Really enjoy their Chinese food. The people who work here and the service here is outstanding. Very peaceful and nice even when they aren't so busy

    Bug Beef Lo Mein

We ordered from the China cafe. We ordered beef Lo Mein for my immune compromised niece who is on the Onocolgy floor in the hospital. The beef Lo mien had bugs in yes BUGS. I have pictures to prove. So we took the plate of food back to the restaurant with the bug on it. The lady did not seem to care that the food they cooked had bugs in it she actually examined the bug and was playing with its dead corpse. Do not eat thier if you choose to be enjoy the extra protein. I will also be calling the health board.

This is my go to option for Chinese take-out. Their menu has typical Americanized Chinese food along with some options that I don't see elsewhere. Everything I've gotten from China cafe has been delicious, particularly their wonton soup, pork egg foo young (which is loaded with what seems to be very fresh veg as well), general tso's chicken & lo mein. I've picked up food to go as well as delivery and every experience has met my expectations and then some. Def my fav, thank you China cafe for the scrumptious noms!!!

We ended up here when every other restaurant in armory square had an hr wait. We were waited on by the owners kids who were adorable. Food was decent and fairly priced. Pretty typical Americanized Chinese food, just what you'd expect.

    Pork with Asian peppers

This place may not be the most authentic Chinese, but it does come at a reaonsable cost, and with huge portions. Albeit oily and really spice infused. I have been coming to China Cafe regularly for a quick bite, for the past 3 years. I have had good and bad experiences, but mostly good. The good: I love the shredded pork with chilli pepper, mongolian beef, kung pao chicken, fish filet with tofu in chilly oil, and the most recent favorite is pork with Asian peppers. Oh my god! The caveat here is that the asian peppers are mind bogglingly spicy. I couldn't eat anymore than one before I looked around for something to calm down my burning tongue. But I loved the natural spice in this dish. Among other things tried and tested are the dimsums (decent), soups (depending on the time of day - great), hunan and szechuan chicken (nice), and many more. They are mostly popular for takeouts and deliveries, but I generally enjoy my conversations with the restaurant hosts. They are really nice people. Bad: if you are going at the end of the day, avoid the soup. I think they make it earlier in the evening, and by night the water kind of condenses into vapor and makes the soup way concentrated. Also, I do not like the general tso's chicken here. I wouldn't advise ordering that either. The environment is not exactly a typical dine-in kind. So if you want a quiet space for dinner, or plan to entertain, then don't try coming here.

Phenomenal food!…read more We're in Syracuse for a conference, and didn't want to spend a fortune for mediocre food at the conference hotel, so we set out to find a good local spot via Yelp. Su Su Dim Sum came up at the top of the list, so off we went. I ordered a small (pint) of hot and sour soup and lamb with scallions. My wife ordered tangerine beef, and then we ordered red bean paste steamed buns to go for breakfast tomorrow. The soup was thick, full of chunks of tofu, plenty of vegetables, a little less peppery and a little less pungent than we like, but still better than typical Chinese restaurant fare. A bowlful of fried noodles came on the side. A great start! My wife, a veterinarian, suspected that the lamb was actually beef, but that question aside, the lamb dish was delicious, with plenty of meat, chunks of bell pepper, and abundant scallions, in a delicious sauce. The star of the night was the tangerine beef, lightly breaded and perfectly fried, in a savory and slightly sour sauce. A few broccoli florets, a handful of tangerine segments, and a wonderful thick sauce completed the dish perfectly. We packed up the leftovers, collected the steamed buns, and headed back to the hotel. We grabbed some menus to give to fellow conference attendees when they ask where we went out to dinner.

We love dim sum so we looked up the local places that served it & found Su Su. The space is simple & I believe it may have once been a diner at one point in time. The staff tried their best as there were a fair amount of to-go orders & walk-ins. (As I said it was Valentine's Day) We decided to order a few different things. Each one was excellent. The flavors & temperature of each item were fantastic. I really enjoyed the pineapple fried rice. We'll certainly be going back to try a few more things!

The reviews looked promising, so I called ahead and placed my order. They told me it would be ready in about 10 minutes, which was perfect. I ordered wonton soup, orange chicken, and house fried rice (my favorite because you get the mix of chicken, shrimp, and sometimes pork). I completely forgot to take photos when I first got my food, so the pictures I posted are actually from the leftovers I brought to work the next day for lunch -- which also shows they give solid portion sizes, pretty typical and generous for a Chinese restaurant. The staff was very kind, and one thing I really appreciated was that they had utensils and sauces set out for customers to grab themselves. I feel like a lot of restaurants can be a little stingy with sauces or charge for every extra, so it was refreshing to be able to take what I needed without having to ask. For that alone, I'd give them five stars for customer service. As for the food, it was good -- not bad at all -- but I personally wanted a little more flavor and seasoning. I would definitely eat here again, but I'm still on the search for my go-to Chinese spot. If anyone has recommendations for a place with bold flavor and great seasoning, let me know!

Big portions that are reasonably priced and several tables for large groups. It's in a former Chinese grocery and the decor wasn't much of an upgrade. The ordering experience was one of the most bizarre and frustrating I've had in recent years. But the food itself was delicious. Since we were driving with young wailing kids in the backseat, we called the restaurant 20 minutes out to place our order. The lady who picked up the phone told me in Chinese that the restaurant was very busy, so I should place the order when I was 10 minutes away, or better yet, when I was at the restaurant. I tried to explain that the whole point of placing the order by phone was to avoid waiting, but she had put a male Chinese-speaking colleague on the phone, who told me to just order at the restaurant because he was too busy to take phone orders. With that, he promptly hung up on me. Ten minutes out, I called again and tried to order eggplant in garlic sauce and fish in chili oil. The same man I had spoken to before had tried to get me to just place the order when I arrived at the restaurant, but I again told him that we were trying to avoid waiting for our food since we had young children (now screaming) in the car. He reluctantly took my order (I was told that my third request--vermicelli with spiced minced pork--was not available). Frustratingly, when we arrived at the restaurant, they had not even started cooking our food, so we had to wait about 15 minutes. The food itself was superb. The eggplant is some of the best I've had. The fish in chili oil was also wonderfully tender, though there was a slightly higher ratio of Napa cabbage to fish than what I've usually experienced for this dish at other restaurants. The interior of the restaurant was modest and cafeteria-like. I can't comment on the service quality for dining in. If it weren't for the rough phone ordering experience, I would be keen on ordering takeout or dining in there again.
