    Philly

Came in for lunch mid day on a Saturday. First impressions were not great, the owners children occupied majority of the tables to include an infant in a crib between two tables. Seating was limited and the inside felt unkept. The options for donuts were not as advertised, they had maybe a dozen donuts left. The drink options were limited to refrigerated bottles which needed to be restocked. Once seated outside another one of the owners children was running her scooter in to wall beside our table completely unsupervised. We received our Philly cheese steaks which were actually really good as well as our donuts. I appreciate family owned businesses but I got the impression that the business would be more well kept if the owner was less distracted by her children who occupied majority of the restaurant. I would come here again, but only for a take out order.

I see the mobile food truck getting prepared on the mornings when I'm eating at the diner.

In hindsight, the only change I'd have inserted into this wonderful eating experience is to have gotten the full size as opposed to the compact. Two hours past normal dinner hours, all was quite on the Philly Cheese Steak front, but I knew at any moment this could change -- and it did. One hungry jolly fellow, than another, then a nice family of four -- my order just beat the rush. Mushrooms, grilled onions, sweet peppers -- it was sweet, it was savory, it was light on the palate, it dissipated in a slow release of flavor. It was a symphony in my mouth and I'm trying to avoid overdoing my description, but my cheesesteak was about the best darn eat out item I've had in a month of Sunday's. The staffers were so sweet and fun to engage with, we joked a bit, they fit what Phillys is -- they were it and it was them, with out a doubt, a total five star-er..!

Zoom in a little to see how big they are plus. How much sweet drizzleing...yes, drizzleing is on them

1st time there. Had a few surprises. Not much of an eat in place, although there was a couple tables (with a couple really cool pictures ) SO, besides bea great place to get a Philly, you can also get doughnuts, and some truly amazing looking cinnamon buns!

Food was fast and hot. We were the only ones here on a Saturday for lunch. I was glad to find it was not salty as I find most cheese steaks to salty for my taste. My husbands sandwich had pepper flakes which was odd to me since it also had a bit of green and red pepper. To me this is a take out option. The decor is hodge podge of old and worn out tables, chairs, basically everything. It could use a good cleaning and fresh paint. The service was fast polite we would eat here again. Update: went in again. The service was ummm not bad exactly but not good either. We asked for a menu item and the lady said we couldn't have it because she didn't know how to ring it up. Same lady never changed her glove (as in 1) even after going to back room, walk-in and restocking items and eating something behind the counter. The food seemed more salty tonight and is currently sitting like cement in my stomach. (12/7)

The owner has a very chipper disposition.. Great customer Service and delicious food!

1/3 of the roll no meat, all 3 of my cheesesteaks looked this way

I ordered 2 cheese bombs. Was suppose to have cheese wiz and american cheese. I asked for fried onions and sweet peppers. No wiz, 1/3 of the roll missing meat on all 3 steak sandwiches. I called and they said that you get less meat when you order onions or peppers. And the girls working we're both getting loud and had an attitude. The ham and cheese hoagie has mustard on it and I only asked for mayo and pickles. What a disgrace, will never order again. $66 why a waste.

This one is a bit of a tough one to review. If I was basing it on the food alone, it's a solid 4 stars. The service was strange so I am inclined to rate it 3 stars but my cheesesteak was really good so if future experiences are better or at least consistent with good eats, I'll definitely bump up. My friend and I stopped by Philly's for dinner one evening, the Friday after Thanksgiving. To be perfectly honest, we were headed to Booyah Wings (really want to try that place!!) but as we soon realized, many spots were closed on Black Friday. We both ordered the 8 inch (forgive me if I'm wrong, I've been slack and should have written this review sooner!) but what was weird is I picked the combo with fries, and my friend ordered the combo with onion rings which cost more according to the counter menu. We were both charged the same thing but I'm not sure if I got overcharged or she got hooked up. Also, I really felt like they were ready for us to leave. Just the vibe I was getting. After we were done eating, we stayed chatting, mainly because another customer came in after us and was still there after we were done eating. Although we both felt that vibe, we didn't rush out but otherwise we would have! The cheesesteak I ordered had cheese, onions and mushrooms. It was meaty and delicious! Very tasty and I'd absolutely return for the food. The service was a bit unorganized, strange vibe, and nowhere near what I'd call professional but friendly enough. Go for the food! Not the ambiance.

Good cheesesteaks but take out the Philly part. Nothing like the north but other than hitting a food truck this is the next best thing.

We placed our order around 6:50 PM. The man running the truck (the only one working) even commented about how slow business was. Despite that, by 7:40 we still hadn't gotten our food though several people who ordered after us had already been served. When my boyfriend checked, the guy said there was still "one person ahead of us" and that he'd bring the food over when ready. Around 8:00 PM over an hour later he finally came out with two sandwiches. But instead of what we ordered (one Classic and one Chicken Bacon Ranch), he handed us two Classics. When my boyfriend asked if one of them was ours, he said yes, but then immediately walked over and gave one of the sandwiches to another couple waiting. It seemed clear that he had completely forgotten about our order and just tried to hand us someone else's food. At that point, we were left with just one correct sandwich after waiting more than an hour. He told us he'd fix it quickly, and about five minutes later brought out the Chicken Bacon Ranch we had originally ordered. Earlier, he had offered us a refund because of the long wait, but when we asked about it after getting the corrected order, he became defensive and irate. He told us things like: "If you were in a restaurant you'd wait 30 minutes," (we had waited over an hour). and "Why would I refund you, you seem to be enjoying that sandwich just fine," (while we were sharing one sandwich because we were starving). He also tried to guilt us by explaining that he pays for everything himself and even asked for "compensation" despite the fact I had already tipped him 20% when we first ordered. Instead of apologizing, he raised his voice across the bar, made us feel like we were the problem, and then walked away mid-conversation. As someone who works in food and beverage, I know mistakes happen but the way you handle them is what defines good service. This was the exact opposite: poor organization, extremely long wait, wrong order, broken promises of a refund, and an worker who treated us rudely instead of professionally.

Been meaning to stop in since I heard a few opened up in the area but this location is super out of the way to me. Had some time to burned today so I stopped in. I got the Italian which was a favorite of mine, and it did not disappoint. Overflowing with meats and cheeses and toppings! If anything it was too stuffed and hard to handle. Tasted fantastic and the sheer size made the price - around $15 for just the sandwich - feel like a decent value at the least. Service was friendly but it took a long time to get the sandwich. Inside is just a basic fast food setup, nothing fancy just a few tables. I'm glad to see Primo Hoagies here in the Charleston area, nice to have them as an option! J.Ja

Full disclosure, I have long lost Italian roots that stretch back to my childhood and "Goodfellas"…read moretype family who owned a butcher and sandwich shop in Connecticut. I say that because my affinity for cold grinders (hoagies, subs, torpedoes, etc) is legendary among family and restaurants across the nation as I've lived everywhere; most recently Austin TX. Back to the point, after Googling "sub shops near me" I've finally knocked PrimoHoagies off my list. My review is better than average, however please continue reading for my "professional" breakdown but note, I formed my review from one review and "hoagies" can be extremely subjective. Located in a safe part but lonely and isolated part of town PrimoHoagies has a small little store that doesn't really commit to having customers stay for lunch, rather it's meant for a pick up and leave. I'm not saying one can't stay for lunch but I found the facility's ambiance drab and lifedraining. Mainly because I worked at Subway many years ago and the interior reminds me of my horrible experiences. My own pettiness aside, it works for what's it's designed for, the pickup and leave mentality. I like the big screens with their menus and the many drink options however no fountain drinks seems like an odd choice. There are a lot of interesting chips to choose from as well as "home-made" sides. Lets start with said sides. I got the pasta salad and my two greatest fears were realized. First the pasta was overcooked thus bloated with too much cooking water. I despise huge mushy pasta. Next the remaining oil and vinegar liquid was enough to feed a small army. The flavor was ok but those first two points really brought down the experience. Next the potato salad was surprisingly decent. The potatoes had enough rigidity to them while it also offered an interesting sour after affect. I thought it was mustard but I'm still not sure. Still an above average effort. As for the stars of the show, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try the Abruzzi. I find this hoagie interesting as I've seen this type of sandwich many times before with a restaurant in Philly winning many awards with the ingredient combination. The bread is decent but after your teeth cut through the bread you can taste the nicely roasted pork immediately followed by the slightest bit of earthiness and heat from the broccoli rabe. Yes this is by far makes the sandwich which is followed by the experience from the provolone which gives it a certain funk and serious sharpness. This isn't my type of hoagie but it was a good item to try once. As for the star of my show, I ordered the mild Italian but I asked the young lady to substitute the prosciutto for ham. Don't get me wrong, I love prosciutto but I find it over powers grinders as it's too intense and salty for the rest of the sandwich. Well, the lady gave me a ham sub and I wasn't very happy to say the least. Therefore, my review for a HAM sandwich (sorry I'm still angry) was it was ok. The ingredients were fresh and the bread had a nice crunch on the outside while being moist on the inside with a little chew. They did give a lot of protein so they' don't skimp on the meat. However when paying 14 for 9" of sub, that should be a given. In summary I rank PrimoHoagies middle of the road with slightly elevated prices. They do offer some hoagie combinations and ingredients a customer can't find at other restaurants which is refreshing however I suggest being very clear with your order, then checking it. As for the sides, I would say skip them unless you'd like the potato salad or the mac salad which I didn't try. The people are extremely nice here, but not very attentive at least for my one crucial request. I don't see myself coming back however Primohoagies will work over some of the most well known and very much older chains (you know of whom I speak).

The staff learns your drink orders fairly quick and some of the regulars become accustom to you and build a pretty good relationship with you within the bar. The food is good and fresh and the drinks are not bad either, however where things get off track are those regulars who basically come off as owners of their area of the bar. My wife recently during one visit spoke with me about feeling a bit uncomfortable with one specific male individual who apparently kept embracing her in a manner she was not ok with. I spoke with the individual on our next visit at the bar and he again hugged her in a manner that neither one of us approved of. When I confronted the person he completely dismissed both our concerns and basically stated that how he was raised it was ok to greet a woman in that manner. I got angry and explained that this is a wife and not some bar chick and that we did not care for the optics of what he was doing. Long story short, one would believe that at a bar where a murder occured only 2 weeks ago people would be more receptive to toning down the riff raft and just enjoying themselves. Well my wife said she wanted to leave and we left after only one drink and I avoided having a physical confrontation with a person that is tone deaf. My only thing to add to this is that when a man tells you to not invade his wife's space you should listen because at this bar people have learned there may not be a next time.

Having worked in the restaurant industry, a Sysco logo is a big red flag. They do food service for hospitals, colleges, senior living and assisted living homes, and basic restaurants. I visit family in the area regularly and had a bit of a break so wanted a sandwich for lunch. I started to go to the new Greek place but didn't want to get caught in traffic so went to the Charleston Sports Pub instead. The menu had a selection of wings, burgers, nachos, salads, tacos, a few sandwiches and chicken fingers. There were some shrimp dishes but I know the shrimp is probably frozen from Sysco. I ordered a wedge salad and a chicken sandwich special to go. The sandwich came with fried, which I didn't eat. Everything tasted fine. Nothing special but it met the requirements of food. I was starving since I hadn't watered and it was late afternoon. Don't think I'd come back here again except maybe to have drinks.
