 15 minutes. There was only one person working the counter, who was talking to another person on the other side of the counter who would start to order, but then stop and talk about her grandkids, the price of school supplies etc etc. Okay she needed the social interaction I get that- but then when the other "customer" finally finished her tales/order, the woman working the counter starting talking about her kids and how much their school supplies cost etc etc... The burger I had at Burger King across the street was pretty good. I wonder if the No. 1 Kitchen/social club ever found anything to do with that chow mien they made for me- strange way to run a business (make the food then don't give the traditional customer a reasonable chance to pay for it). I would first like to say that I have been ordering from this place since moving back to the area since 2015. it has become one of the favorite Chinese takeout places for my family and we order just about every Christmas day. The last couple of times we ordered online and then went to go pick up was not the worst experience but it could've been better. Whether you are ordering for an ASAP pick up or a custom time... You expect your order to be ready at the given time. Now, again, I know that it is Christmas day. We placed our order before 4 PM for a 5 PM pick up. We get to the place right at 5 PM, but waited a couple of minutes in the car as we saw it was jam packed in there. My kids and I made our way into the restaurant and stood in line waiting for our turn to pick up our food. Once I got to the counter, there was a child (usually is) taking everyone's payment and asking for their name or last four digits of their phone number, as well as if they called their order in or was it placed online. It took her a while to find my order , but once she found it, she told me it was not ready yet. OK, perfectly fine. Our total for the food was $90 even. I included the tip into the total so it would round up to the $90. We gave her $50 in cash and we told her to put the rest on our card. The little girl tried to tell me that she was going to charge the card $44 and some change because of the tip. I tried to explain to her that the tip was already in there and she tried to argue with me a little bit. I had to literally take out my phone and show my receipt which showed the tax and the tip included and that is when she realize that she needed to only charge my card $40. That was a little annoying. I don't know if she really didn't understand at first, was trying to pull a fast one, and how many other people does she charge extra... But whatever. It is my personal opinion that you should not be leaving a child to handle the payments. I go to the back of the restaurant where my kids were at this point and sit at the table waiting for my name to be called. Tons of people are loading in still to pick up their orders. As time goes by I am noticing that people that came behind me were getting their food sooner. Now, I don't know when they called or placed their online order. I just know that at 5:40 PM I was tired of waiting and I got up to ask how long it was going to take for our order to be done, especially since we placed it at 4 PM for a 5 PM pick up. The mother at that point told me it was going to be another 15 minutes. Are you serious right now?! I am livid because this is absolutely ridiculous. I don't know if my order just didn't get done or if they just kept putting it to the side? My kids and I did not walk out of that restaurant with our food until 5:55 PM. It's unfortunate that we won't be doing business with them anymore because I don't pay for terrible service. read more

First timer at this location. Haven't had Chinese takeout in a long time due to the poor reviews in the Syracuse and surrounding areas. Pulled the trigger on a whim and ventured out for a couple combo meals. No complaints about the food quality. However, was told 15 minutes and waited about 25. Not a huge deal. If I could give it a quarter of a star that would be more accurate. General TSO's chicken ordered all white meat, when you could find the chicken it wasn't white and it was incredibly tough. Bone in ribs had zero flavor unless you consider burnt to be a flavor. Definitely not the best in Manlius, I will never order from there again. I've eaten form here a number f times mar it does not disappoint. The lunch specials (between 11-2) are a great deal. I most enjoy the sesame chicken combo platter which includes their friend rice i which is also amazing. They have online ordering which is extremely easy and takes only a few minutes and you can pick it up when it's most convenient for you. read more

This is decent, neighborhood American Chinese food. It's nothing special, but it's good when you're craving hot take out. The chicken broccoli was alright, as was the bland fried rice. The Singapore noodles were tasty, though the shrimp were from frozen and overcooked. I got delivery, which was fast. I'm definitely going to order again. read more

I love this place! Since moving from CA, it's been really difficult to find authentic Chinese food. I love the range of their menu and I've honestly never had a bad meal. The staff can run behind on orders sometimes which is why I took off a star, but if you call ahead you should be fine. Moved to the area recently . Its always nice to have a GOOD Chinese takeout place nearby. Good size portions and the food is always good.

Overall the food is good but sometimes I question the cleanliness of the restaurant. I once went during the summer and they left the door open. There were flies everywhere in the front restaurant area so I can only imagine what was like in the kitchen. This used to be my favorite local Chinese restaurant until that incident. read more
