This Panera was very busy, the staff was friendly and very helpful. We had 5 in our party and the food didnt take very long at all to prepare. All the items in our order were done right, even the custom sandwich with no onions or mustard requested. I had the steak and arugula sandwich with tomato soup. Very delicious, fresh and tasty. The choices of teas and lemonades were plentiful. I had the blood orange lemonade, which was not too sweet, it tasted fruity. My wife had the chicken avocado club sandwich and chicken noodle soup. She said it was very good, even though the items in the sandwich were sliced uneven, which made the sandwich a little lumpy to hold. The soup was good as ever. Yesterday, I ordered a BLT, light mayonnaise, and avocado on an Asiago bagel. The sandwich had only 4 pieces of bacon on it. To make matters worse, they spread the sandwich across on 2 bagels. Two extremely thin slices of bacon on each bagel. I put everything on one bagel so I could taste meat and tossed the rest. My bread sandwich with 4 tiny slices of bacon cost $13.49. Yep. The sip club is a great deal. Most of Paneras food is overpriced for what you get. They raised prices this week. The service is inconsistent. They have some great employees and they have some that aren't; very good. Wednesday night I had a issue with a new cashier. I bought a Chocolate Chip cookie and gave the cashier a $10 bill. She gave me a penny back. I had to remind her that I gave her a $10 bill. It took her 5 minutes to give me my change back. I think she was new and she was not wearing a name tag. What is wrong with this Panera? Seriously. I have eaten at Panera's all over the country. THIS one must have some kind of significant food shortage because what they provide to customers is a joke. We already know that their sandwiches and salads are close to $10. Why are they only giving us $4 worth of food? We also know on a normal salad from Panera (in any other location), 2 salad dressings are NOT enough. Just look at what they gave me. In my order (online) I asked for extra onions because the last time I ordered food, the put three on my salad. THREE. Turs out this time they decided to give me a TINY amount of lettuce, THREE olives, an egg, some cheese, and the "extra" onions. What did I pay for? And the dressing. I get you don't want to fill the dressings to the brim but they're only half filled. Maybe that's to cover the 12 pieces of lettuce they gave me. Look. I can put my entire FIST inside of my salad bowl and there was plenty of room around it. I easily could have fit a squirrel in it and still put the lid back on. This was almost ten bucks. -- Soup They underfilled the soup as horribly as the salad dressings! -- Sandwich (Mediterranean Veggie) I did ask for no Tomatoes. I still should have peppers, onions, salt, pepper, feta, cucumbers, lettuce, hummus. This is what I got. Two onions on each half. Two pieces of "emerald greens" on each half. Two peppers on one of the halves. Some hummus but not much and some cucumbers. It's a $7.29 sandwich. I got $3 worth of ingredients, if that. I'll include THEIR picture of how it should look. This literally happens every time I go. It's unfortunate because it's an easy pick-up during the work day, especially when other coworkers place an order as a group. I should also mention if you put something in the "notes" field, it won't be honored. Good luck getting one more salad dressing or no pickle. I have never had this happen at any other location but this occurs literally every time I've ever gotten food at the Schererville branch. Average food with average prices. I don't believe the price you pay for it worth what you get. Recently my family and I went to Panera for breakfast. Their breakfast sandwiches have gotten a lot smaller. I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese on ciabatta but was not served on ciabatta bread. Definitely have always been a Panera fan and I love their Soufflés. The Spinach Bacon one is my go to for early breakfast or a light lunch always tasty and hits the spot. On the day I visited was around 1130 am Sunday the wait was around 4-5 min in the front to order. On this day I could not give it a higher star rating do to the eating dining room area was not as clean as it should be. I love two things at Panera. They are the only two things I will order from this place- they are that good. The cinnamon crunch bagels and their version of the tomato, basil, mozzarella salad. Both are equally delicious in their own right. That bagel is the best thing in the way of bagels I have ever put into my mouth. The crunchy stuff residing on top is freaking amazing. Who invented you cinnamon crunch Panera bagel? Can I hug them? The tomato, basil, mozzarella salad is one of my favorites in the world. Fresh mozzarella is a gift from the gods. Love it! The only reason I come to Panera Bread is because it has been my experience at other stores that they offer good, basic and tasty soup and sandwich options. I don't care about their coffees or teas or pastries. I just want a nice, light and good meal. If that's what brings you to Panera Bread, go to another one elsewhere. I've been twice and decided I'm not going back to this one again. My wife and I get there at 9 pm, the place has maybe 10 people in it .. and we are told they don't have soup X anymore that day. Ok, we're easy, we say, we'll substitute. No, they don't have soup Y either. What? Wife and I look at each other. So we request a THIRD soup Z. "Sorry sir," says the very apologetic Latina, "we are out of that too." I'm kind of amazed. A place that doesn't have 3 advertised soups and wouldn't go out of the way to make any more of it much less accommodate us by maybe an unasked for freebie or something? Just unbelievable. The first unpleasant experience was similar but the wait time was really only the issue when it was moderately busy. We're tired and hungry and didn't feel like hunting anywhere else. But this was so unreal. We ordered substitutes we didn't really want and then ended up waiting a good twenty minutes for them while the manager walked around us and said nothing. I guess she had other things to do. And then my "soup" was barely tepid. What is this place like when it's busy? Don't know but we won't be back to find out. I'm shocked.
