They're an organic restaurant that sources all of their ingredients locally. The service was friendly and genuinely welcoming. I had the Morning Bowl, and my partner ordered the Chef's Bowl. You can truly taste the difference when the ingredients are local -- whether roasted, shredded, or raw, everything was delicious! Easily the best veggies I've had in a while. The best part was there was no guilt -- both bowls were perfectly balanced. We also enjoyed a brewed tea, which we learned was made locally as well. Ordered a vegan Tempeh Rueben Sandwich (used German sourdough bread instead of naan because worker wasn't sure if naan was vegan), hot tea, and a vegan blueberry scone. This was a little hole in the wall with the sweetest lady where behind the counter. My husband is gluten and dairy free and cannot eat any red meat tomatoes. A great place to get a healthy meal. This was my first time in Nyack, I was nearby hiking and needed a good lunch. They have a lot of options for vegetarians/vegans or meat eaters. They also have a baked goods area with scones and cookies. Overall, we enjoyed the food and would return. The service could have been more welcoming but it wasn't bad. Of course you know your getting good ingredients that are good for you. We ordered cafe' latte with milk, a morning bowl,and an apple scone. The coffee wasn't for me, I like my coffee sweet! The bowl was so good. Hot, fresh, and flavorful. Had all the good elements; runny yolk, crispy potatoes, smooth kale, and beans bursting with seasoning. The price tag is what hurt the most. I think a solid ten bucks is a good price but it was 13.50 for the bowl. The scone was so yummy! Not overly sweet, it was a nice blend of sweetness and scone. It was pretty big too so worth the price. Our friends actually came back here twice during our visit to Nyack. So they really liked it. My husband and I wanted to explore other spots so we branched our but I wouldn't be opposed to going back when we visit again. read more

Fortunately there's also a million burritos, one of which is a BLAT with bacon, lettuce, AVOCADO, and tomato. There's a nice, thick, smear of mayo in that bad boy. Bae ordered burrito rancheros with scrambled eggs, black beans, cheddar, and salsa. Both came with a side of salad. Both of my parents (bc they're codependent) ordered the mexican chicken wrap. I ordered an iced coffee. My little burrito and I decided to split both burritos. The burrito rancheros was delicious and simple. Egg, cheddar, and beans is always a good combination. I ate the FUCK out of this shit. I saved the BLAT for last because I had high expectations that were disappointed. It was just meh. I can't explain why. True Food is always hit or miss for me. I love that they serve healthy, organic foods, but I don't always have the greatest experiences here. It's counter service, and a lot of their warm dishes/specials are pre-made at the front. They have some vegan/vegetarian options, along with juices and pre-made grab n go in the refrigerated section. I've tried a few different items here and was never really blown away by any of them. The sweet potato burgers are good, but they weren't amazing. Their pastries are also good, but again nothing to write home about. You can find them at a lot of farmers markets in the northern NJ area - I usually see them at the Ramsey Farmers Market. The prices are a little outrageous, even for healthy/organic foods and especially for the portion sizes you pay for (everything is pretty small). I stumbled upon True Food while looking for a healthy place that was open on Sunday. The food was disappointing. I ordered the tofu naanwhich over mixed greens which was disappointing. It was supposed to be tofu baked in Korean spices, but I didn't sense any spices on the tofu at all. The kimchi it was supposed to come with tasted old and nothing like actual kimchi, and it came with avocado on top. While I don't have a problem with avocado myself, it didn't go with the flavor of the dish and nowhere on the menu did it mention coming with avocado. The person I was with ordered the salmon burger special and was also disappointed in the portion size and thought it tasted bland.
