I usually won't pick to go eat at a Panera Bread unless there's no other better options around or I'm just really hungry. there's just a lot of other really good bakery options around the Bay Area which also makes baked goods, sandwiches, n soups. so we were trying to get lunch before a Super Bowl party on Sunday. we drove to Chick-Fil-A, but that plan bombed. they were closed. (too bad cuz I've never been before.) so we went to Panera which was located just 3 blocks away. parking was no problem cuz it's inside The Plant plaza which is huge. if u can't find parking there, then you've got issues. upon entering, I noticed there's a bunch of teenagers working on school stuff. (free wifi) they don't have a big menu so I knew what I wanted off the bat. I wanted to try one of their new healthy options I've seen in commercials. Garden Chicken Wonton Bowl : this is supposed to b an Asian option. it's filled with spinach n broccoli with maybe 5 wontons. it's not your authentic Chinese wontons so don't expect it. probably wouldn't ever order it again. the chicken filling inside was so mushy, not solid like regular wontons r. (I thought it was raw at first.) the soup was ok. tasted like tom yum. kinda tangy. Steak & White Cheddar Panini (half) : this was good but not great. the panini was too thick so the meat to bread ratio was a little off. Ha, okay I lied about the latter, but no really...Panera Bread is quite the healthy alternative to hamburgers and beef extracted french fries. I've come here on several occasions and the sandwiches and salads are pretty good. I can't really say that the sandwiches are made fresh because I've tried to customize the sandwiches before and they told me that their sandwiches come pre-made and that they could not make any changes. I was in the area for a work training and popped in here for a quick lunch. I haven't been to a Panera in a while and decided to try their mac and cheese since I hadn't tried it yet. It was good, but I rarely meet a mac and cheese that I don't like. I got it as one part of a "you pick two" and also got a side salad. Love coming to this place to study. Lots of tables, lots of outlets for laptops, and free internet (although its usually not that fast). All the workers are very nice and pleasant, and they're also helpful in taking plates or trash away for you. I must admit, I've never really eaten the food here so I can't really rate the actual food. But I usually get a pastry and a lemonade or iced green tea which are all very good! Plus, free refills on the lemonade and iced green tea- that's definitely a bonus. Finally, one time I was studying here, and one of the workers came around giving out free pastries! Free!! It's been a few months since I've been back, so I figured I'd give them another try. Called in our order & was told 20 minutes. I came 45 minutes later & upon check in was told that it's not ready & I would have to wait. Hmph. While waiting, I'm reviewing my receipt & notice they entered the wrong sides. Panera's food is meh. For portion and quality you can find better elsewhere. But for the space, this like one of the best study spots or meetups. There are few places I can think of that are as spacious and conducive for meetings as Panera. Starbucks is usually too busy. Other specialty coffee shops lack often in chairs and table space. Like other Paneras, there are lots of tables, and outlets depending where you sit. And if the music bothers you, just bring a pair of headphones. Love me some Panera Bread! This place is awesome. My first time at this location, I got a tuna sandwich. The lettuce was extremely fresh and green, so perfect that I enjoyed just looking at it. The tuna salad was flavorful and delicious. I got my order for take out and really appreciated the way they packed the food. There were actually mini soup bowl holders at he bottom of the bag to keep the soups in place and from spilling. Messier sandwiches were packed in a paper box; cleaner sandwiches were wrapped in paper. The side of bread for the soup and bag of chips were in their own bags, which made the carrying and transporting all the better. This Panera is always clean and there are always seats available, which is really appreciated! Lady said no , I said well I have my chili right here, ready to eat and after standing in that line to pay my chili will be cold and I won't want the cheese anymore. The lady looked at me and said well she can't ring me up.... So then I walked my self back to the line... And stood in the front, but to the side( not in anyone's way) a lady that looked like some sort of manager walked up to me and asked me what she could get me so I explained the story. I just think it's a comfortable place providing free wifi and a menu that is ohh so super delicious! But beware of lunch hours, it gets super crowded. Just okay. I appreciate places that have lighter or healthier options but for the price it's a disappointment. With that said, I'm use to the great bakeries in Santa Cruz where the sandwiches are over the top awesome with gourmet items and great sides for the same price that Panera is charging for lesser quality. In my opinion, the bread was a bit gummy in texture, the meat seemed to me a bit salty (disclaimer, I do a lot of my own cooking at home so I am super sensitive to salt levels now when I eat out) but on the bright side the drinks were nice. I had the lemonade and my husband liked the frozen black cherry drink. The staff was also friendly. I came to this location early in the morning and ordered to-go. I waited for a while and thought it was odd since those who ordered dine-in behind me were already getting their food. As I waited to have my named called, I noticed a to-go bag on their counter, but didn't think it was mine because 1) no one ever called my name, and 2) even though the staff saw me waiting for my food, they didn't bother telling me my order was ready. It wasn't until a woman who ordered 10 minutes after me immediately got her food made me realize that the bag that had been waiting on the counter was mine. I had been standing at the counter for a while and I was annoyed that the staff, who saw me waiting, didn't bother letting me know that my order was ready. I'm really not a sandwich person. There was a phase in my life where I ate way too many sandwiches because I was trying to diet. Thinking about eating at Subway still makes me cringe sometimes. Panera is definitely no Subway. For one thing, there is flavor! They offer a wide variety of interesting and different combination of flavors that are a little above the average sandwich shop. Their sandwiches may not be on the healthier side, but that's what the combo deal is for. You can pair your half a sandwich with a healthy salad or soup. I love their soups. My favorite is their broccoli and cheddar soup. Sometimes I just go there to have their soup and salad combo. They do offer pastries also, but I don't really care for those. I'm a big bakery freak. I think my standards for baked goods is just too high. The pastries taste like something you would get at a grocery store. But I try to avoid the sugary goods for the sake of my waistline. I think this is the best chain sandwich place out there. They're starting to pop up everywhere now. Come here next time you're looking for a good place for a lunch date with a friend. read more

Sadly this store does not have the fast ordering kiosk that many others have. So when me and my friend stopped with a long line ahead of us, it was disappointing kiosk were not an option. We waited in a long line for two drinks and there was only one person working the register. The other girls were helping pack food, and there were a few more waling around the empty seating area talking. SMH If there is a long line, jump on in to help if you can. Make sure to get your customers helped and on their way. We waited in line fore over 20 min and then waited even longer for our drinks.
