One of my pet peeves about living in SoCal is a cultural thing: you must know what I know, so I am under no obligation to make it clear to you. It's my hypothesis that this is why street signage is so awful & you often have no idea that you've arrived at your destination until you shoot past the unmarked entrance & see a sign that says, "Welcome to the Wrong Town". So, it's unsurpsising that Panera thinks YOU ought to KNOW what is in the Sandwich with the Flowery Name that Means Nothing at THEIR place of employment. And the staff is happy to help until someone gets on line behind you. "You can go on the TABLET, too." Well, I can, but wouldn't it be easier for me just to ask if there's any mustard in this sandwich? Besides, then I would be doing YOUR job & you'd owe ME money. So, you make your decision, you pay & then no one tells you where to go. So, you stand there, looking around & your sandwich doesn't appear. Oh, wait: there are people standing at what looks like a back-of-house area, over there. Food is coming out! Maybe it's YOUR food! But, no. Then you notice a screen that says a bunch of names but none of them is YOUR name. You talk to other customers, but they are from UberEats & this is SoCal so they wonder why you don't KNOW what to do. You look confused, hoping a staff member will show up, but there is no one to help. By this time, there's nothing for it but to INTERRUPT the chat session behind the counter that looks like it is a back-of-house station. Yeah, you get your sandwich here. But, you've killed enough time waiting in the wrong place, asking other customers who also didn't know, hoping for staff to show up & finally interrupting a staff gossip session to find out that your sandwich is -- coming right up. It seems like it took less time than it did because of all the activity you've experienced. Wait it comes with chips? Are there other options, you wonder. But, no, let's not try to make a change -- they couldn't manage it. And the sandwich was fine. Could have used a soda with it, but the soda and coffee was unavailable that day. And no one had offered to provide water. You could pay for a tea you don't like, but why do that? So, this was a frustrating, absurdly complicated way to get a somewhat overpriced, but acceptable, sandwich that came with things you didn't want but didn't know about & did not come with things you wanted because this RESTAURANT doesn't have soda or coffee that day. We apologize for the inconvenience. read more

Panera is a staple when it comes to good sandwiches and warm, filling soups, which is why I was so disappointed with their new Four Cheese Grilled Cheese. To put it plainly, Panera considers a grilled cheese to be two pieces of cheese toast, stacked together. When my sandwich came out, the cheeses hadn't melted together at all. The bread was sliced WAY too thick for the amount of cheese. This sandwich is not good. I thought this may have just been a fluke so I asked them to remake it. My second sandwich was exactly the same. It was really disappointing. On a positive note, this place has tons of parking, lots of power outlets if you've got some work to do, and lots of seating! I'll be back (because it's Panera! Duh!) but not for the grilled cheese. read more

What is not to love about Panera! I have been a fan for many years. When I moved to Pasadena I was a little sad that it wasn't too close to me but it is worth the drive. I always have the Asian chicken salad. It is amazing. The chicken is perfect, right amount of almonds and dressing. I have also had their broccoli and cheese soup which is pretty awesome as well. The workers here are always very nice. They take the food to your table and pick up your plates. Two reasons they do not get 5 stars. I came here again for a free dessert since I was a MyPanera member. I think because my boyfriend and I were wearing Dunder Mifflin shirts (reference to the TV show "The Office"), the server gave us two toffee nut cookies. In addition we had asked if they had soups and she said no. So we ended up ordering the turkey artichoke panini. Later on, she realized they actually had soups and gave us some on the house. What a sweetheart! I have never experienced such great and genuine service before! One thing though. I thought the Turkey Artichoke panini was going away from the menu (according to the website) but it was still there but labeled as a "new" item. That was confusing.. This was the second time I ordered it and the sandwich seemed smaller and less flavorful than the last time I tried it. I forgive them because we received great service from the cashier. It's been a while since I last came to Panera. So what better day to return than today? It's drizzling out, and I didn't want to feel cooped up at home. Why not head do Panera for a bowl of soup? Like iPhones, Panera has undergone incremental upgrades which has generally made it a better experience. Now, I can order at a kiosk and bypass the lines, and table service is definitely enhanced. But the most interesting thing of today's visit was the option of a broth bowl. This actually got me really interested. I mean, I'm kind of in the soup mood, sorta hungry but not ravenous, and I didn't want anything too greasy (so all cream-based soups are out). I picked the lentil quinoa broth bowl with baked chips. This was a very unique combination of lentil, quinoa, sun dried tomatoes, spinach, kale, and a perfectly cooked hard boiled egg, all nestled in an oversized bowl of tomatoey/ citrusy broth. PERFECT for today's weather. Look out soba houses, Panera is gunning for you! Hard-working and friendly staff. Beverage and soda sections are cleaned frequently. I like this place to finish my work for the day as this place is pretty quiet and not super cold like other restaurants. There are electric plugs almost everywhere near a side wall so I don't have to use an extension cord for my computer to be charged. In general, this place is clean and the space is ambient, especially after covid. Sometimes the internet is super slow and I suggest to switch in using a hotspot if needed. read more

The alertness, sense of urgency and overall customer service is very disappointing. There is no greeting when customers walk in. There is an issue with the steps of online ordering and actually having the order ready on time as the app status shows. It never fails when I have ordered soufflés online and show up and the order never started so the response is that "it will be ten more minutes" although the order shows complete per the app. I keep giving this location a chance but I am officially fed-up and will go to Arcadia where they always have it together and there are never any disappointments. The outside bread tasted crispy and warm which was really good. The only bummer is that they don't have any potatoes or anything else with it. :/ But I was very full with the meal with just that and the orange juice I was good. But I can see if you are a breakfast person and eat a bigger meal...this wouldn't be so filling for you. Came here with a friend to study and grab a little snack. We ended up getting the iced green tea, Asian Chicken Salad, and the French Onion Soup in a bread bowl. Overall, the entrees were pretty delicious. The salad was huge, but it didn't have enough dressing. Whereas the French Onion Soup bread bowl was the perfect size for soups; however, it was a little bit on the salty side. By far, my favorite item of the night was the iced green tea-- just because it was refreshing and it was sweetened to perfection. The environment was a peaceful, and there were plenty of seats to get your study on... or just to have a nice chat/lunch/dinner. On top of that, this place has free wi-fi! Mine was "supposed" to be the turkey sausage, egg, cheese, & spinach. First off, it was not turkey sausage, but sliced Turkey for lunch meat sandwiches. Josh is an exceptional manager of Panera's here in Pasadena. I ordered my food from a lovely cashier who gave me the biggest smile ever and was very warm to the patrons. After paying for my food, she kindly gave me a pager that would be used to notify when my food was ready. I went to sit down. Soon after, my food was ready as as my pager was beeping. Josh with a very gentle and kind smile asked, "Are you Gina?" I responded, "Yes", and he gave me my food. I went to my table, and I enjoyed my meal. Josh emerged in the dining area with very delicious samples of a new soup that Panera's is launching. He gave us a sample and invited us to share our opinion. I ate the soup. It was good. I shared my opinion with him about the soup. He was happy to hear. I am a teacher. He is one of those polite and respectful young people, that you meet and wonder if the work we do as educators lead our students to become responsible, empathetic and kind adults as Josh. I see why he is the manager! To me, he is a rock star! Bravo, Panera. You got it right with this one! read more

Came to visit Panera in Pasadena on a Sunday afternoon, since I haven't been dropping in to Panera City of Industry since last year. We were excited to order our usual chicken panini. We ended up ordering the half Chicken Frontega sandwich and cup of French onion soup, half a chipotle chicken sandwich, and a Chai tea latte. We were so disappointed at how much the price had gone up. Also, our usual menu items were no longer available and everything tasted like ass. Since the sandwiches were going to be nearly $10 for the full sandwich and we knew we wouldn't be able to each finish two full sized sandwiches, we opted for the You Pick Two option, a half sandwich, and just one drink. The sandwiches each came with a choice of bread, apple, or chips, we just went with bread since Panera bread is supposed to e good. Nope. Bread was awful, chai tea latte was way too sweet and tasted mostly of cinnamon and sugar. The sandwiches were atrocious- barely any over brined mushy chicken pieces and sloppily put together. Also, bread to sandwich filling ration was wayyy off. Yuck. The French onion soup was totally disgusting, as it was much too salty and the shredded cheese was casually thrown atop the soup and massive toasted piece of bread (still same bread as the sandwich and the standalone baguette that came with the meal). Mom and I are usually very good about not wasting food- we try to finish everything regardless of how shitty it tastes- but we just couldn't here. Accessibility: very easy to find. On a strip mall with plenty of parking. Front lot gets packed really quick, but there is extra parking in the back. Ambiance: 3/5 this is your regular chain counter service. You order with the cashiers and you get a number and food gets delivered to your table. I like using the self-order stations where you can just order on a tablet. Place is not impecable, but it is relatively clean. Noise level is good, I see a lot of people reading and studying at this location. Food: 3/5 i go here because it is convenient and close to my house. Their food does not seem very fresh considering this is mainly a salad place. I have ordered sandwiches and they are very skimpy with ingredients. I think their soups get delivered in frozen bags...their pastries are good. I like their muffins, scones and bagels. Service: 3/5 i usually self-order on the tablets. The food gets delivered promptly at times, but there have been occasions when I have waited for a long time and have to go look for my food at the kitchen. Also, they sure run out of certain breads a lot, so I can't get my order exactly the way I want it. One of the worst Panera ever!!!!! Remember the immortal quote from Joe Pesci, "they fuck you at the drive thru"? They apparently fuck you at the curb side pick up too!! And they fuck you hard!!!! It was not the first time they fucked up our order, in fact, this was the THIRD TIME IN A ROW they fucked it up. You would think that when the specific order is spelled out in the app, these geniuses would get them right, but no sirree, no such luck. Instead of 2 chicken wild rice (1baguette and 1 chips) and 1 chicken noodles (baguette); we got 2chicken noodles (2 baguettes) and 1 chicken wild rice (baguette). Yup, ZERO chips. We discovered it too late when we opened the bag at home, so I went straight back to them to straighten it out. All the promises of money back were lies, as they insisted I return every single item after I drove over 1/2 hour round trip back to their shitty fucking restaurant in order to get a refund. Lastly, don't bother asking for butter with your baguettes, no matter how many times you ask for it , you won't get it. I promised myself NEVER to go back to this shittiest of the shitty Panera. Haven't been to Panera in years...as I was waiting for my food I saw an elderly woman come in and ask the manager for a free meal because she couldn't afford food for the day with all of her medical care costs. The food isn't what it used to be, it isn't made authentically anymore and they just use American cheese (craft singles) for the grilled cheese. They had a featured new sandwich and couldn't make two of the sandwiches we ordered because they'd "didn't have the bread". Also the bathrooms are pretty gross and the walls are patched up. I stopped off at Panera this morning for coffee and my favorite breakfast sandwich. I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese on a plain BAGEL. It came out on Cibatta. I spoke to Carolyn who apologized, and took it back to remake it. Leila the manager checked in to see what was going on. She insisted that I ordered it wrong. When I showed her my receipt, she still insisted that I had made the mistake!! Great customer service, NOT! When I headed back to my table she laughed, and muttered how ridiculous this was. Have been to this Panera Bread location a few times and kinda wishing that it was closer to home. Definitely worth the drive. 4 stars! The number 1 reason Panera keeps making me come back has to be the bagels! Love the Panera bagels, especially the Cinnamon Crunch, Jalapeno and Cheese, and Everything Bagel. Out of the three, the Cinnamon Crunch is my all time favorite since it's more like a tasty dessert! Unlike other bagels at other places, all Panera bagels seem to toast perfectly, just like I want my toasted bagels. They always turn out a little crispy on the outside but soft and moist on the inside. I'll get the bagels more often if not for my doctor telling me to limit my carb intake! Have dined in a couple of times at Panera to try out the other menu offerings, but have found the food tasting fresh and delicious but a tad pricey for what you get, hence the 4 stars overall rating. However, staff has always been friendly and inviting at this Panera location, and have never had a problem finding parking. read more

Online ordering was convenient - when I got there I picked up my order from the shelf in the back and was on my way without delay. Cons: 1. I got the the green goddess salad and the Chinese chicken salad. Nothing wrong with it but it didn't taste special. If I go to a restaurant and pay over $10 for a salad, I want something delicious that I can't make myself. This was just plain and so-so. Arrived at the location for some dinner. I decided to order the turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich with chicken noodle soup. The only issue was they only had two choices for bread for the sandwich. The person said that they had a big catering order that used up most of the bread. I would think that if you know an order is coming in that you would work on more bread. Only one time did I come in 10 min before they closed (not 1 minute as she wrote, must be illiterate) and I ate quickly to be conscientious to THEM, not enjoying the experience because I was deferring TO THEM.. but they're turning the light off like thugs while I'm eating!!! Just complete oafs devoid of brain matter to do that. If you don't like your job, AGAIN, find a better one. DON'T take it out on the customers. I've never witnessed rude customers there.
