I took my grandkids to Panera for breakfast this morning. Wow! We were all disappointed. I ordered the five cheese souffle, one of the new egg wraps, and oatmeal, plus two muffins. Sounded like a pretty good breakfast to me. But. It was not. I will never order anything with eggs again. The souffle was tasty, but too much crust and not enough egg. there were only about four good bites of the egg part. I left the crust behind because it was soggy. As for the egg wrap--what egg? There was way too much wrap and not enough filling. Again, only a few bites of the filling after pulling off aall the excess of the wrap. The oatmeal and muffins saved the day. Lobby dining open but you ordered from a kiosk. I ordered a turkey & avacado BLT. I guess the kitchen couldn't the difference between lettuce and cilantro, because they loaded (I mean LOADED) my sandwich with cilantro. They didn't give us cups for our drinks so we had to ask for them after we had sat down. I would drive the extra few miles next time to eat a better Panera. read more

I'm a frequent Panera Bread customer and this is the only location that consistently gets your order wrong. Even if they get lucky and don't foul up your order, be prepared to wait at least twice as long (usually longer) than you would at any other Panera in the country. Today's order was again wrong, and when I told the manager this is the worst Panera I've ever been in, he copped an attitude and told me "I didn't have to come back". Don't worry, I'll go hungry or without before I walk through the door of this pathetic excuse of business. Other Panera's in Memphis are always spot on. I love Panera, but when I went to this location the staff was so rude to me in the driver-thru. I just wanted to order a ceasar salad and they were out of Caesar dressing. Which is fine, but when I tried ask about the different dressings (because I've only ever gotten Caesar salad) the employee was so rude to me like I'm supposed to know what kind of dressing comes on their salads. FYI, they don't carry ranch despite their display of a variety of different salads. So then as I try to proceed with the rest of my order the employee cuts me off multiple times yelling "WHAAAT?!" After the third time, I told him he was rude and he responds that he can't hear me. . . I wonder how is it that he heard me say that he was rude but he couldn't hear me trying to place my order. I can speak to the other bad reviews but it's definitely doable imo. I'm on weight watchers and there was food that didn't have a bunch of points that I could eat so I was happy. Had the half Caesar salad and chicken noodle soup. Both were good. The hibiscus tea was good. I Was able to have the chips as well. 12 points for all I ate. I came at around noon on a Tuesday. I was greeted immediately upon walking in the door. The cashier was friendly & patient despite my indecisiveness. My food was ready quickly, but I don't know what I ordered had cheese on it, but the guy was happy o fix it. My food came out hot & delicious. The drive thru is highly inefficient. They need to follow the precedent set by other drive thrus...when certain guests make significantly long orders they should have their car pull aside and bring the food out so that it doesn't home up the rest of the line. Ordered through the drive through. Waited over 20 minutes for my order. Per drive through attendant delay was due to employees called their own meeting due to disagreements with management. Never heard an apology from a manager nor received any discount or refund. I now have a problem with management! I went here for dinner with a client and I ordered one of the new grain bowls and I found a hair in my food. Now one of the servers immediately made me another bowl and corrected the problem but it's just the idea that there are no hair nets that could have prevented this in the first place has really left a bad taste in my mouth. As much as I love Panera, and as much as I wish I could like this location, I can't. The setup is perfect, as there's not really another quick-but-decent breakfast place that offers light food off Union Ave. Bagels are "toasted," and by toasted, I mean they're still cold to the touch. Asking the employees to at least heat up the bagel will only draw irritated eye-rolls. But the worst part? For some unknown reason, this Panera location doesn't sell coffee in small. You have to pay for a medium. Panera usually does a good job with maintaining consistency, but this location has continued to disappoint me time and time again. TL;DR: drive down the street to Chik-Fil-A, or go further to Cooper Young to get real breakfast with character minus the attitude. read more

Pretty good place for sandwhiches and salads. When I usually go there isn't very busy for the most part. You will be given a beeper for which I find it somewhat crazy that they don't just have the employees bring food to the tables but I guess they have their ways of doing business. The drink station is pretty cool if you like a different kind of teas to enjoy. read more

I was so happy when this place opened up on union. Not only is it quick and accessible for us that live in western memphis/downtown/midtown, but their service is quick too! this is your standard panera. it has awesome food, amazing bakery items (their bread loaves are SO GOOD), and great service. Its clean, and new still, and has plenty of booth and table space for people who need to study. Things I like to order (this will be the same as every single panera in the country): -Fuji apple chicken salad -sierra turkey sandwich on a crossaint (yes u can ask them to sub a crossaint) -bread loaves -cinnamon raison bagel with hazelnut spread -baked potato soup Parking-sucks during rush hours. just be aware. I like Panera's food, and have eaten it in most cities that I've lived in. I live close to this location and love the drive through feature for fast, healthy meal options made from high quality ingredients, when in a hurry. However after several years of consistently poor service, and being rushed along before you can catch their inevitable mistake or item they simply didn't give you, I feel a critical review is the only thing I can do in hopes of inspiring improvement in the management, organization style, and hopefully customer service at this location. As these issues have been consistent for years, the location probably needs oversight from corporate. It is tarnishing my opinion of the franchise overall. Today I ordered a four cheese soufflé in the drive-through. Got home to find whatever this inedible item is (see photo) instead of the very overpriced $5 pastry. (It's overpriced even when it comes out as an actual leavened pastry). This has happened to me every time I've ordered a soufflé in the drive through at this location in the past couple of years, (they were my favorite Panera item once upon a time, so sadly I kept trying again, thinking it was bad luck each time), and moreover similar issues have arisen every. time. I've ordered other things as well. (Mozzarella sandwich with no cheese on it for example . Or paid for items simply missing completely from the bag, or no necessary plasticware or napkin or straw, etc.) I hope this is just due to a lack of proper and effective organizational oversight, and not that they leave out paid-for items on purpose, and save failed pastries that belong in the trash to sell to people they see as suckers or for some reason deserving of disrespect. The cost of eating from here is too high for Panera to have such a poor management system in place, where they sell failed rejects at full price. I hope they can improve these issues, because at well-run locations the food is great, healthy and very convenient, but it's starting to be a practice in self deception every time I give this place another chance due to the proximity, convenience and advertised quality. read more

I have to give a single star. I placed an order last week for 3 days this week. Spoke with the manager gave credit card information closed the deal. Show up this morning and nothing. Actually worse than nothing, several different stories. The people did take care of me and I may make it to my meeting on time. I took my time out last week to make sure this was taken care of and Panera just flat out dropped the ball. Now I have to find another source for my catering needs for tomorrow and Thursday. read more

Only the 2nd time ive been to panera bread, had a large mac n cheese, chocolate croissant and an iced coffee. I did not like the coffee much, it tasted a bit meh even when i added more milk and sugar. The mac and cheese was great although i wish it was warmer. The chocolate croissant was yummy! They gave us a sandwich instead of salad after waiting for a long time in the drive through. The turkey chili we received was spilled all in the inside of the bag and on the napkins. The sandwich we did order, it looked like they used the remaining crappy half put together pieces of bread that you should throw away. The bread did not even have the meat and cheese in between but completely fallen out and then wrapped right in its package. This panera just has workers that don't give a ****. There were 2 cars in line ahead of me and the lady taking orders couldn't get anyone's order right. Love the drive-thru! I went through it just a couple of days after they opened. The parking lot was completely full - not a single spot available - when I pulled in. There were only two cars ahead of me in the drive-thru line. I ordered a sandwhich and a salad. The salad was definitely pre-made and I'm pretty sure the sandwhich was too. But they were both very good - especially the salad. The drive-thru line moved very quickly and the girl working the window was sweet and helpful. read more
