    The Primo Pilgrim

Thanksgiving came early at Primo Hoagies, and the Primo Pilgrim might just be my new favorite! It has fresh turkey, mayo, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. It's like the perfect Thanksgiving bite in sandwich form. I never really understood the cranberry thing at Thanksgiving dinner, but now I totally get it! Pair it with their crispy chips and one of their desserts like dirt cake or rice pudding for the ultimate comfort meal. If you're craving a fresh, authentic sandwich that tastes like the holidays, this is the one. Service was great and we got our food quick. Great to pick up and take to go or dine in. Relaxed environment.

    Very hard bread.

The bread was so hard. I couldn't eat it. I scrapped everything out and ate my stuff out of a bowl.

If you're looking for authentic gabagool, these folks have all 3 kinds! With killer meats, these Italian sandwiches are done right. The veggies are perfect, the sandwiches constructed with love. Don't bother with the Small, go for the special Primo roll and enjoy it as it was meant to be. I loved my Mild Sharp Italian, and hubby said his Italian had a nice spice that lingered. I told him it was the Spicy Gabagool! The macaroni salad was twangy and saucy. I am pretty snobby about macaroni salad and I would eat this again. I got the dirt pudding for dessert but we haven't tried it yet. The sandwiches are where it's at, and I want another delivery right now! I have my eye on the Philly with broccoli rabe. Yum!

Friday night and in town visiting with family. We were debating going somewhere to eat but decided to stay home and order in. We decided to try PrimoHoagies and used Grubhub to place our order. Got a sharp Italian with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, oil and vinegar and got peppers and pickles on the side. The sandwich was just okay. I had to add extra vinegar and I put some oregano and pepper on it just to add some flavor. My first few bites without my added seasoning were pretty blah. I only ate half. I can tell they use decent ingredients but their sandwiches aren't for me. Maybe ordering and eating at the restaurant makes a difference? Not sure. They added some coupons to the bag but to be honest they probably won't be used.

Worst food I've ordered, this business is so slide of hand. 6" subs and "primo" subs. What they don't tell you is their slide of hand BS the "primo sub is 9" and $15.00 for NOTHING!!! This is the Philly All damn bread.. shrink-Flation at its finest. Remember $15 for this disaster.

Just bad. No kids menu and the small sub was $9, $60 for 2 adults and a kid...for lunch. Why?? They couldn't toast the cheese sandwich bc it wasn't a hot sandwich, the chip bags were lacking for sure, weird choices. For a first time, it was terrible and we will not be back, ever. Such a disappointment.

Super excited to have a new sub place in town. I love a good sub! I'm a sub girl through and through! We stopped for a late lunch on Saturday. We have never visited a Primo's before. We walked in and it is very small. Right away I noticed the huge menu at the counter with so many items to choose from. There was an employee standing at the register but she did not greet us or ask us if we needed help or have any suggestions. It would of been nice since we were new. But, I chose the Italian and it didn't disappoint. I was a bit surprised at the size. I ordered the small and it was small. Compared to other local sub shops it seemed smaller. I did like the thin sliced meat. The toppings were all very fresh. The bread was very good. But, I was hoping for the bread with the seeds that I saw pictures everywhere. Not sure if you have to request that? You purchase the chips and drink separately. I love how all the chips are Herr's. Those aren't easy to find down here in the South. There is only four small tables to eat inside. Something to keep in mind if your coming with a group or a large family. They do have online ordering and catering. I want to try the coleslaw and the pepper shooters next time!

The tartare was excellent! The oysters had a strange taste that I was not a fan of. However, I do want to mention my dirty martini was phenomenal!! For my entree, I ordered the 8oz filet mignon, medium-rare. As soon as the server put the plate in front of me, they whipped out a flashlight, shined it on my plate and asked me to cut into the middle of the steak to ensure it was cooked correctly. This bothered me for multiple reasons: 1.) for a restaurant of this caliber, I would expect the chef to know if my steak is cooked correctly and 2.) I like to cut into my steak at the end not the middle. It was cooked correctly but it was not as juicy/flavorful as I hoped it would be. The sides for our table were the most impressive part of my meal; perfect mashed potatoes and probably one of the best creamed spinaches I've ever had! Oddly enough, it was more crunchy than creamy but somehow it worked and tasted delicious. I've had both better and worse steakhouse experiences but at this price point, I expected just a tad bit better. I would still recommend checking this place out and deciding for yourself ;)

I recommend making a reservation. We did not but Ms. Myles graciously accommodated our table for 2. A few hours prior we checked and reservations were wide open, but by the time we got there, they were pretty booked. The staff is wonderful and the food is made with care. Simply delicious! We began with a cup of their clear broth that was light and flavorful and cleansed our palettes for the grilled meats to come. At the suggestion of Ms. Myles, we had the Crispy Pork for an appetizer. Nice and crisp pieces of pork whose fat was properly rendered back into the meat. A lot of places miss this important step. It was served with a luscious white sauce and lightly vinegared hot sauce. Then we went right into their specialty- Yakitori We had one of each of the following: Momo- chicken Thigh Chicken Tenderloin with Yuzu Honey Glaze Australian Wagyu Beef- they offer American Wagyu, and A5 Japanese Kobe as well Bacon Wrapped Crab- high quality Crab stick wrapped in bacon..this was a standout for me. So rich and full of Umami Ribeye We finished the meal off with a plate of Beef Yaki-Udon. The depth of flavor was incredible and again the Umami took center stage. Interesting fact: They have been at this location for 31 years opening first as an Italian restaurant! Myles has been in Charleston for 40 years and is an icon in the Food and Bev industry. She was most recently recognized by Congress for her impact on the Charleston food scene. We were greeted with a smile and left with a hug.
