My hubbie and I just finished dinner at this Panera's. For $35.00 we had two soft drinks, he had the French dip and I had a bowl of soup and a half of a chicken chipotle avocado and bacon sandwich. My husband had to take three bites of the roll before he reached any of the roast beef. So to say the meat was scarce is an accurate statement. My tomato soup was in a small bowl overcrowded with toasted bread cubes that absorbed half the soup and then became not edible as they turned into mush. It was hard to tell what was on the sandwich but for the most part it was tasty. I stopped going to Paneras years ago because the restaurant was expensive and the salads were getting skimpier and the sandwiches smaller. Not sure it has improved any. Food is as good as any panera and the atmosphere is pleasant. The service is where this restaurant falls short. We've ordered delivery a few times now and they have managed to get something wrong just about every time. The last time we ordered they forgot an entire smoothie, so we called to ask them to deliver it or refund it and they said we would need to come and get it as it was ordered through DoorDash so no refund could be given (we didn't order through DoorDash but through the Panera app). We also overheard them talking about us on the other end of the phone. They were very rude and as an ex-panera employee I am very disappointed in this location. This is the best Panera I've ever visited in my life. I've come multiple times and it's always on point. Lettuce is fresh not spotty or slimy, customer service is excellent, food comes out fast, coffee is always fresh even at weird in-between hours (I'm that person who asks when the coffee was made). They never make you feel like you have to use the digital kiosk to order (side eye at the Sterling location). They are always happy to take your order human to human at a register. The same woman always working the register is so nice. I've visited many Paneras in the NoVA area, the others fall short, this one doesn't. read more

Its a pretty standard Panera in the Lansdowne area. Note that there is a second entrance in the rear next to the main parking lots, so if you can't find street parking, just go around. The interior looks like every other Panera, and the food is pretty consistent. The one thing I give this Panera a leg up on is service. The gentleman who was clearing tables and taking care of the dining room was amazingly friendly and accommodating of everything. Not something you see everyday anymore. read more

The portion sizes are small. I was in another panera location last week for a cup of soup and it was filled all the way up and was great. I decided to order a bowl this time, and it was not even filled half way. Save yourself the extra money and just order the cup of soup. Stopped in for a bagel and scone. Food was comparable to other Paneras. The toasted Asiago cheese bagel I ordered took about 5 minutes to appear after ordering on a not that busy Saturday morning. The staff was mostly young high school aged kids who all seemed pretty incommunicative and disinterested in their jobs. We watched them chase down no less that three people who had ordered just to tell them that they didn't have what was ordered. Not sure when Panera decided that carpets were a good idea in restaurants, but we were there before 10am and it was pretty clean that the floor had not been cleaned recently. I'm usually not terribly upset when my order is wrong- but this has perturbed me greatly. I order this bagel and cream cheese, and a bacon, egg and tomato wrap. The wrap was- meh... but then I got to work, and I'm 7 months pregnant and can't wait to dig into my cinnamon crunch bagel with HAZELNUT cream cheese- when I open the bag and the bagel is cut all strange and someone just threw in reduced fat chive and onion cream cheese.... I mean, it's Panera, so you know what the menu and coffee situation are going to be. Five stars for this one though because 1) even though it's in a town center, the parking situation is really good here - plenty of free street and outside lot parking, and 2) the staff were really nice. I had just downloaded the Panera app and was having some difficulties and they were very patient helping me to make sure I got my reward points. If your business is struggling, don't steal from the customers that still support you.. there's another way around your problems, because now you've lost more business anyway. Nonetheless, $40 for x2 subpar 1/2 sandwich + cup of soup combos, x1 kids Mac & cheese, and x1 drink is excessive when both sandwiches were about 2"x3" each and soups cups and Mac were each literally only filled half way to the top. Grilled cheese was burnt, and broccoli cheddar soup had noodles in it and was incredibly watery... seems like they ran out of soup and had to improvise by adding water and elbows. No eating utensils were included with the delivery. Good food and excellent service. I order from this Panera regularly and it's always accurate and tasty. Today I had an order that got a little messed up, which unfortunately I didn't see until I got home. I received a salad version of the sandwich I wanted (likely due to a mutual miscommunication) and my side of chips wasn't included. I never do this but I decided to pull a Karen because Panera isn't the cheapest food around. I went back and politely showed the cashier the receipt, he immediately put in an order for a new sandwich and offered me a cookie. No additional questions, no negative attitude and the sandwich was ready quickly. The team leader apologized (even though it wasn't her fault, again - likely a mutual miscommunication). I ordered Panera this morning Togo off my phone. I love how fast they are!! I walked in the door this morning and the line was almost out the door. I'm just upset with the quality of the food. Last time I went the soup was like warm then today I got a poly made breakfast sandwich. There was way more bread then egg and my bagel came with no cream cheese when I asked for extra cream cheese. I also had to pretty much wait in line to get a cup for the drink that was ordered too. I stood and the pick up area for a while and no one would even engage with me then I finally went to the front and jumped in before the next customer to get a cup. No one would engage with me. I've been going to this Panera for years. Generally Panera has good food. They do ok on the food here. However, I've had issues with the service and they don't seem to ever wipe down the tables. They have a tendacy to get orders wrong. I was there the other day, waited 30+ minutes for food. 20 minutes into it, it turns out they were out of bread bowls and were waiting for me to ask when my food was coming out. The person behind the counter was throwing the plates down so the apples on the plates were rolling off. Fortunately I was catching them. I then looked for the manager, but it turns out this guy was the manager. Then he gave me attitude when I asked for extra bread to make up for the lack of a bread bowl - which is what I paid for - maybe he watched too much Seinfeld and was trying to be the soup nazi. Everybody has bad days, but customer service should still come first. read more

Update- since the review , we have been to the location frequently and since new management and some consistent staff- it has improved. The manager knows us by our first name and staff seems to have it together for the most part. Thank you for improving the service and most of all speed at breakfast- as it makes a huge difference when in a hurry. I've been here on multiple occasions and service is consistently slow, staff is always confused or not sure where things are or where to find "peanut butter" or things to complete order. Although they are friendly and do what it takes to make up for it, it really is more trouble and time consuming than not to come into the store. I came in for a bagel (not toasted) and peanut butter to go and it took 18 min. The cashier apologized and gave me an extra bagel but that wasnt really what I needed or wanted. I recommend ordering online and leave ample time for them to get it done and pick up. Just be sure to check your order before leaving. read more

I'm not really sure why everybody loves this place. I've had a bunch of items off their menu. As Shania Twain would say, "That don't impress me much". I will say one thing here keeps me coming back. That one item is their Everything bagel. I could eat a dozen of those alone. I'm not really sure what they put in it, but its by far better than any other one I can find around. This last trip in I had to decide if I just wanted everything bagels for lunch or actually order something off the menu. I'm not really a fan of the sandwiches. They aren't nasty, they are just o.k., nothing really sticks out about it. I do on the other hand like their Asian chicken salad, that I do like. So it was one Asian chicken salad and one toasted everything bagel. =) The salad was good, the bagel was excellent. Nicely toasted with some butter. Mmmmm. I liked it better than the salad, but that was good also. I won't lie. Their cinnamon crunch bagel is also good. So when it comes to ranking this place I'm stumped. Food wise I'd give a 3. Everything bagel wise, I'd give it a 5, so I guess I'll settle for a 4. So if you are in the mood for an ass kicking everything bagel and a cinnamon crunch bagel, this is your place. read more

The food was very good. I order the steak and blue cheese salad and my wife got the 1/2 Turkey Bravo and bowl of Broccoli Cheddar soup. We both got baguettes with our meals. I love the bread! My issue with this place was that when I walked in, I stood at the cash register for 2 minutes before anyone said a word to me and I got eye-to-eye contact a couple of times before then. I noticed the employees walking around also looked so miserable. Evidently this isn't a good place to work. Even while they all looked miserable, they still turned out good food. read more

This is like every other Panera you'll come by. Same menu and same food options. Service slacks in the summer and holiday months because they hire college students but you still get the same quality food. As of the summer of 2013, they just got some new outdoor seating. It's more modern furniture and far more comfortable than the other stuff. I look forward to enjoying it during the fall and spring months. Dog friendly outside, a huge plus for the area. read more
