Mediterranean Chicken Salad - a new menu item, and delicious. And generous - this is a 1/2 size!
    Rob H.

I haven't been to a Panera Bread for a while, and I've been a fool to miss out. I love the coffee, the fresh baked goods, the changing menu, and the relaxing ambiance. I stopped in around 4 for a cup of coffee. After considering the guilty pleasures of their baked goods, I spotted a new entry on the menu - Mediterranean Chicken Salad. I'm glad I went for it; it was just what I wanted. I ordered a 1/2 portion, which was very generous (see pic), and full of tender chicken. Ordering was fast and easy, and I wheeled over to the pick-up area. (I'm a paraplegic.). I didn't expect any table service, and was happily waiting when the Panera team member smiled and said she'd be pleased to bring it to me. This embodied the attitude of the staff - pleasant and helpful, making Panera such an easy place to patronize. I thoroughly enjoyed my salad, the Mediterranean spin was a deft and tasty touch, with just the right amount of dressing. I'm lucky I had the time because I spent nearly 2 hours hanging out, grabbing a free drink refill, and reading a book I brought. As I was leaving, I was so glad I had stopped in, and I'll be back soon.

So this is my second time here. So far so good. The place is 100% clean! Food is good as always. Love it.

    Well kept dining room.

I have never had a problem with any Panera location. I'm shocked that this location has such a low rating. Most of the reviews seem to be from a long time ago. Maybe they've changed since then. I just started coming to this Summerville location about a year ago now. Never any issues and I've been here numerous times. Today, I decided to roll up to Panera around 3pm. I came inside to see no one was in line in front of me. I thought about what I wanted whilst looking at the menu. The cashier patiently waited on me to make my decision. I made up my mind and told her I want a Strawberry Poppyseed Salad. It said it is in season. Cool. I ordered it with a baguette. This comes with the salad. You have a choice of sides but I love my bread. The baguette is like a piece of French bread. Good. I also ordered a drink and a chocolate croissant for later. The pastry only costs $.99 when you buy an entree. The salad was so good. It had lettuce of course, plus it was covered in strawberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges, pecans, pineapple pieces, and chicken. This is a very fruity and sweet salad. Just how I like it. The pineapples were sliced thin and large, not like the tidbits in a can. I think Panera is a good place to come eat by yourself. It's got coffee shop vibes, with a better selection of food. There were several other people here today eating by themselves. They have lots of small tables. They also have random walls in the middle of the restaurant, blocking your view of everyone there. So you feel like you're in a small, intimate area with just a couple other people. Many people come here and work on their tablet or laptop. Panera offers free wifi to their customers. Overall, I really like Panera. Their food is good and seems healthy. The service is always pretty quick and efficient. I like how you can chill here for an hour or so without anyone trying to kick you out. It's a great place to eat and / or work. It's also a good place to meet up with people over lunch and talk! Try this place out if you haven't already. Or if it's been awhile, try it again!!!

Summer strawberry salad, with mac and cheese - ask for dressing on the side, way too much was used.

It has been awhile since I've been to a Panera. Their quality is just okay and not what it used to be. Of these fast casual restaurant's, I prefer Zoe's Kitchen. Since there isn't one of those on this side of town, we stopped at Panera - I would have preferred Chicken Salad Chick across the street, but they are closed on Sunday's. At any rate, I got the summer strawberry salad. It has overall good flavor, but it was doused in dressing, like swimming in a pool of dressing. Absolutely too much, so I didn't eat much of it. Next time, I would get it on the side. The other thing is that it is on a bed of iceburg lettuce - come on, use a little bit better quality salad. The fruit was at least good. I do enjoy their mac and cheese, but I wish it were served warmer, it's usually not very warm - which is consistent at any Panera location.

Well this location is ONLY open for pick up/take out orders. FYI I ordered the Fiji Apple Salad. It was ok, Panera sort of skimped on the grilled chicken and a bit more blue cheese crumbles would have been nice but the little freeze dried apple slices were cute and pretty good, it was low in calorie (280) according the Panera website and the cost was a little over $7.00. Overall it was the half salad and if you have a large appetite or prefer a salad with lots of chicken or protein it might not be for you. The staff seemed pleasant considering the current pandemic. Note- Ask for an extra dressing and extra blue cheese.

Very disappointed, again. Ordered curbside pick up and when my order was supposed to be done, I waited. And waited. I finally went in to inquire and told the cashier my issue and she immediately knew the name on the order and sure enough, she found it sitting on the counter ready to be "delivered". This is the second time this has happened to me at this location. The food was good and fresh but they need to pay closer attention to orders especially when it was not busy at all.

My husband and I came here on our first morning in SC right after we moved here from out of state. I ordered the "vicious benny" which was eggs benedict with ham and hollandaise sauce. Everything about my benny tasted like it was meant for Queen Elizabeth (RIP) or someone of high caliber to be eating. It was so freaking good, that it didn't seem worthy of my peasant palate! In addition to the huge, fluffy, amazing biscuit, they did not forget to make the ham & hollandaise just as fantastic; ham had lots of unexpected flavor and I wanted to drink a bucket of the hollandaise sauce as I'm 100% sure it's the BEST one I've ever had. I'm definitely coming back as soon as possible and would recommend that anyone/everyone do the same! :)

So after plugging in "gluten-free breakfast in Summerville" here on Yelp, Vicious Biscuit was one of the choices. Located in Nexton which has quickly become one of my favorite areas to find good food in Summerville. Upon entering. I was greeted and given the opportunity to glance over the menu without being rushed. I let her know of my gluten allergy and she was quick to provide me with options. They have so many gluten-free options to choose from. It was my intent to dine-in but I needed to leave. I ordered a gluten-free biscuit with sides of grits, chicken sausage and a scrambled egg to-go. I was offered a cup of water as I waited. The restaurant had several customers dining in. The seating area is very spacious and I loved all of the natural lighting coming in. There's a bar with so many types of butters, jams and etc to choose from. One of the workers came over to help me and answered all my questions. That sweet potato butter was divine!!! I needed to use the restroom before my next stop (I hate public restrooms by the way!) it was super clean. When I did have the opportunity to eat, I wished that I'd ordered more biscuits!! It was so good!!! I can't wait to go back and actually sit-in to dine!

When we got down to the last one, we both realized the "odd looking fritter" in the bowl that we were both avoiding, was the jam (oops!). It was a similar color and shape to the fritters but we both just laughed about avoiding it. For my entree, I was sold on the "award-winning" shrimp & grits that were featured on the Today show (as per their menu). Surprising that this meal made it that far as it didn't taste like anything special to me. It was not bad but very basic/plain; so basic that it felt like something was missing. The restaurant is roomy and decorated with both English staples and salutes to local first responders. Unlike its originator they cook their fish to order so there may be a slight wait, but it is very much worth it. When I go, I like to order the Tennet's lager which is smooth and crispy and full of flavor. Instead of chips we tried the Manchester Special which are their famous chips with gravy and cheese. The gravy was rich and savory with plenty of ooey gooey cheese. Perfect on a cold winter's day! We tried the Battered Sausage which had a large smokey sausage fried golden brown. It was ok but I wished the sausage was spicier but that's just me. I have never had a Doner Kebob, but I discovered that it is basically a gyro. Now I went with the standard lamb with onions, lettuce, and tomatoes with a feta spread and tzatziki sauce, but you could also order different sauces and toppings. All in all, a pretty decent gyro with lots of meat. Finally, you can't come here and not try the fish. Nicely battered and cooked to a perfect golden brown this filet really hit the spot. Been meaning to stop in since I heard a few opened up in the area but this location is super out of the way to me. Had some time to burned today so I stopped in. I got the Italian which was a favorite of mine, and it did not disappoint. Overflowing with meats and cheeses and toppings! If anything it was too stuffed and hard to handle. Tasted fantastic and the sheer size made the price - around $15 for just the sandwich - feel like a decent value at the least. Service was friendly but it took a long time to get the sandwich. Inside is just a basic fast food setup, nothing fancy just a few tables. I'm glad to see Primo Hoagies here in the Charleston area, nice to have them as an option! J.Ja

Full disclosure, I have long lost Italian roots that stretch back to my childhood and "Goodfellas"…read moretype family who owned a butcher and sandwich shop in Connecticut. I say that because my affinity for cold grinders (hoagies, subs, torpedoes, etc) is legendary among family and restaurants across the nation as I've lived everywhere; most recently Austin TX. Back to the point, after Googling "sub shops near me" I've finally knocked PrimoHoagies off my list. My review is better than average, however please continue reading for my "professional" breakdown but note, I formed my review from one review and "hoagies" can be extremely subjective. Located in a safe part but lonely and isolated part of town PrimoHoagies has a small little store that doesn't really commit to having customers stay for lunch, rather it's meant for a pick up and leave. I'm not saying one can't stay for lunch but I found the facility's ambiance drab and lifedraining. Mainly because I worked at Subway many years ago and the interior reminds me of my horrible experiences. My own pettiness aside, it works for what's it's designed for, the pickup and leave mentality. I like the big screens with their menus and the many drink options however no fountain drinks seems like an odd choice. There are a lot of interesting chips to choose from as well as "home-made" sides. Lets start with said sides. I got the pasta salad and my two greatest fears were realized. First the pasta was overcooked thus bloated with too much cooking water. I despise huge mushy pasta. Next the remaining oil and vinegar liquid was enough to feed a small army. The flavor was ok but those first two points really brought down the experience. Next the potato salad was surprisingly decent. The potatoes had enough rigidity to them while it also offered an interesting sour after affect. I thought it was mustard but I'm still not sure. Still an above average effort. As for the stars of the show, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try the Abruzzi. I find this hoagie interesting as I've seen this type of sandwich many times before with a restaurant in Philly winning many awards with the ingredient combination. The bread is decent but after your teeth cut through the bread you can taste the nicely roasted pork immediately followed by the slightest bit of earthiness and heat from the broccoli rabe. Yes this is by far makes the sandwich which is followed by the experience from the provolone which gives it a certain funk and serious sharpness. This isn't my type of hoagie but it was a good item to try once. As for the star of my show, I ordered the mild Italian but I asked the young lady to substitute the prosciutto for ham. Don't get me wrong, I love prosciutto but I find it over powers grinders as it's too intense and salty for the rest of the sandwich. Well, the lady gave me a ham sub and I wasn't very happy to say the least. Therefore, my review for a HAM sandwich (sorry I'm still angry) was it was ok. The ingredients were fresh and the bread had a nice crunch on the outside while being moist on the inside with a little chew. They did give a lot of protein so they' don't skimp on the meat. However when paying 14 for 9" of sub, that should be a given. In summary I rank PrimoHoagies middle of the road with slightly elevated prices. They do offer some hoagie combinations and ingredients a customer can't find at other restaurants which is refreshing however I suggest being very clear with your order, then checking it. As for the sides, I would say skip them unless you'd like the potato salad or the mac salad which I didn't try. The people are extremely nice here, but not very attentive at least for my one crucial request. I don't see myself coming back however Primohoagies will work over some of the most well known and very much older chains (you know of whom I speak).
