My salad had soil in it & croutons were stale. :( I got soup which was good though, but when I asked to order a small side salad, I got a full salad (with soil in it) with an extra side. read more

This Panera was very busy, the staff was friendly and very helpful. We had 5 in our party and the food didnt take very long at all to prepare. All the items in our order were done right, even the custom sandwich with no onions or mustard requested. I had the steak and arugula sandwich with tomato soup. Very delicious, fresh and tasty. The choices of teas and lemonades were plentiful. I had the blood orange lemonade, which was not too sweet, it tasted fruity. My wife had the chicken avocado club sandwich and chicken noodle soup. She said it was very good, even though the items in the sandwich were sliced uneven, which made the sandwich a little lumpy to hold. The soup was good as ever. I have been to this location before and have had nothing but great food and great service. We will be back. read more

Today I came in and was helped by Emily who was very kind and accommodating! After that, I was assisted by Linda who helped me by recommending some of her favorite pastries (all of which were amazing). Such good service by such a friendly staff! read more

This is my first time eating Panera outside of Chicago and I gotta say I'm disappointed. I never write reviews but I had to come on here and say that whoever made my green passion smoothie needs to be retrained. I used to work at Panera and I know what goes in them and when I got mine it was too light in color and watery asf, for a $5 I expect consistency no matter what location I go to. I had to pop it in the freezer prior to consuming cause if I wanted juice I would've just ordered that. Also y'all should retrain your dispatch person to read the receipts on all deliveries because I asked for butter and didn't get any. And your green goddess dressing runs like water. read more

Are they under new management? This place is going downhill! The last few visits have been ridiculous. Everyone is moving in slow motion. I've been waiting 22 minutes for soup and salad! read more

Very good service and amazing food and dessert I would recommend to eat here for lunch and the best thing to have is chipotle chicken avacado melt sandwich read more

I went there on Thursday around noon and the place was up for grabs. Way over staffed with having employees making food. Took someone 5 mins to take our order becuase she was making a smoothie. I then went to find the only booth left and I had to wipe it off myself. The service was so slow. This place used to be good but something happened and it fell apart. read more

I decided to stop at this Panera, as I haven't been here for awhile. I ordered their pick 2, which included a small cup of French Onion soup (Small is the operative word there) and Mac & Cheese with bbq chicken, along with a small soda (am I the only one who can't stand the new formula of Diet Pepsi?) $13 later (that's not a typo) and I sit down and dig in to my soup and bread. Yummy, just not a very large portion. Then it was time for the Mac and cheese. Why is it that fast food restaurants can't properly reheat their prepared food? The Mac and cheese was warm (not hot) and the few shreds of bbq chicken were cold (not even warm). I would suggest you bypass this Panera. There are better fast food options in the area where your food will be served hot and your wallet will be happier. **note: Manager Kim stopped at my table and listened to my criticism. She wanted to make it right and offered a voucher for my next visit along with a pastry. I have changed my rating from 3 stars to 4 stars, since it appears this was a one-off mistake and the manager truly wanted to make it right** read more

Received wrong order at takeout. I don't get how a order can be wrong. I mean, occasionally yes, but it has so frquently at other restaurants that I am going to have employees show me my orders from now on. Panera can also not tell me the salad and soup size I get if I eat in, is the same size for takeout. I swear my salad was the 1/2 salad size for almost $10? Give me a break. As I was waiting, three people returned for various orders being incorrect. Yikes! ( it should of hit me right then and there....check your order!). I see many Yelp reviews blasting Panera for wrong orders, so something is going on in structure and/or Management. read more

I've been going to this Panera since it opened years ago. It was always a great place to grab lunch. In the last few months though I've really been disappointed in the food and the cleanliness of this location. Ever since Panera was required to list the calories on their menu it seems the portion size has gone down (maybe so it doesn't seem like a ton of calories?? It's bread!! We are well aware that it's high in calories and carbs). What has gone up though is the prices. The sandwiches have gotten so small over the years and something that size is not worth $10. I know this is not just this location where the prices have been raised but it's an issue that all Paneras need to address. Second is the kitchen staff. The employees taking the orders are fine. The kitchen, however, is just terrible now. No one seems like they know what they are doing anymore. I was there yesterday and ordered white cheddar on my sandwich and I got Swiss instead (an obvious difference)...the soup was not that hot, just warm. Even the bread seems drier that it's ever been. I used to stop in for iced coffee cause I loved theirs over any place near there and they stopped serving that too. The fact that you can see into the kitchen when they are making your sandwiches should prompt them to keep it as clean as possible. It is always messy and unorganized just like the beverage station is. And speaking of cleanliness...man Panera, you are dropping the ball here. Staff used to constantly clean the tables. Now I grab an extra stack of napkins cause I know I'm going to have to wipe down my table. I just don't understand why in a location that is as busy as this one why they don't have someone constantly cleaning tables. I don't know if I will return to Panera for a long time. There are many more places around schererville that are a lot better than this now and they have better portions for the price. Plus I won't have to worry about sitting in someone else's crumbs. read more

Ordered online. This is the closest Panera Bread to me (about 30-45 minute drive) I had my order set to be ready by 1:00. I got there by 1:05 and my food still was not out. After waiting 10 minutes, i finally got my salad to realize how little dressing I have. read more

Panera Bread - I am sure this is not enough dressing for the full chicken poppyseed salad I ordered. - Sandwiches Near Me - Schererville, Indiana

Consistently the worst Panera Bread I have been to. I live a couple miles away. I bypass it daily in favor of the Munster location or Merrillville if needed. This location typically does not have the soufflés, the coffee bar is poorly maintained, customer service is mediocre at best. I keep going back just hoping it will improve. Today is yet another great example, only one soufflé available at 10:15. No more being made. Coffee bar is out of lids. Ordered a sandwich with over easy eggs and it was served over HARD read more

My family and I often eat at the Panera in Merrillville. A few times we've tried this one instead and every time they get at least half the order wrong or things are missing. The last time we were here everything was wrong except our drinks. We won't be ordering from this location again. read more

This is chic food, plain and simple. And no, there's no accent mark on that. I mean that women flock to this place like they haven't eaten in a year and a half. There's something about the combination of baked goods, jazz and the words "focaccia bread" that drives women wild. And if they see soup in a bread bowl...look out!! The food is pretty decent here, but it's expensive for what you actually get. Their baked goods are nicely done, but I haven't had one that really stands out. The employees are friendly and the free water is cold. I wouldn't make it a destination, but it works if you're in the area. read more

Great place to enjoy a continental breakfast or a good lunch. So many bagels to choose from. I always stop to get a box for special occasions. Their pastries are really good as well. Today, my wife and I stopped for lunch. I had a half soup and half sandwich. My wife had the Chicken Avocado Salad. This was really good. Their other sandwiches are very delicious. I really enjoy coming here to grab something to eat or grabbing a cup of coffee and talking with friends or family. Enjoy! #SeñorFood read more

Clean, friendly staff and decent food. Sometimes service can be off a bit in the morning, but otherwise usually pretty good

My wife and I stopped into McAlister's Schererville, Indiana to get a sandwich. The wait staff at the counter was very courteous and patient while we made our decision. Our drinks were handed to us in under a minute. We made our way to the tables and observed the dining area was very clean. With in five minutes in sitting down we had our meal in front of us. My wife ordered the club sandwich and I ordered the New Yorker both looked very delicious and tasted even better! This place is an exceptional restaurant and we highly recommend it! read more

Good food, a bit pricy. Service varies time to time.

Not a big fan at all. Soups are salty. Sandwiches are way over priced. Bagels are ok.

Very annoyed tonight. I travel often and can usually count on panera for consistency. This was very disappointing. I went through the drive thru and didn't receive a receipt. I asked 3 times to get my soup with a bread bowl and still didn't get it even though I paid the premium. It was very rushed and a terrible experience. read more

Did the pick up order thing. There's this weird looking wall where you grab your food and mine wasn't up there at the pick up time they had me choose. Which is fine things happen. Finally found someone and he went right in back in grabbed my food. I was waiting for 15 minutes. The guy who helped me was really nice but whoever is in charge of controlling pick up orders is annoying. read more

I don't know why so many people give this place 5 stars. The schererville location is horrible. It is never clean whether it's in the dining area or behind the counters. They are the only location that won't mix your salad and just throws the dressing in a cup for you...even if it's not busy. Forget about going in the evening for pastries because they don't have any after the lunch hour rush. Staff has an attitude when you make them actually work and not cut corners. Oh and you barely get any ingredients in your salad compared to portillos. I'll spend my money elsewhere. read more

Panera is a unique concept and has the potential to distinguish from other business . However is obvious that quality has declined and I don't see how they will survive in the future . I'm giving 1 start because there is no choice to give none . Going to the scherrilville location over Indianapolis boulevard is painful. Customer service does not exist .i don't know why but staff has attitude Do they get any inspection from the franchise ? read more

Menu is misleading and doesn't include all of the condiments. My most recent example here, I ordered a steak and cheddar sandwich. It should have been called the Steak, Cheddar, and 2 quarts of horseradish sandwich. It was, in the simplest terms, gross. read more

I have been here twice and each time the food has been excellent! So far the item I enjoyed most was their boccoli and cheese soup served in a sourdough bread bowl that my Mom and I shared together. The manager was a substitute from a different restaurant and they had us chase them for our drinks and the manger didn't do anything to help us also the service was rude and I wouldn't recommend this Specific and the other Panera's I can't complain but the overall experience is that the place is very untidy with rude employees read more

This is a welcome addition to NW Indiana. There are not all that many places for quick, healty food at reasonable prices. I love the fact that they have lots of choices of soups, and the sandwiches are the main event. Good caesar salads. They have wifi, a nice clean place to eat, and pleasant help. Give it a try if you are tired of the same old stuff. read more

We enjoy this pan era staff is always friendly and accomodating.

Despite the reviews below, I was craving Panera and decided to give this location a chance due to close proximity to work. I don't think I will be back. One cashier was rude; turning her back on me without any acknowledgement to prepare another customer's order while another cashier took another customer that came in after me. At this point, I was already waiting 10 minutes without any acknowledgement from staff. Once I was finally able to order, the frontega chicken panini was okay; it didn't taste as fresh as other locations and the side bread was the smallest portion I've had at any Panera. Meanwhile during my meal, I overheard staff yelling at each other in the kitchen. Very pleasant experience... read more

Luv Panera Bread... they have good food for lunch and breakfast. There coffee is good. I like the selection of baked goods and bagels are one of the best in the area. They are a tad bit pricy and the schererville location parking lot is tiny. But that is honestly the worst thing i have to say about them. Always had friendly and efficient service. Gets a little crowded for lunch, but i take a crowd as a good sign read more

Panera is a great place to get a meal or just a quick snack. Their food is fresh and the selection is great. We meet there for book club and we always are able to get a table large enough and we never feel rushed to leave. I wish there were more places like Panera Bread. It's one of the "fast" food places that you don't actually feel guilty eating at after word. I really like Panera because of their food. It is a healthy alternative to those greasy contraptions they call hamburgers. However, you better like carbs. When I go there I eat I get the combo, for one price you get any two: a half sandwich, bowl of soap, or a salad. I personally go with the Caesar salad ans the chicken noodle in a bread bowl. There are many different options and whatever you choose is bound to be delicious. The atmosphere is comfortable and Panera is the type of place you should take your laptop to study (there's free wifi), but it also feels like a restaurant. There are padded booths and real tables and real dishes that turn a regular fast food meal into an actually dining experience. It is however, on the pricey side, but totally worth it. They even have a deal where you can get any baked good for 99 cents, when you buy an entrée. If you feel like trying something new and are in a sort of healthy mood, try Panera Bread. read more

This Shererville location is horrible. I honestly do not know why I continue to visit them even if it is every blue moon. I swear every time I go there they get something wrong. Plus, the quality has definitely declined. Today since I was coming from my gym which is right across the street I decided to give them another try since I was craving for a salad. I ordered The Green Goddess Cobb Salad and I specifically asked for NO ONIONS. The drive through stated, "it doesn't come with onions." I found that strange but maybe something has changed. I get home and there are tons of pickled red onions on my salad. To make matters worse you can tell that they watered down the dressing because it was literally the consistency of water and it is not suppose to be. This time i had enough so I called the manager to complain. Of course they offered you a voucher but this is ridiculous. Somebody definitely needs to come into this location and get it together fast. I sure wish they would build a corner bakery here in Indiana. They would shut Panera bread down! read more

Sometimes when I'm back home and need a place to sit and use wifi, this is the place to do it.
