Asian Wok has been my families go to "take out" Chinese food location. I think what sells us is how fresh the vegetables taste. They do not over cook the veggies until they are soggy. The vegetables in their main dishes are cooked perfectly with a nice crisp texture them along with a slight fiery char flavor to them as well. The General Tso has great flavor, slight heat and a nice crispy fried coating. The shrimp was flavorful and had a light sauce so not to lose the flavors of the shrimp. The egg rolls were run of the mill egg rolls that taste like any other take out or sit down Chinese restaurant. We also really enjoy their Lo Mein. Again, the vegetables tasting fresh hits the mark! The establishment is very clean. Though it is primarily take out it, Asian Wok has three tables with a couple chairs at each one along with a high chair if needed. If I can give one tip it would be that you should either order by phone or when you arrive. I have ordered online at least twice in the past and not sure why but my order was 20-25 mins late each time. I have never had that issue when I called to place my orders. Asian Wok has been around for years. Moved to a couple of different location but looks like it is settled in it's own building. It is family run. I have watched a young boy not more then ten take my orders years ago to see him grow into a teenager now taking my order. His mom has always given a "thank you" while I'm heading out. We really wanted to love this place!!! First, the customer service here is extraordinary! Truly. It's a family owned restaurant, where the kids are helping answer phones and take payments. They were also helping with food, without gloves, which wasn't so great... but we loved seeing this family work together. Upon entry, we were greeted and took some time to look over the menu. We are from Long Island, and were just driving through, so we'd never been there before. Based on Yelp reviews, we got an order a wings and spicy dumplings. We were going to get beef lo mein, but the woman strongly suggested we get beef with spicy chili sauce. She said that it's the spiciest dish on the menu, and if we love spicy we will love it! She also said it was an authentic Chinese dish, which is something we are always looking for, so we crossed off our $8 lo mein and chose the $13 beef in spicy chili. We chose to eat in and the woman was so helpful to bring our food to us, with plates and utensils. She had the cook add extra hot peppers to our dumplings, which was such a nice touch. We started with the dumplings, which were absolutely incredible!! The dough was thin and soft, and the filling was fresh and tasty. It wasn't spicy, but we didn't care because they were just so good!! Next was the chicken wings, which were okay. They were greasy, and lacking in flavor and salt. We added the leftover chili sauce to them to give them some flavor. They were crisp and fresh, though, which was great. We couldn't wait to try the beef dish, after speaking to the woman about it at length! We opened the container to find sliced beef, zucchini, bean sprouts and a few thin slivers of carrot and celery, swimming in a sauce. We each dipped a spoon in to try it, and were SO disappointed. Not only was it not spicy at all, it had absolutely *no flavor. None. In addition, the quality of the beef was awful. It was grisly and chewy. My husband usually doesn't mind it at all, and ended up spitting a chunk out, and not being able to eat anymore. We really, really wanted this meal to be fantastic. The service was TOP NOTCH and we were so excited, anticipating that the food would match it, and it missed the mark by a long shot. Ordered: * 2 sesame chicken entrees *large vegetable low mein *large egg drop soup +for takeout it's ready in 15min every single time even when it's busy +egg drop soup is hot and some places it's served warm or closer to cold +sesame chicken has lots of sesame a good amount of sauce as well -only negative I can currently say is every time we order egg drop soup without onion including green onion due to food allergy I think they forget and still add it however it's a garnish so we just scoop it out If you're craving Chinese takeout and similar cuisine this is a great pit stop on the way home ! read more

Was looking for a cheap Chinese food place while we were driving to Rochester, and this place appeared as an option. It is overall a fast food "Panda Express" take out place offering things like Mushu, Happy Family (there are like 15 options under the chef's special... but honestly same sauce with different veggies/meats combinations), fried rice and fried noodles, dumplings, phad thai etc. If you like saucy Chinese fast food take out, this is your place. Kind of hole in the wall, so it's easy to overshoot the place, it is to the side of a two business complex. This seems to be the HIGHEST rated fast food cheap high quality Chinese food in Syracuse, overall, I agree! We ordered the Pork and Chicken stir fry and honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the combinations in that section despite their different names- SAME sauce but different foods in the wok that's all. Good stir fry- the kind you find at Chinese buffets but if you like that, hey it's good. Phad thai- a generic pad thai sauce that is oily, tasty, and not authentic and high quality but palatable and delicious is the way to describe this. If you want an overall salty and flavorful dinner, this is your place! Food comes out fast and in take out trays and people are friendly. It is family run and the kids are adorable. read more

Pros: - Chinese-American food that is pretty standard with everything one would expect. -Usually fast preparation -Friendly service and orders are moved along quickly (Family Run) -Food is hot and the active business shows it doesn't sit around much Cons: -Sanitation needs to be improved. As noted in other reviews, kids and such are around preping food without gloves. -Not a sit down place at all. Mostly a take out only shop. -If you have to wait, take a look around. The shop doesn't appear to be cleaned often. Overall its what I expect from a takeout fast Chinese spot. Been ordering from Asian Wok for years, even before they moved to their new location. We usually order sesame bean curd, general tso tofu, sweet & sour shrimp, or chicken rice soup. It tastes so good every single time and you get a good amount of food (so affordable too!) and I always end up having leftovers. I always like to try new Asian restaurants. I've heard great things about Asian Wok so I thought I'd try it. We ordered pickup through the Yelp app. We got fried wontons, which were really good. Not at all greasy nice and crispy great flavors. We ordered house lomien. It was kinda skimpy on the meats pasta slightly over cooked but the flavor was fantastic. We also got the sesame chicken mild cause we don't do spicy. This was also really tasty. Will definitely go back here again for take out! read more

Never have I ever seen any sweet and sour chicken that even looks close to whatever this is. Why would I ever go here again when I can order this from any other Asian place around and get what I'm used to. I have been buying Chinese food from the restaurant that used to be located at this same location for 20 + years [CHINA HOUSE]. Since it appears to have changed hands and its name & branding the food has been a disappointment. The food has little flavor and the dishes I tried beef & broccoli / orange flavor beef, hunan chicken were lacking. First in flavor, then the beef had been dipped in flour HEAVILY and dropped in the fryer...tasted like paste covered beef strips....not a solid piece of beef in the entire dinner. Plus, there were four tiny pieces of broccoli in an $11.00 dinner...not a good value. The Hunan chicken with mixed vegetables continued very few vegetables and was a disappointment for a $10.00 dinner. We have been there three times / same results so we are DONE. They obviously are struggling as the dinners are half the size of normal, portions appear to be cheapest meat available and the flavor is simply not up to par. Heading to Noodle House to give that a try... P.S. Whenever I order food for delivery it's always good, always on time, the order is always correct, so I can't say anything about that. I think this is our new go to spot for Chinese food. Prices aren't bad either. One weird thing I can say is almost every time I order from yelp there is a woman who delivers the food who will do one faint half knock on the front door then proceed to walk right into my house when the front door is closed! I had dinner here last night. Ordered 2 Mei fans one Chicken, 1 Shrimp. When I got it home opened and started to eat it it had no flavor. Cooked spaghetti some vegs and 6 pieces of shrimp for $9.00. It was horrible I had to chop some veggies put it all in my wok and start adding flavor to both the dinners. Why did I pay over $25.00 for pasta some shrimp some chicken and no flavor. Ever since China House left town we have No decent Chinese restaurants. This one the food has no flavor or its to watery. Its like some one wanted to be a Chinese cook buy a restaurant and cook when there profession was an engineer. I've given this restaurant many chances to get it right but after a year or two no more. The flavors were good and the fried chicken dishes were crisp and delicious. In fact, they estimated 45-60 minutes but were here in about 30, on a Friday night. I ordered the vegetable fried rice (my fav). Thanks to another review below, I requested no mushrooms or water chestnuts. They accommodated with broccoli, corn, carrots, peas, & chopped zucchini. It was so good. I added a little soy sauce because I like the flavor, but it was good without the extra if sodium is an issue for you. I also ordered some passion fruit tea, also really good. Fresh ingredients makes for happier customers! This being my first visit to Asian Wok, I was greeted by three wonderful children. This reminded me of several documentaries of Chinese culture and flea markets where families were all working. A young man took my order and gladly assisted. His mother came out later and thanked us for visiting. I was astonished by the lack of kitchen noise. Other Chinese take out shops I have been to have "hustle and bustle," noise coming from their kitchens. Asian Wok had absolutely none. My wife and I ordered mu shu dishes with sides of crab ragoons. My expectations were sub par ingredients and frozen pastries. I will have to say that all ingredients were fresh! Mu shu beef was flavorful, complex and succulent. I could taste all flavors and every bite was ever more so distinct than my last. Pancakes were very fresh and full of a floury texture. Crab ragoons were fluffy and crisp. They were full of flavor and packed with crab meat stuffing. They remind me of verenky I often deep fry and serve at parties. My wife was very pleased! Portion sizes are right on par with prices. Quality supersedes the price mark! I will be definitely be visiting this place again and providing further reviews. read more

My husband, my Son and I were all made sick off there food yesterday. I never had this problem with China house who by the way I ate at for over 20 years. This place is unclean we each had 3 different meals so being unclean is the only answer. I'll never eat here again. I have ordered pickup from this place twice and my partner and I love it. Egg rolls: some of the best I have ever had. Large and crispy. They even made some sweet and sour sauce for me on the spot which was excellent. Chicken cashew: we modified this by requesting it to be spicy and the spice level has been perfect each time. The chicken and vegetables were of good quality (not like the super fatty chicken you sometimes get). The favors are good and portions are sizable. You are not left wanting anything. Broccoli and shrimp: the shrimp were large and cooked perfectly. The flavored were great. Vegetable fried rice: perfectly cooked each time. Not sure why there are mushrooms in this though. I've never had mushrooms come in it. I'm not a fan of mushrooms though and knew to ask for that modification the second time I went in. Ambiance: they have a few comfortable booths but it is typically more of a takeout place. Customer service: So great. I was concerned when their line went straight to an answering machine when I called for the first time but when I went in to order they explained that it's because they don't have a multi line phone system. They are usually pretty busy and their phone rang a lot when I was waiting for my food. They are so nice there though. It seems like a family business and they're all working their butts off. Steamed pork dumplings were undercooked, chicken and broccoli was watery and bland. Wonton soup was good. We were sad to see they moved into the China House building after the China House owners retired. We will be looking for a new regular chinese spot as the undercooked food is an automatic no from us. I teetered between 4 and 5 star ratings. I wanted to give 5 for how fresh the vegetables are compared to other casual Chinese restaurants, the diversity of the menu, the polite and hardworking family that owns and operates the business, the cleanliness of the location... but overall food quality comes in at a solid 4. If you want to be wow'ed, order the chong qing (sp?) chicken or the pan fried noodles... I ordered the noodles with just vegetables and it was really good! The lo mein was also much better than average- nice flavor and not oily at all. I've also had the general tso chicken (different flavor than I am used to), sweet and sour chicken & pork fried rice and felt those were just so-so.
