Went here for lunch the other day. It was busy but the employees were moving slow. When I walked in I noticed that it was clean. I walked up and got ready to order since I was the next person in line to order my food. They had 2 people working the register. When it was my turn to place my order one of the cashiers walked off for about 5 minutes and since the other was still helping the same customer I was stuck waiting until the other cashier returned. By the time the cashier returned there was a line almost out the door. So I placed my order and went to the pickup counter. When I got to the pickup counter I noticed a manager or senior employee reading off the orders to other staff which slowed things down. She could have helped prep food to speed things up. I had about 6 people in front of me who had been waiting on their food for a while. So after about another 15 minutes I finally got my food. I had ordered (2) you pick 2 meals. The (2) meals were (2) cups of soup and (2) half turkey sandwiches, that was all. Needless to say one of the sandwiches was wrong. Even though the order was messed up and it took forever to get the food, it was still a tasty meal. I will go back just not when they are busy because they move to slow and mess up orders. read more

I spent over $30. I get my order and my whole sandwich was just a half piece of bread thrown not even wrapped in bottom of bag. I am very unsatisfied! Last time my sandwiches were just thrown together and part of my order was missing, thought I would give them another chance, I now regret that. This experience along with the previous one has made me not want to go to Panera bread anymore. Save your money and the frustration go to McAllisters or Subway. I called and talked to manager and was told to come back for a remake and refund. I got there and lady was rude and grabbed bag off the counter I brought in and didn't even look at what I was trying to explain to her and threw it away and said here all the while having attitude like me being there and them having to remake it and give me a refund was a inconvenience for her. I refuse to go back they can keep their rudeness to themselves cause I know what good customer service is and they don't have it. I don't see how they're still open and running if they do people this way. I read other reviews after this and was astonished how they are. I used to be a fan of Panera but stopped going because it seemed a bit expensive for what it is. I have three reasons for the two star rating: 1) The cost is still outrageous for what Panera is; 2) the menu is a bit limiting; 3) the dining room of Paneras always seem like they need attention. I went with a friend, and we ordered the "you pick 2" and each had a bowl of soup and 1/2 sandwich. Neither one of us ordered drinks. Our bill came to $20. For just a few dollars more I could go to a sit-down restaurant and order a bit more substantial meal. I like soup and sandwiches & salads and sandwiches; but, the Panera menu has seriously shrunk over the years. And, the quality of my favorites has decreased. One of my favorite things used to be the broccoli cheddar soup, but it appears the recipe has changed, as the salt content was entirely too high. I also used to really enjoy the smokehouse turkey, but it is no longer on the menu. Honestly, I found it difficult to find another 1/2 sandwich that seemed appealing but ended up with the turkey/avocado sandwich. It was uninspiring. The tomato was green, and the sandwich was, at best, bland. Every single time I have ever been in a Panera, I have had to find the least dirty table and then clean it. As a customer who is paying to buy food, I shouldn't have to, also, clean the dining room. While I give this Panera 2-stars, I should note that it isn't this particular Panera; it's all Paneras that just seem to no longer appeal to me. read more

I got half of the turkey avocado blt, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the saddest "sandwich" I've ever seen. It had: 1/2 a tomato slice 1/4 teaspoon bacon BITS (not even bacon slices?! This sandwich is basically just bread. Almost no cheese, the skinniest egg, and zero bacon. Not to mention the fact that I waited 10 mins for it. I rarely come to the Summerville one, haven't been in over a year bc the last time I did I got a sandwich with bad meat on it. But I took it to the manager and they expressed true regret for it and made it right. So here I am again. More importantly the staff was very kind about our staying after closing to finish our meeting. One of the employees said we could stay as long as we didn't want to order any more food. Awful experience! I actually had not visited this Panera location. My daughter asked for broccoli and cheese soup. That's all she wanted after having a mouth procedure. I decided to call in the family dinner. I had to call because the website was not letting me order online. Ok cool. My husband does curbside pickup and comes home. The entire order was wrong and missing several items but I was charged for them. I called and spoke to a manager but he said he didn't know what to do and that someone would call me the next day. I receive no call back. I called up there and was told that person was already gone. I spoke to an assistant manager and had to explain everything again. Long story short we had to go back up there so we could get refunded all the items that were missing. But there was no apology. I think we should of received a credit or more refund since we didn't get most of the items ordered. read more

I like the fact that they offer vegan / vegetarian options. Restaurant is always clean, and staff is friendly. They are pricey, but healthy eating isn't exactly cheap. read more

This location is super easy to get in and out which is a great plus. The quality of the food and their prices (these are obviously not location specific) though make this chain a bust for me. I used to eat at Panera quite a lot a few years ago, but I can no longer tolerate their overpriced food and super salty sandwich options. There are so many other food options in Summerville and the Charleston area generally that I wouldn't recommend this location or this chain. read more

I am all about some Panera, but this location has got to change some things. The set up is awful. The parking lot is small, the drive thru lane/line blocks half of it and the spots are so tiny. The inside of the building itself is also set up in a terrible way. It is one of the smallest Panera's I have ever been in and they crammed so much stuff inside. Trying to find the ordering counter was tricky, as you had to go toward the back and around the corner to see it. I felt like I was in everyone's way when I was walking up to the counter, ordering, waiting for my order and then trying to leave. The service was bleh. Usually Panera employees are peppy and make you seem welcome in their store, but I felt a disconnect here. I think everyone was focused on the drive thru more. I get it, they want it fast, but dedicate employees to the front counter and others to the drive thru. Don't have the front counter people grabbing you things for drive thru and delaying my ordering because you need their help. I knew exactly what I wanted and said it when I went up, but I had to repeat each thing because she couldn't really figure out what I wanted. (Half/Half, soup & salad- easy! I even told her the side of an apple would be fine and no drink) She asked me what side and what drink after I stated each. Waiting for my food (to-go order) was interesting. I saw my order up on the screen, but drive-thru orders were priority and then an ordering ahead order was placed and that took priority. I understand that I went inside, but still. I am also a customer waiting and had a to-go order, so that should say that I don't have all the time in the world to sit and wait. The food was okay. Something tasted a little off with the soup, which is weird because I get the exact same thing at all Panera locations and they all taste fine. This one was just weird. I'm not sure why. I have seen a lot of complaints here about this place with regards to price points. One person even mentions it is on the "ghetto side of town." What a distracting, unnecessary comment. This place is spectacular and perfectly priced. Addition to the many food choices, the staff is incredibly friendly, a friendliness that is not forced--just genuinely kind people. I go for breakfast nearly weekly and I have been for lunch, too. Special shout out to cashier extraordinaire Sarah and charming manager (I assume) Gabriel. The food seems fresh with a classic eclectic Panera menu. Tried something new today. Roasted Turkey Caramelized Kale panini and Romaine Kale Chicken Caesar salad. Both subtle but savory items. I was really disappointed to find one thin oblong piece of roasted turkey with a quite small square of fresh mozzarella being swallowed in the center of the bread. I had to get a slice of regular mozzarella to feel like I ate more than grilled bread. Then it was more like grilled mozzarella. That really brought my score down. The salad was a pleasure but I only found 3 pieces of kale. The sitting area of the restaurant was peaceful but I've been here when it's busy and it's bustling! read more

I eat at Panera almost weekly in Rehoboth, Delaware. I always eat their salads. Today, at Panera in Summerville, I ordered the whole Strawberry Poppyseed salad that I eat often. It came in the half size bowl so I went back and questioned it. The gal behind the counter said they were out of large bowls and that they added extra ingredients to the smaller bowl. In my bowl are 4 pieces of strawberries, 4 blueberries and 3 small pieces of pineapple. In no way was this a whole salad. If I didn't eat them regularly, I wouldn't know different. So let me start off by saying I LOVE panera bread. Their prices are a little high, but it's worth paying extra for healthy fresh food. The portions at this location are absolutely ridiculous though. I wouldn't recommend going through the drive thru if you're ordering a salad. They are extremely stingy when it comes to chicken and salad toppings. I paid almost $15 for a BBQ chicken salad and a green passion power smoothie that was only 2/3 full. I have no idea why I keep coming back :(. The panera in North Charleston is much better! I've never had an issue with sandwiches though. I would recommend going across the street to Newks or Atlanta bread if you can help it. read more

I rarely take the time to leave negative comments but my experiences with this location have been bad every time. Once we ordered delivery and the driver forgot my sandwich. She said she would be back with it. That was about six months ago. Hopefully she'll be back any day now. . . About a month ago I went to the drive through for two sandwiches and two drinks. We had to wait 15 minutes and when we got home my Cuban sandwich was made with burnt wheat bread. Today my husband picked up mac and cheese with BBQ chicken. When I opened the container there was mac and cheese, BBQ sauce and onion straws -- no chicken. I am a regular customer at Panera, the last two weeks I have decided not to buy food there as the service is extremely rude behind the counter 8/4 at 7:20 pm, and our orders were put together haphazardly. I usually have a good experience there, but recently I had a really unusual thing happen. I had lunch with a friend, and before I left I decided to get something from the bakery. I looked at the choices and asked a few questions about them. There were 4 young people behind the counter, and they answered my questions. So I went to the register to tell them what I wanted and pay. Everyone disappears except 2 young men. I found the management at this store to be unwilling to help what looked like very overworked young employees. Food times were slow and drive thru was also backed up. The drive thru line is what caused me to go inside. When I looked around I began to understand why the line was so long. I saw management letting this go on and not assisting. My sister and I went through the drive thru (which we love about this location b/c not many Panera in Charleston have drive thru). We order a large ice coffee with caramel, a smoothie , maple bacon wrap and a sesame bagel double toasted. We initially asked for a pumpkin muffin top which the young lady (Emily) related they didnt have the muffin or the muffie top..disappointing! When we got to the window my sister tried to give Emily her phone number since she's a Panera Rewards member and was told her the system was down. So my sister asked her well how can she make sure she's still able to retrieve her points and Emily had a slight attitude like she was annoyed and she told her to look at the bottom of the receipt and follow the steps and input it that way . We afterwards got our food ..everything was right except the ice coffee we asked for a large coffee and they gave us a regular size cup . So my sister relayed to her that she asked for a large (and we paid for a large) and handed her back the drink and Emily definitely showed in her face at this point she was annoyed with us and asked that we pull up and the drink will be up in a minute . 3 mins later Emily came out with the drink , handed it to my sister and walked off . Didn't see if it was right , tasted good and just making sure we were good . I don't go to this location often but not excited about going back out our way to go again . read more

I've given Panera Bread two stars for their delicious bread and flavor of their soups. I had the chicken noodle recently which had very few noodles or chicken, but it had the perfect flavor. I purchased for two people, but was only given one spoon. It seems there is always something that disappoints me when I visit. I so want to love this restaurant and I don't want to give up on it. For the prices, I really wish they'd add more meat to their sandwiches and ingredients to their soups. The cashier appeared irritated that I wasn't ordering fast enough and I felt rushed. I hadn't been there in a while, as I usually come in every 8-12 months or so. I was the second in a line of two, inside at the time. Yet, Panera Bread has so much potential. Every once in awhile I treat myself to panera bread but not often because its expensive so this afternoon I was on the go so I went thru the drive thru u ordered the superfruit smoothie and the Chipotle chicken avocado melt.. The superfruit smoothie was a steal I absolutely love smooties especially fresh organic and homemade ones as I make them myself... The sandwich however was alittle spicer than I anticipated with the smoked pulled chicken topped with pepper dew peppers and black pepper focacci I think the best feature out of the sandwich was the cheese and avocado only because it was very spicy. However I still like to order food here my tradition meal is the cheese bowl of Broclie and it comes with there signature bread I like that the bread can go with just about anything even eaten plain it's still got a good taste. read more
