Quick stop We just swung by last night for some soup and for me, a bagel, before we continued on our way. Our very polite order taker was careful to get the order correct. For my everything bagel with cream cheese he also efficiently sliced and toasted the bagel. The bagel was ok, what I would find at any Panera Bread. Order #665473280 Date: Sunday, December 19th, 2021 I'll start off saying that I'm an extremely patient person, but the "service" I just experienced at this Nanuet, NY location is the worst I have ever had in my life. I'd highly recommend ordering from another Panera location or choosing an entirely different option in the Nanuet area. For a detailed account of my experience, continue reading below: -I was coming back from a weekly gymnastics class at Tumble Bee with my 2 year old daughter and wanted to bring home some food without getting her out of the car seat and to avoid going inside as a Covid precaution. -I placed a mobile order for Curbside pickup at 2:04pm and arrived, parked, turned on my flashing blinkers, and clicked "I'm here" at 2:10pm, although my order initially said that it wouldn't be ready until 2:14pm. I thought, that's great, it's done early... -The order instantly said "Your order is ready!" and informed me to wait in my car and that "We'll find you outside. We'll bring your order to you shortly!" -At 2:35pm, I was getting concerned and decided to call the store, but there was no answer and it just continued to ring until eventually disconnecting. -I eventually reached an employee on the 3rd call at 2:39pm where I asked about the status of my order to see if it had been misplaced. The employee said "I'm not sure but I'll check on that" and immediately hung up on me. -I was a bit confused but hopeful something would come out soon, but after 10 more minutes and after having seen many of the same faces leaving with the remnants of their meals that I had noticed arrived well after me, I decided to go inside and ask what was going on. -So at 2:50, I entered the store (after waking my hungry 2 year old who had fallen asleep while waiting over 40 minutes). I walked to the gap between the counters and asked respectfully, but obviously very irritated, again, about the status of my order to the employee at the register (which I'm pretty sure was the one who had initially answered the phone from the similarity of the voices). -He looked around for a 2-3 minutes or so and found the bag among 4-5 others on the counter behind him and said he didn't know why it didn't go out yet. He then started to get together the drinks that should have been with the order when I overheard another customer come in similarly saying that she had been waiting in her car for 20 minutes before coming in, and it was at that point when I decided to just cancel my entire order and demand a refund. -The employee sighed and called down towards the kitchen area where most food was being prepared and asked for "Maurice". -After patiently waiting for approximately 10 more minutes, I asked to speak with the manager. About 5 minutes after that, an employee in a blue shirt approached and asked what I needed and I asked her if she was the manager. She confirmed that she was the manager when I asked her directly. I then asked her if I could have a refund and be compensated for my wasted time which was nearly an hour at this point. She said she did do the refund, but couldn't do anything else. -I thought that was ridiculous and asked if I could have a corporate complaint phone number or the name and phone number of her superior. She said she didn't have the corporate number and that I should Google it. When I asked again about the name and number of someone above her, she said to speak with "Rose" tomorrow morning after 9am. I asked if I could get that name written down and she wrote "Rosemayra, 9:00am, tomorrow" on a cookie/pastry wrapper and handed it to me and walked away. I took it and then thought to get her name and the name of the original employee that I had spoken too. I asked that first employee to write his name and he put "Andero" which matched his nametag and then I asked him to write the name of the lady helping me at which point he wrote "Theone" (unsure of spelling of both names, but it looks like that on the paper). -I was obviously confused at this point, because while waiting, I was told by several employees that they were trying to get the manager who was named "Maurice" and that was very clearly not the same person that I spoke to. -By now, it was around 3:20 and I again demanded to see the real manager named Maurice. I was continually told that he was in the back and busy and would be able to come soon. -While waiting, another employee went to check and see why Maurice wasn't coming and came back to tell me that Maurice said he had already talked to me. This location is run so poorly. There is always a line, no matter what time, any day. I stopped going for probably 2 years, decided to give it a chance again today. There were basically 2 employees working the front. One making the smoothies abs drinks, the other taking orders. The poor girl was so frazzled she was being bombarded with people asking her for things, as I had to myself, as she forgot to put my drink to go. She dropped the tongs for the toaster, probably just being stressed out, I'm sure they won't be washed and will be used again. The line to wait for food, always 5-10 people waiting. It's just such a long and slow process start to finish. Anticipate a half hour or more. If you're on your lunch break, you waste the entire time waiting. Not to mention my salad "Fuji apple chicken salad" was primarily lettuce, and about 2 apple chips. For 10.99 years extremely disappointing. I feel bad for the employees mainly the girls up front running around like chickens without a head, can barely keep it together. Management seriously needs to help this place, or it's not gonna last. We'e eaten at several locations in several states around the region. It's our preferred quick serve restaurant. However, "quick serve" seems to be a problem at this location. We have stopped at this store because it is in a convenient location for us. We have ordered in line & via the mobile app. EVERY TIME we've come here its been INCREDIBLY slow for the number of people in the building. This Panera location is a bit off the norm for Panera. I was there waiting to place an order, a women came up to the cashier and said the wrong item was in her bag. Then we sat down to await the delivery of our order to the table. A couple nearby stopped one of the staff to say their order was wrong. We were into our food for about 10 minutes when I realized that a sandwich for my companion hadn't made it to her plate. All these errors were rectified immediately with no question, but it's kind of a sign of something is a bit off. But ... the receipt says "your order should be correct every time. If it's not, we'll fix it right away, and give you a free treat for your trouble." Sounds like they recognize they have issues. I ordered lunch online today. I ordered a salad and a muffin, and I picked it up curbside. When I got home, the muffin was not in the bag. I called for a credit. I was literally on hold for 20 minutes. Finally, a male manager gets on the phone, and tells me that they need my credit card number. People- this is simply reheated food made somewhere else! You can go to a Stop and Shop and buy the exact same soup that people act as if it is this chef prepared specialty. The salad is the same thing- go to the grocery store produce section and grab a bagged salad. The service varies. A manager puts forth the effort to act like he is trying to give you the best experience possible. Food comes just a bit too late from what you would expect and the meals aren't put together neatly (sandwiches falling apart, breakfast sandwiches cooked so long the cheese has literally melted off the bagel and onto the plate). Most recently I went in for breakfast and ordered one of the fruit filled oatmeals. Took 20 minutes to receive and was cold when I got it. Did not ask for a new one out of fear of what the kitchen staff might do in retribution. Additionally, I had ordered this same oatmeal at a different Panera and it was served in a much larger bowl for the same price. Normally Panera is one of my more favorite fast food sit down spots, but this one isn't one of the better restaurants of the chain. I'd say on average, expect your meal to be wrong 1/3 visits. Always double check. At least they are always willing to correct it, but forgetting the salad dressing on a Caesar salad is just sad. And last time my pasta wasn't even cook (the pesto pasta was also just plain bad). The best side to get is sliced white bread - it is so much better than their wide baguettes. I placed a "Rapid Pick Up" order here about 45 minutes before arrival knowing to arrive at 8:45 a.m. At 9:10 I decided to find out why my rapid meal was so late. The girl behind the counter, after avoiding and ignoring me, asked what it was that I needed and when I explained she told me to just wait "it takes a while." Uh an hour? With me visibly annoyed at this continued delay and bad customer service, her manager approached to find out what was going wrong and went back to see if the order was coming out. The cashier girl then finally brought out my cold sandwich, dropped it quietly and left, with her same sour attitude like I was the burden. This place is just a mess all around. (To be fair, he did live at the turn of the 20th century) The menu of this quaint yet dapper joint boasts carbohydrates in literally every shape and form in which they can conceivably come. One can actually order pasta served in a bowl of bread. (I think bread-forks and bread-plates are probably on the horizon too... but only time will tell.) The eatery's fanaticism for bread is underscored by the doughy decor (meaning: wall-to-wall pictures of bread) and the establishment's enthusiastically redundant name. Because fun fact, folks: "Panera" means "bread-basket"... so think about that next time you're eating at "Bread Basket Bread". Truly, the sumptuous piquancy of this bread is unrivaled by analogous brands (yeah I'm looking at you Le Pain Quotidien), and though you may be tempted to visit Panera on the daily, there is NOTHING quotidian about it. Had to come back to this review and take away a star. The past few times I have been in here the staff behind the counter has been extremely rude. They don't ask how you are, and they haven't asked what I would like on the side of my order, they always just give me bread. Frustrating to have to take it back or complain to the person running the food since it isn't their fault. After a busy saturday afternoon this weekend me and the girls (3 of us) headed to Panera for some lunch. We came in and the lines were barely there, which was great because usually Panera is very busy after 1pm. I looked around and a lot of empty tables had a lot of garbage on it. That was a little annoying because when all the seats are taken you don't want to sit at table that needs to be cleaned. Luckily we found a booth towards the back and it was clean. I finally remembered to use my Panera rewards card and surprise free pastry for my birthday! I am happy to report it was a very fresh pastry. Everyone's food came out fine. No complaints other than my sandwich missing mayo. I went to the restroom and it was clean as well. Customer service: As far as i know, the workers here are always very nice and helpful! They offer recommendations when you're stuck choosing what to eat. One time I severely disliked my order (squash soup) and they were nice enough to exchange it for me. The place always seems so busy and the workers look like they do their best. EXtra star for you Glenn coco, you go Glenn coco. Hehe Ambiance: like I said, it gets pretty busy and loud. Its hard to get a spot near an outlet and the wifi isn't the best in the world. I usually come here to study if I can actually find a spot, if not I'll head across the street to igrill and camp out there. Food: I'm not gung ho over paninis and sandwiches, but the food is pretty average. The only thing I absolutely hated was the squash soup. It was like eating gerber food..... Although the food is the usual fare, no complaints there. Selection and process is good. The issue I have with this location is that it is not maintained well. A very dimly lit non appealing environment, with Tables that are always dirty, crumbs and wrappers always on the tables and the floor. Shouldn't the workers clean up, a basic wipe down of the tables, and sweep up of the ca would be appreciated. Months later, it's the same situation there.
