    Gyro wrap

We stopped in to try something new, and this place is a hidden gem!!! I had the gyro- which was absolutely delicious. Like, "ok, I'm stuffed... but just one more bite" (over and over). Everything was so fresh and flavorful. I could eat the garlic pita bread every day. My husband got the chicken shawarma, which was a bit on the spicy side for him (beware if you are sensitive to heat), but it was still very tasty! The inside is small and has limited seating, but they were clearly doing a hopping carryout business! The owner was friendly as well, and we will most definitely be back.

What a fantastic find!!! The food was amazing and the portion sizes are huge! We tried a variety of items on the menu including the fried salmon cajun pasta. It's had the perfect amount of spice! And the peach cobbler egg rolls made for a delicious sweet treat to end our meal. Service was great. Limited seating. Most of the customers who came in while we were there grabbed to go orders. It was an all around excellent experience and we'll definitely return to try something new off the menu!

Catfish and shrimp and grits. My half eaten egg roll:).

There is almost always a wait but tonight we got seated pretty quick. The menu has quite a bit to choose from and unfortunately I feel like the prices have gone up and the quantity doesn't match what you are paying for. I ordered the fried shrimp. I asked for fries instead of the rice & beans. For $17.50 I'm expecting 8-10 shrimp...I got 5. They gave me the rice & beans and when they brought out the missing fries, they were stone cold. I was informed that since I didn't get the fries originally there, would be no substitution charge and that the rice & beans were on the house. My husband ordered the jambalaya entree that came with cornbread and a salad. Cornbread was a sliver but it appears he had the best meal of the night. Our friends ordered the chicken sandwich and it came with stone cold fries. The other ordered a burger that came without the cheese he requested (then was charged for asking for it) and stone cold fries. All fries were discarded and fresh ones brought out after awhile. 1 out of the 4 meals ordered was the only thing that turned out right. I kinda expected an apology or something for all the issues with our meals but nothing. The company we had was great. The dining experience was a let down.

I've passed this place up on occasion driving to mt Vernon. Always wanted to check it out. Glad we did. They have a gravel based parking. They have outside seating under a roof. Once you walk inside it's like you're in a wooded swamp like area. It was packed a bit so couldn't take many inside photos. The food is Cajun based. so you want some gator or catfish bites. They are one of the places to go to in Clinton County. I tried their grilled chicken sandwich with cheese. A side of Cajun fries( not Spicy- husband thought they may season with ole bay) we shared fried pickles and fried okra- we were almost full off of those alone. Large portions for appetizers! even their ranch dressing they brought out to dip the pickles in seems homemade. staff was amazing and attentive. We sat at the bar to eat and all of the ladies were wonderful! they also have a bar outside. Which was perfect as we were going to watch the bands. Overall we had a great time there!

I've worked in food for 40 years and I know what FRESH slaw looks like. The server said it was made fresh that day like every Friday. I told her I didn't believe that and to take it away as we were not eating that. Last week everything was excellent. Big difference from one week to the next. I don't think we'll be going there next Friday. Consistency is a must when you're serving food. She did not offer a replacement of any kind and our bill DID NOT reflect a discount either, disappointing. The customer is always right, remember that!

Since there were no clams, I went for the Catfish Basket. The Catfish Basket had multiple catfish fritters, steak fries and two hush puppies. The steak fries were cut fat and thick and I liked the seasoning. For me, they could have been crispier. The Hush Puppies were good, but I was disappointed when I saw a box of Classic Hush Puppies being delivered by their supplier. Homemade Hush Puppies are so much more flavorful. They've been promoting, Barq's Creme Soda on FB and Creme Soda was a favorite when I was growing up, so I couldn't resit ordering one. It was cool, refreshing and brought back flashes of memories. Oh, it was also a great accompaniment beverage to my Lent dinner. Customer Service is good, because chances are you will be waited on by one of the owners. They are true hands on owners and big supporters of the Alton community.
