Walked into this place and stood at the register for about 10 minutes until the group of employees even noticed I was ready to take an order while they were working behind the register. After I stated I'm ready to order, the manager said "we just assumed you were trying to figure out your order". While I was taking my order, the manager was taking bagel inventory and when I was speaking she was shaking her head with her back toward the cash register. Then we placed our order and in the middle of placing our order the manager said to us that the dining facility is closed and you will have to get your order to go. While the manager told me this information there were people still seated in the dining room eating. I mentioned such things to the manager and she said that she would be asking the customers to leave as they were closing in a couple of minutes. Please note. My kitchen is under remodel so I came to Panera specifically to sit down to eat dinner. Anyways, we placed our order. Waited about 20 minutes and the customer service associate forgot to get our bagels ready for us as we order these to go. While also waiting the customer service associate cashier forgot to give us our cups to enable us to create a drink at the soda fountain. While waiting for our order the employees were standing around on their phones while other employees were slowly preparing food. Employees also did not have their hair in buns and a few of the girls had hair to their waist. Ew. So then the cook manager stated we could sit outside. So we sat outside to eat. When we finished eating we searched for a trash bin to put our food in. No trash bin was available for outdoor seating. So we placed our trash in front of the door way assuming an employees would come outside eventually that he or she would eventually see our trash. After leaving our trash an employee came outside and tried to come up to us to say something but we kept walking away. Don't go to this location. It is very dirty, unorganized. I'm done coming to this location. They're sloppy with their to-go orders where it looks like someone put it all together from a far away distance for sport, instead of taking their time. The coffees that are special made, i.e. Caramel or Mocha latte, tastes like hot water with a splash of coffee and flavoring. They've almost perfected the recipe for possibly a hot La Croix. My favorite was one time I ordered the mac 'n cheese with avocado and bacon, and all I literally got was a slice of avocado on top of it all. So if you're wanting an actual Carmel latte, and a well-put together meal, go to either the Belleville or Fairview Heights location. You'll actually get your monies worth there. First I looooove bread co, Panera, whatever you wanna call it but this location is bar far one of the worse ones I've been to. The portions are so small compared to other stores that it seems like they are trying to make their supplies last for weeks. My half sandwich looked like a fourth of one and my Mac and cheese bbq only had the sauce and no meat. Plus most of the time they get my order wrong or ran out of something. So yesterday I leave downtown STL to meet a client at this STL Bread Co on the East Side. I get there a little early and realize that I worked through lunch.....it's 2:45, I'm starving and I'm 30 minutes early for the meeting. So I go to the counter and order the "Your pick two" soup sando combo" The only way I can properly explain this is to give you a blow by blow account for this conversation............. Matt: Can I get the "pick to combo with a French oni- Dmarco counter guy: Let me interrupt you .......do you have a "my panera card"? Matt: Uh, no Dmarco Counter guy:(look of disbelief) well lets get you set up with one of those first.. Matt: Uh no, lets just go ahead and put the order in Dmarco Counter guy: Do you not like free money? Matt:What are you talking about Dmarco: well saving $10 a month may not mean a lot to you, but it means a lot to me. Matt: are you for real? Wow. I had written off Panera Bread after too many awful encounters in various States featuring horrible service, poorly prepared food, grueling wait times, and filth. BUT it's Christmas Eve, and we're visiting family in St Louis...so we have a little family meet up at this location. I walk in with maybe a glimmer of hope that this place near where I held my first job (where the now corporate giant "Panera" started out as the humble St Louis Bread Co) would bring back the good in why this place was so special in the first place. WAHLAH! A magical Christmas moment! Yes, indeed, GREAT customer service, FANTASTIC food, CLEAN dining area, and once again..GREAT customer service. The employee that helped us was INFORMATIVE. She KNEW her stuff. She ARTICULATED the workings of the menu without having to pull teeth. I asked if she was the manager. She said no, that she just had learned the menu well by now. This is how it is supposed to be, people! She graciously offered us COMPLIMENTARY bagels because they had too many on hand and it being Christmas Eve. HOW PLEASANT! I wish I had her name to send praise her way. Indeed, though, I believe the manager did make his way out to greet my husband and son. Another young employee helped us out with a bakery purchase to take home and was quick, helpful, and cheerful. An error was made and he was super nice and easygoing about making it correct. I'm really encouraged by this crew and this experience. I hope the young lady who helped us at the register will find great success and that management might see the benefit of presenting her grander opportunities with this company I loved working for in its earliest days. I stopped at this location for lunch and my exprience was pretty good. I always pay attention to the atmosphere as it always has a warm and welcoming feeling...kinda reminds me of the college coffee houses. The service was fast and friendly - I received my food quickly. I have probably bought my last sandwich from any Panera locations. I'm all for clean eating but when you guys made that switch a couple years ago you ruined every sandwich that was on the menu......especially the Italian....somehow you made an awesome sandwich to not average ....but straight to disgusting. Even the new sandwiches are awful. Love the soups and salads but the sandwiches are just awful. Also after getting 3 bags of chips tonight 1 bag had 10 chips, another bag had 11, and the other bag had 13. Almost half of what use to be in there. It's a shame to see you guys slide down hill. Came here for breakfast with my wife hoping I would have a better experience than I had last time I came. No such luck. Ordered 2 coffees 2 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches and 2 pastries. Asked for a sleeve for my coffee cup and person didn't know what I was talking about. Finally got one. Gave me one plate with one pastry and had to ask for other pastry. Went to sit down and about one third of the tables that were vacant had leftover cups plates or crumbs on them. My bacon egg and cheese had no bacon on it. Ordered lunch for the team at work then I got called 30 mins after placing the order to be told that "there was a glitch in the system and my order just came thru". When I asked what time will my order be out for delivery I was told 12:15 which I was fine with. I got a text at 12:08 that my order is out for delivery so I headed down to meet the delivery guy to speed things up since I can literally see there building from where I work. My order got delivered at 12:40! It is 1.1 miles between the two locations, I called the cafe when I was asking where my delivery was and the manager was unable to talk to me. So frustrating! Will not be ordering delivery from there again, there are plenty more options to choose from in the area. read more

Very disappointed with the staff. A metal piece came off of the tea dispenser when I was filling my cup, so I took it to the counter. The girl had an attitude when she said "it just pops in" as if I was supposed to know that and fix it myself. Never before have I had the worst experience from this Panera in Shiloh Illinois. I ordered food at 12:28 pm today 8-24-18 and at 1:38 it said my food was delivered but nothing arrived. I called and spoke to a manager who told me that my food had been delivered and then she told me it was actually on its way out she handed it to one of her drivers. 25 minutes later I called and spoke to another manager and come to find out my order was never made and she wanted to know if I wanted them to make my food 2 1/2 hours later. Went there with my son after a deployment from overseas, spoke to the manager that the service was terrible and the food was messed up, he offered us a pastry? What the heck? A pastry ? Really? My sandwich had so much mustard you couldn't taste the meat- not to mention it was cold and was ordered hot. They were out of bread bowls and didn't mention that prior to ordering a bread bowl. All in all a good sandwich place. Their soup in a bread bowl is great if you're feeling a little under the weather. I recommend the broccoli cheese soup. Love their panini's. The chipotle chicken is especially good. My wife loves the cinnamon crunch bagels, bread sliced. I don't recommend the cold sandwiches as they seem to be half frozen. The service at this location could be a lot better and it would help if they asked what side you want with your sandwich instead of assuming so be sure to remember to tell them or you might get their choice. read more

Given my previous experiences with Bread Co., I like to keep my expectations low. It's fast food. Plain and simple. In the past 5-ish years, I have not frequented this place because they aren't really vegetarian-friendly. Since becoming pescetarian, I decided to give Bread Co. another shot (there was also a crazy storm rolling in and wanted to go somewhere close), so my husband and I agreed to have dinner here. They have this mouth-watering shrimp avocado sandwich that pairs perfectly with their corn chowder. It's over $10 if you do their pairing, but oh-my-goodness is it worth it. They do not skimp on the shrimp (look at me, I'm Dr. Seuss). I was very please with my meal choice and am far more inclined to return knowing this sandwich exists, although I'm fairly certain it is a seasonal addition. read more

I am extremely frustrated with this location. Every time I order with their rapid pick up, it's wrong. I usually go here specifically for their breadbowl soups. I've felt under the weather tonight and specifically chose SLBC to feel better. Imagine my frustration when I drive home and find that there is no breadbowl in my order... even though I paid for it. The food at Bread Co. is always good so that's why I gave them a 2. However every single time I order from them they mess my order up in some way. If I order a sandwich they give me it with no lettuce or tomato. If I order a customized salad they give me a regular salad and ignore all of my notifications. What's the point of having managers if they don't make their employees learn from their mistakes. I used to work at a Bread Co. in VA so i know they have to look at the orders off a screen and then make them following the list. With that being said (just a tip for the managers that work there) tell your employees its more important to get the order right than to take forever AND get the order wrong!!! read more

Ally didn't offer what side I wanted and assumed I wanted chips. I hate chips. And she didn't give us our drinks. I ordered a roasted turkey guacamole sandwich, assuming at least the meat and bread were warm. They were all cold. Like Thanksgiving turkey leftover cold. The first bite it hurt my teeth and I ended up throwing away more than half of my food. I hope you get it together bread co.
