Viva Chicken in Summerville served an amazing food experience from the beginning to the end! The roasted chicken was juicy, tender, and super tasty . Viva Chicken - Quarter 1/2 Chicken with 2 Sides (Peruvian Fried Rice and Plantains) - Chicken Shop Near Me - Summerville, South Carolina

I came back after a year and decided to try this place again. But this time I wanted to try their pollo ala brasa which is what Peru is known for (rotisserie chicken). The staff are very friendly, working hard and walking around to assist. The place was pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon. I got the half chicken with 2 sides and it was only $17 which I thought was a great value for all the food you get. Man on man, that chicken was juicy, tender and so delicious. I got the side of their rice and chicken soup for extra protein. This time around they have a station with some sauces and I loved all of them. I enjoyed everything about this meal and I came back a week later and got the same thing. They are very consistent and I will continue to come back! read more

Solid chicken spot in the Nexton area! This was my first time here and it was really good. The rotisserie chicken was cooked perfectly and so juicy with great flavor. The Caesar wrap was good too, but could have used a bit more seasoning. I think the sides stole the show- the green beans were to die for, and the corn salad and cilantro rice were excellent. The food came out quickly and the portions were generous. There are different sauces as well to spice up your meal how you like! The inside is a little smaller but looks to have outdoor seating as well to enjoy on a nice day. read more

Great menu, great sauces, great price point, and everything is fresh. We ordered the basic meal with a quarter chicken and two sides. You gotta go double plantains, right? Service was friendly and eager to answer our questions as this was our first Viva chicken run. Other families/patrons we noticed were all enjoying their meals. Our main/constructive feedback is to keep the chicken as hot as possible before plating. Our chicken had cooled off, most likely because our sides were being cooked. read more

10/10. This is my second time here but at a different location. And honestly- the flavor here is UNREAL. We got a whole Chicken, corn salad, fries (for the kids) and steak saltado. DELICIOUS! Even my kids ate it all, which says a lot for picky littles. The restaurant was extremely clean and spacious. The music they had was a faster paced song and we loved it. read more

Not bad. I had the steak. They could have added more meat. Definitely could have added more meat. But besides that it was ok. Add more meat read more

Have you ever had Peruvian chicken before? If not, this is your sign you should give it a try. I've been to Viva many times and always get their rotisserie chicken this time. I tried out their Summer chicken salad and I'm a chicken salad girly so I love it. This chicken salad was on a ciabatta bun and it was really soft and the chicken salad is itself is very flavorful. You could also get it as a salad so you can get the chicken salad on top of a salad and actually that was my favorite way to eat it this time. The salad was so Lux and had so many components like every bite It was just a full little flavor dance and I know it's for a limited time but if you're in the next Summerville area, check them out perfect spot for lunch. They have indoor seating outdoor seating and they also have some amazing fresh juices. It's a yummy good time whenever I pop in there. read more

After reading reviews and seeing the pictures of the food I was super excited to try some chicken and Peruvian food. Unfortunately the food itself wasn't very impressive. The chicken was good but the white chicken parts were a little dry. The yucca fries were just ok. They weren't very crispy and not seasoned. The canary beans were just not good. I actually didn't finish eating them and I normally love beans. The yellow sauce it came with was just ok as well. I did like the purple juice. It tasted like grape juice with cinnamon and clove. The service was fine, and the place is very casual. I most likely won't be back as it was very mediocre for $18. read more

I ordered 1/2 chicken, dark meat, and it was juicy and delicious. I would have liked more seasoning on the legs, but there was plenty nestled in the creases of the thighs. The meat was so tender and the skin crisp. The corn salad was fresh and flavorful, an excellent side. The plantains were perfectly caramelized and soft but not mushy. Hubby's fries were great, but he found the fried rice bland so I told him to put some of the green sauce in it. He liked it! The queso is fun for dipping the fries, and the yellow and green sauces are spectacular with the chicken. I want to try the red next time. I am happy to have new flavor options and cuisines moving into our area and coming to Ubereats. We'll be ordering again, but first we have tres leches cake and churros for dessert. read more

Viva Chicken - I started eating the refreshing corn salad before remembering to take a pic. Tender chicken and delicious plantains! - Chicken Shop Near Me - Summerville, South Carolina

This was a cool little Peruvian restaurant that we visited after going to Cypress Gardens. They specialize in Peruvian rotisserie chicken and offer a nice variety of sides. We ordered at the counter and a nice young lady explained what some sides. A few minutes later she brought our meals to the table. I ordered the 1/4 chicken, cilantro rice, and canary beans. I was a somewhat disappointed with the size of the chicken but the flavor was out of this world and extremely moist. The cilantro rice was slightly dry but the flavor more than made up for the dryness. I had never had canary beans prior to this and it was delicious. They are similar to pintos and were simmered in a slightly tightened broth with tasty spices. Loved it and plan on making some at home. My wife had a fruit cup and fries with her chicken. The fries were fantastic but the fruit cup was lacking. If I came again, I would definitely pay the extra $5.00 for the 1/2 chicken. Overall, it was a nice lunch. read more

I would like to complain about the service. Our waitress had walked past our table multiple times, looked at our number and walked back into the kitchen. I hope it was not on purpose but if it is I am very disappointed. We had been waiting for 45 minutes and finally got our food. I'm not sure if it is the table number system or if the waiter was being disrespectful. Overall the food was great and im glad we finally got our food after being passed by the waiter 4 times... read more

I enjoyed the food very much. Full of flavor. Great prices. Nice dining room. Will definitely be back.

Easy quick casual spot for peruvian chicken. Easy ordering, very much like chipotle-feel. They have great sauces for the Rotisserie chicken. A little on the pricey side, but that might be myself spoiled by Costco deals, lol. The service was friendly and my dinner came out quickly. Their sides of yuca and plantains were delicious. Definitely worth it to get sides! So if you're in Nexton, and just not dressed for Hall's, this is a great choice if you live that ath-leisure like me. Cheers! read more

Viva chicken is such an awesome addition to Nexton! We have loved everything we have tried! The staff is so friendly and made great suggestions when we asked about different options. My husband had the quarter chicken with yuca fries and rice. The yuca fries are amazing.. almost like a hearty sweet potato! I have tried all of the salads and they are all delicious! The fruit on the salad was fresh and the queso fresco was the perfect topping! You can add it to any salad. I did not get a picture of the churro because my kids devoured them!!! We really enjoyed Viva Chicken. My spouse and I shared the whole chicken family meal (with plenty leftover for future meals). The whole chicken is rotisserie cooked chicken that has a crispy skin and good flavor. The meal comes with three family sized sides (we chose the corn salad, French fries, and fried rice). The corn salad portion is enormous and was our least favorite of the three sides. In the future, I might try out the green beans as a veg side option. The fries and fried rice were both great. Viva chicken is a quick service style place where you order at the counter. If dining in, someone will bring your food to your table. We found the service to be quick and friendly. Inside, the ambiance feels similar to other quick service burrito places. When we went at dinner, there was plenty of space inside and a small patio for outside dining. I appreciated that Viva Chicken was something a little different. It was less greasy than a lot of fast food and quick service restaurants. It tasted more like a home-cooked meal. read more

Amazing Peruvian chicken restaurant at Nexton. Chicken is very moist and tasty. Comes with a side sauce but you don't need it because the chicken is very good by itself. Sides are very large. Love Viva! Stoked that it made it's way to Summerville! There is so much I love about it! The chicken, the sides, the sauces, and the tres leches cake! The app is a great way to order ahead if you want to order to go. You can choose curbside or inside for pickup. Be sure to sign up for the rewards program. The family meal is where it's at for the busy week nights! It easily feeds a family of four and for less then $25. It's something different and better then the typical fast food. Viva has my favorite fries. Pair them with the yellow sauce. You won't be disappointed. This location has the option to dine outside as well if you would like. Another experience at Viva chicken and it did not disappoint one bit! I did a mobile order to go and I wanted to try something new. I ordered the Inca Burrito with chicken and a side of fries. The Inca burrito comes with rice (I opted for the cilantro rice), avocado, beans, onions, salsa criolla and tomato. The fries were so crispy and well seasoned! The burrito is huge!! (I think that's why they gave me two sets of utensils because it can feed two people... literally) The burrito was flavorful but what really made it a 10/10 was the onions. They were like pickled onions and all the flavors came together really well. I also got two Amarillo sauces (THE BEST). Viva chicken does it again! Super satisfied and well priced for the amount of food I got! read more

This is my go to place for fast, healthy food. I have never met a friendlier staff!! This place does it right.

Having been to Peru, we're keen on reminding our taste buds about the magic of Huacatay and all things corn and roasted chicken. If you are not a fan of cilantro, jalapeños or lime then this might not be a good choice for you. If you ARE - run, don't walk here. Yucca fries? Yep. Rice? Yep. And those canary beans? I decided to try Viva Chicken with my granddaughter and daughter. I have to note that I do not like hot peppers or sauces. I tried the tucu bowl with shredded chicken and jasmine rice. The mild sauce was to spicy for me and without any sauce it was very bland and tasteless. The portions are huge, way to much food unless your sharing. The kids meal bowl had so much food that my granddaughter and I could have shared it and still had some leftover. 42.00 for 2 tunu bowls, a kids meal, 2 drinks, and one side order of tortillas. Price is not bad for 8 meals as that is how much we had left over and can make lunch and dinner out of the left overs. I won't be back, sorry but there has to be some options for people who do not like hot sauces. read more

I've tried this place twice now. The first time I only ordered the fried plantains and they were good. They were lightly fried and a small side comes with 4 pieces and the family size comes with 8 pieces. On my second visit I ordered the Viva Salad with pulled chicken, it comes with red onion, avocado, tomato, greens, and cheese, the veggies were super fresh, the cheese was slightly salty and creamy, very good. The chicken, which I was excited to try since the place is named "Viva Chicken" was plentiful but bland. I thought they advertised it was flavored with Peruvian spices, I tasted no flavor. My friend ordered the quarter chicken which comes with two small sides, reported that the chicken was bland as well. It smelled good and looked good but it lacked flavor. Overall disappointed in the chicken but the customer service, attention to safety precautions (every one wearing masks) freshness of ingredients, overall concept were all good. Note-They do have outdoor seating. read more

My wife has eaten here a few times and wanted me to check it out. Upon walking in, I observed that it was clean. The employees were polite and friendly. The chicken was enjoyable and seasoned well. It was also juicy. For my side I had the cilantro rice. I was not a fan of this which surprised my wife because I like cilantro. In my opinion it had too much cilantro. If the cilantro rice would have been better then I would have given this a 4 star review. read more

Bring a sandwich! We did a take out so we don't really know how the dine in service is but looks good. We ordered a whole chicken that comes with three "family" sides We were disappointed when we got home for a couple of reasons: We asked the lady at the counter if the yucas were real or if they were processed, she had only been working there for a few days and there is nothing wrong with that. She went and asked the manager/owner and came back and said they buy them frozen from someone that boils the yucas and freezes them before this place fries them. that wasn't true, these are from a powder run through a machine that makes them all identical, most likely from US Foods. Real yucas come in different sizes and the texture is different, flavor was ok, tastes like yuca but they should not hide the fact that it is processed. No stars taken since it is a small thing as to not being straight forward with origin of yucas. Sauces don't taste as they are named or they are so diluted they don't taste like the real thing. One star taken for sauces and here is why. Huacatay has a very distinct flavor, this tastes more like parsley with lime juice, so much lime juice that masks all else. Aji amarillo, again I never had it with lime juice and mayo, aji amarillo is served by itself and it has a flavorful kick. Rocoto is a pepper very high in the Scoville scale, at least 50K this was mayo with a little kick, it has so much lime juice that I can't really tell what it is but it is not Rocoto, it should be almost Thai hot. Ok, so maybe they run out of all three due to supply chain and had a creative cook in the kitchen, you can fool some of the people all the time.. Now to my opening remark, if you have seen rotisserie chicken at Costco or Sam's Club the chickens here are half the size, at least ours was, can't feed a family of four, it was like a Cornish hen, seriously it was tiny and with too much cumin. One star for the size of the chicken, two pound chicken doesn't "feed four once or one four times" seriously? Whole chicken comes with three "family" sides, they were medium at best, I understand this is subjective, "family" size is eight yucas so small must be 4. Lastly, I didn't see any smoke out of the chimney and I wonder if the ovens are Natural gas as I see a blue hose behind the oven and a gas pipe as well. Could be deceiving but I don't want to take more stars because there is another oven in the back that could be charcoal. Will come back and try again to see if they made any changes to the sauces and the size of their chicken. read more

Great ingredients: zero taste My lovely wife and I try to get around to the various restaurants of Summerville. We had seen this establishment several times while eating next door at the Fish n Chip place. We were looking forward to what, by all appearances, should have been a healthy and tasty meal with a South American flare. No such luck. While the ingredients in our meals offered the potential for great taste, there was none, zero, zip, nada. Not even Dutch food is that bland. Management, send a team to Peru, Venezuela, and Brazil to learn how to authentically spice dishes. Then, come back and implement it throughout the chain. Won't be back until then. read more

I'm Peruvian and recently moved from Maryland, where there are tons of authentic Peruvian charbroiled chicken spots--so I was really looking forward to trying this place. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The chicken lacked that signature flavor and smokiness you'd expect, the fries were soggy, and the rice was bland with no real seasoning. It didn't feel authentic at all, and definitely didn't live up to the standard of Peruvian cuisine I'm used to. Won't be coming back. read more

Picked up the Bruno's chicken family meal: one rotisserie chicken and 3 sides. Ordered online and the meal was ready almost 10 minutes before my scheduled pick up time. Chicken was moist and flavorful. All three sides were tasty. There was more than enough for four adults to share. At $27.00 after tax, I couldn't beat the price. Will definitely be back! read more

NEW in Nexton! Y'all come down and check out the incredibly delicious food at Viva Chicken! My husband and I stopped on and checked it out today, ordering the Whole Chicken, Yuca & Arroz Chaufa. The chicken was amazing! The chicken breast (usually the driest part of the chicken) was juicy and so full of flavor. The yuca was better with the sauce, but what I liked about the yuca most was that it was root vegetables and not potatoes. The plantains were sweet & delicious. They gave us a medium sauce with the chicken, but honestly, we preferred the chicken without the sauce. They offer all kinds of drinks from soda to juices like passion fruit, which my husband had and it was yummy. We will definitely be door dashing this healthy option on busy nights! read more
