Everyone behind the counter smiled at my father and I, which was so welcoming! The man that took our payment was also friendly. I ordered the turkey plate with baked beans and French fries. My father ordered the brisket, baked beans and asked for unsalted fries. He raved about his brisket being tender and the fries actually tasting like potato. We absolutely dislike salt so we appreciated the unsalted fries. I don't normally order baked beans but didn't want any other sides listed on the menu -- beans did not disappoint! So flavorful and not overly sweet. Super yum! I agree the fries are very good. And the turkey, so tender. I think the only thing is that I am not used to eating room temperature meat. The first bite was warm and then the rest of the turkey was not, losing a little flavor. But honestly, the BBQ sauces are excellent & still worth it. :) I would definitely recommend the root beer! Much better this time! So glad I didn't see my other review before stopping. I had the Carolina sandwich which was a perfect combination of pulled pork, slaw, and Carolina BBQ sauce. A won't be back experience. I knew i was in trouble when brisket and pulled pork were slopped down directly on a piece of brown paper covering a large tray. Paper plates, anybody? The service was great and friendly but the food wasn't great, unfortunately. My partner and I both got brisket that had no flavor and was over-tenderized in a bad way. I don't even know how to explain how bad the brisket was though. It was just mush. The scalloped potatoes had been sitting for a while I guess by the time we got there (6:30pm on a Friday) because they fell apart trying to eat them with a fork and we ended up making mashed potatoes out of them in the end and ate them with spoons. The fries were basic. The mac and cheese was also nothing special. I really dislike giving low reviews at places, but $50 for the meal we got just wasn't it. I do love me some sugarfire. And the version found on Greenmount Road off of I 64 is quite excellent. There are some big league barbecue places in the area, including the famous beast craft, long claimed as the best in the St. Louis area. And that may be true. But sugar fire is nothing to sneeze at! I was disappointed. The devil egg potatoe salad was iffy. The skin from the potatoes are still in the salad which was odd with devil eggs mixed it. Odd combo but it wasn't bad. Takes some getting used to. The ribs were "OKAY" but nowhere near mind blowing. The brisket was decent but I've had better. This was a difficult review somewhere between a 3.5 and 4. I will go with the 4 as the service put it there. Dropped in out of town, was staying at the TownePlace suites. The service was super fast and friendly. Ordered the big muddy sandwich with the hash brown casserole. The sandwich was a brisket, jalapeño sausage sandwich with lettuce and tomato. Tasty sandwich overall, minor critique is that brisket was not quite a juicy as it could have been. It was not dry and sliced correctly though. The sausage was not very spicy and could have used a little kick. I really enjoyed the hashbrown casserole. Good flavors and great texture. Good place to drop in for a quick lunch. read more

Simply the best BBQ I've ever had. I ithnk nearly all BBQ places brag about their brisket, most do it poorly. Over cooked or over smoked, dried out so they try and hide it with lots of sauce and chopping it up so you can eat it. Not here, the brisket needed no sauce, not chopping, no dipping into au ju to make it edible. They show you the meat like a nice carving station, I suppose it gets you to order more than you intended when you can see how good it all looks. Ordering is sort of like a cafeteria, you get in line, grab a tray, wait your turn while reading giant menu boards, Its decorated a lot like many BBQ joints, casual and country themes. The meats are behind a glass panel and you order what you want and watch them carve it. All the typical sides. My wife got the brisket, I had the burger which was really good too. On the drinks station they have old fashioned flavors from gooney years. They have good looking deserts and floats but its really all about the meat. And these guys know how to do it right. We also liked the shake. The bad: sides - Every. Single. Side. Side dishes were not to temp, all followed the same basic flavor profile (there's life beyong red pepper and cheese) - they were overcooked & ended up mushy. They were extremely large tho, so if you are feeling up to buffet quality & quantity, maybe it will work for you. Basically, if it wasn't something that they had to make fresh, it wasn't edible. I had a taste for BBQ and have seen Sugarfire BBQ locations in St Louis, so when this location opened in O Fallon Illinois I decided to try it. I visited Sugarfire during Illinois band on indoor dining during the pandemic, so I had to take my order to-go. I ordered quite a few items to get a taste of the broad menu, I ordered ribs, brisket, sausage, and for sides I ordered beans, coleslaw, and a potato hash with rib meat (I can't remember the exact name). The meats were all delicious and tender, but the brisket was definitely the star of my order. The sides were good, except the coleslaw was lacking flavor. This place is a great place for some BBQ. I got the Meat Daddy and holy crap I consumed over 150 grams of protein. It was great because it came with jalapeños sausage, brisket, ribs, smoked turkey, pulled pork, and 2 sides. Basically it comes with everything in the restaurant. The atmosphere is pretty cool in this place. You get a tray of BBQ and it gives a true pit BBQ feel. The drinks are from a local soda company so it's pretty nice to give local business a shot. Awful experience! First time trying here and wish service was better. We placed an online order from pick up at 12:30pm on Father's Day that wasn't ready until 2PM. BBQ is made ahead of time. Not sure why it was would take an hour and half past pick up time as we had a simple order of just pounds of meat and sides. When we arrived at Sugarfire my husband stood in line (as I waited in the car with four kids) for thirty minutes until he got to the front of the line. Waited another hour for the food to arrive. During this time I had to drive the kids in the car and drop them off and then come back and get my husband when we realized it was going to to take so long. We left the store with our carry out just before 2pm with food that should have been ready at 12:30pm. The problem here was expectations. I would not have had a problem had we ordered and they said it would not be ready until 2 PM. I probably wouldn't have a problem had I had to wait even just thirty minutes but an hour and a half was unacceptable. The online orders should have been turned off or given updated times if they couldn't keep up, management should have called more staff in or we should have gotten a phone call saying our order would be ready later than expected. Just slapped the meat on this huge tray with a piece of brown paper.... I really don't like that. The sweet potato fries were ice cold and my brother said his brisket was OK but he's had way better. For our first trip to Sugarfire, I had the Big Muddy and my wife went with the pulled pork sandwich. Both were excellent! Big Muddy: This is one of their signature sandwiches. It's a couple slices of beef brisket with a cheddar jalapeño bratwurst, pickles, lettuce, barbecue sauce and horseradish. It sounds spicy, but it's actually pretty mild. Highly recommend!! The brisket is the all star, but the brat and lettuce add some extra crunch. Pulled Pork: Their Pork is tender and well seasoned. Definitely no slouch with this tried and true BBQ favorite. For sides we had fries and the macaroni salad. But, the true star of the side show is the cornbread. OMG! It's the sweetest most delicious cornbread I've ever had. In the drinks dept, they have a good selection of canned beer. Plus, their soda fountain has all Excel products. It's a small soda bottler from Breese, IL. Their stuff is awesome.
