Some friends have raved about Panera, but I don't know what the fuss was all about. My Asiago steak sandwich was not very good. The steak was fine, the veggies were fine, but the bread... UGH... it was way too hard! My nine year old had a big stomach ache that led to diarrhea from the mac n cheese. He had diarrhea for THREE DAYS!!! My four year old's chicken soup was good, but it wasn't worth the money. And here's why... everything here seems to be based on the philosophy of "let's see how we can charge the customer for a meal rather than an individual item". I didn't want the baguette roll for an additional $1.89!!! I didn't realize what they did until I sat down and looked at the receipt. Perhaps the one saving grace is the bakery. The bear claw was good. The lemon shortbread cookie was ick. My four year old only ate the M&M's off the cookie. Highly not recommended. Oh, and if I want something that's a thousand times better than a bear claw, I will go to Swiss Haus Bakery in Center City where they have a delicious almond croissant filled with a huge helping of wonderful almond cream. read more

I was there this week, it was a rainy day and damp evening. I thought that I'd stop in for a bowl of soup and a half sandwich. They have a fireplace and I thought it would be perfect.....well... boy was I mistaken!!! It was 8:15 when I sat and started eating...all of the sudden I heard a vacuum, and thought no way!! But yes this girl started vacuuming it was on the other of the fireplace so ...no big deal. Then it stops and she goes over to find a plug... comes back no more than 3 feet from me ... and I ask" your not going to vacuum here while I'm eating?" And she precedes to say " well we close at 9 and this has to be done", alls I can think of is the smell of a vacuum while I'm eating??? And she proceeded to vacuum! GROSS!! JUST DISCUSTING!! I packed up the rest of my food and left!! And will NEVER GO TO THE JENKINTOWN PANERA AGAIN!!!!! If the place closes at 9, is that for the customer? Or the staff? Does the vacuuming start at 9? Want to try a different venue to study? Panera Bread provides that warm, homey-feeling with their comfortable chairs and booth seats. There's plenty of seating, so you rarely have to fight for a table like you would have to at a Starbucks. They have coffee, tea, light meals, and pastries to complement your study needs. The staff are friendly and are good at maintaining the cleanliness of the cafe throughout the day. You'll see them every 10-15 minutes checking for trash at all the tables. I've been coming here frequently to study and research. Just be sure to bring headphones to avoid distractions. read more

I loved this place when it first opened, but it's gone so downhill lately. On two separate occasions, I have had the same rude person making my order. I've seen him snap at customers, and there is absolutely no need for that. The manager was also just standing behind the counter drinking an iced coffee. Shouldn't she have been helping the other employees? I found this to be very unprofessional. I ordered 2 soups and half of a grilled cheese and it took 15 minutes to come out. What were they doing, making the soup from scratch? My grilled cheese was also burnt, which was disappointing. I would rather drive to the Abington location than go to this one (even though it's closer). The food and service is much better there. read more

Love it here...love the ambiance & i've always enjoyed good food at this location. Price might be a tad high for what you get sometimes, but I think it's like that almost anywhere now days. The only grievance I have here, I'm hoping was just an isolated experience & not the new norm of the staff working here now. During my last visit, the vibe just seemed off. There were 2 girls at the registers who seemed pretty unhappy...they were really slow & appeared annoyed that so many people were in line for them to take the orders instead of using the kiosks to order by themselves. And then there was a grumpy, older guy & a lady clearing the tables who seemed pretty miserable too. He was actually a bit rude by pushing himself by me, making me have to stop to let him by while I was walking to our table with my tray of food. He could have been a gentleman & moved aside to let me pass instead (since I was the customer), but he either chose not to, or maybe he wasn't thinking...he just seemed very unhappy with being there. The place just opened up a week ago. I stopped in for breakfast the other day... My asiago bacon egg and cheese was prepared to perfection! The place was beautiful and clean (as expected). Friendly staff and all the baked goods look so appetizing. It's a little pricey for the kind of food that is served, but nothing I'm not used to when purchasing from Panera Bread! I generally do not like going to places such as Panera or Dunkin Donuts or really anywhere with customer service where they do not train their employees to be polite and kind, and generally to have a good attitude, but when I went here it was different. the cashier did not acknowledge my presence because he was chatting w a co worker. his manager had to tell him ring me up, and he seemed bothered to take my order. I went over to the pick up area after ordering and the girls behind the counter were obnoxious, to put it lightly. They made fun of someone's name when yelling out their order, were cursing, using their phones, and complaining about people being in the store. That is insane. I have never even written a review in my life but this experience was so bad that I had to write one. I live in the area and have been to this Panera countless times since they opened years ago, and as the years have gone on I've noticed the quality of the food to get worse and worse. Now, this is the second time I've been to this Panera this week. The first time was about 4 days ago; I ordered what I normally get at any Panera: a modern caprese flatbread and a Mac and cheese. I immediately tasted something off with the flatbread once I got home (to go order) and threw it out. That night I had the worst stomach pains and diarrhea. Today (6/20/19) I decided to stop in again (big mistake). All I ordered was a half Asian sesame chicken salad, and here I am in the same condition: very bad stomach pains and diarrhea. At first I didn't know if the Panera is what caused this, but after having the experience again I'm sure the food I ordered is the cause. I didn't even order the same items and here I am with the SAME SYMPTOMS. If you want an overpriced mediocre salad, or mediocre Mac&cheese and sandwich, I suggest taking yourself somewhere else to avoid getting sick like I did twice in a row... not fun. read more

Panera used to be my all time favorite, go to place! Used to always get the mac and cheese (kid at heart) but something changed about it. I am now a tomato mozzarella panini gal! A very convenient place to take the kids. Nice atmosphere and speedy food! read more

Horrible experience at this Panera. Out of at least 15 separate orders, only three were accurate. In addition, when the inaccuracy was addressed, my complaints were not taken to improve the service, as is the case with most business, that is one key way that business gets better, correcting their mistakes. Instead what happened is both outrageous and egregious. Although we were offered a free salad for the one incident, and then another for yet another inaccurate order. We decided to take Panera up on the second offer of a free salad. Since I work from home and am taking care of our mother, I phoned in all of the orders, except two where I was able to go into Panera and personally place a face-to-face order. My brother goes in and picks up the orders for lunch for myself and my mother. Naturally, my brother was uncomfortable in asking for the salad on the house. I know this from knowing him and from my brother expressing this to me. He would simply pay for the order, instead of asking about the salad on the house. So, when I called in to place the order for this particular day, I mention the salad on the house, frustratingly to me, I get the unprofessional/rude general manager Jackie. She is adamantly suggesting that she took the order for a salad for me and gave it to my brother for free. I am telling her that this is not so. And it was not so. I confirm this with my brother, of course, Jackie is incorrect, mistaken. In addition, I had the receipt where she was the cashier and the receipt shows payment. Still Jackie was insistent on her incorrect version of the facts, and I am insistent that Jackie is mistaken. Another worker gets on the phone who explains that there is a misunderstanding, and expresses that we start with a clean slate. At this point and due to Jakie's unusual rudeness, I am hesitant to place an order. I am assured by Charday that it is okay and that no one at Panera would do anything harmful to the food, and also that she (Chardae) would be preparing the order, so I go with it as I was made to feel and believe that all would be okay, no funny business. To my knowledge, and I hope that there was not. So, today, I call and place another order (we were simply going to pay for the order), I placed the order over the phone, my brother goes to pick up the order, he is told by cashier Kristina that there is no order. So, he leaves confused and calls me, I then call Panera and speak with manager Kris who suggests to me that, "because my orders are not right, that I should go to another Panera Bread". She also references that Jacie the GM handed us free food and that she was instructed not to serve us. I should go to another Panera. This same thought was echoed by General Manager Jackie, though with an added insult which was she (Jackie) was instructed by the Regional/Director Manager Paul to, "not give us any free food". How dare any of them suggest that we are after anything free, quite the opposite, as we are extremely particular. "If it is free, it is not for me." I intended requested contact with the Regional Manager through a different source, as manager Kris in Jenkintown Panera gave me the wrong number for the Regional/District manager. Generally, business will tell you that they cannot give the number, but if professional/intelligent will pass your request for contact to the correct person. After speaking to Paul, and assured with the conversation, I open the salad that was ordered earlier in the day, and of course, it too was incorrect. It was to be a Chicken Cobb Salad. There is was no chicken on it. I know that the order was understood when placed because the order is as I placed it was correct on the receipt, but there was no chicken on the salad. In addition, whoever took the order placed it under "A supposedly, instead of "Kay", really? Was I too simply keep accepting all of these inaccuracies? I will not. In fact, I am forever done with Jenkintown Panera and am looking into filing a discriminatory lawsuit against this particular location. I called the store back to inform them about yet another mistake, instead of, "We apologize", thanks for letting us know", etc. Instead, I get more of "Maybe you should go to another Panera, since your order seems to be never right." I get this from the general manager Jackie, and it is mainly because of her unbelievable attitude, in addition with the expressed suggestion that we somehow would spend all of this energy for a free meal is both silly and ridiculous. I informed both Jackie and Paul that I would be returning the salad tomorrow and I will eat where I am treated respectfully as a consumer. In addition, this is about trust, how can you trust people who think this way with food that you are going to eat. Does not work for me. There are plenty of other places to go in Elkins Park, and I do live very close to most of these eateries. I will not eat at Panera, they do not deserve my business. read more

I visit Panera about once a week. I recently made a take out order to bring home for me and my husband who was recovering from surgery. I was given the wrong soup, wrong dressing for the salad and missing was the bread. I returned today and spoke to the manager and she said next time I should request that she check my order. This place just opened up right next to Wholefoods, and it's perfect! They have outdoor seating, which is fabulous for nicer days. Free wifi, as usual. The food tastes just like every other Panera (can't really go wrong), except they gave me less salad than they usually do. I'm assuming this is just because the workers are new, so I'm hoping they up their portions in the future. I'm so glad I won't have to drive to the Willow Grove location anymore! Yay! read more

If I could give zero or negative stars, I would. I've never had such awful service from someone taking orders than I did tonight at this location. The girl at the register taking orders was either very new or incredibly incompetent, or both. Either way she was completely unable to take our order and actually began laughing at my husband at one point when he was deciding what to order, since everything we tried to order they were somehow out of. After giving up trying to place an order we asked for a manager - and no one could find one. An assistant manager finally appeared, and finally a manager but we were done. Not having enough food is one thing, but the attitude of the girl at the register was absurd, as is the management at this location. I went to this Panera at 9:30am on Mothers Day to get breakfast for my mom. When I walked in they were COMPLETELY out of ALL bagels, soufflés, and almost all of their pastries. When I asked the cashier if they were baking anymore she simply answered "no" without any explanation as to why they were out of everything by 9:30am on a day when SMART businesses accurately anticipate needed supply. I then told the cashier that I did not need her assistance since they were out of everything anyway to which she curtly responded "yeah, true". Thus, not only did this experience prove that this Panera can't accurately plan for the amount of business it should expect but the employees also clearly have no regard for or knowledge of customer service as long as they're receiving a paycheck. read more

It started off as a great healthy place to eat compared to other fast food options. Lately service and quality have really declined. Sandwiches look like they are slapped together. I ordered a steak panini and the meat was so cold I returned it and asked them to make another one. They directed me to a microwave elsewhere in the store to warm is up myself! We chose Panera for our office luncheon on several occasions and each time we opened the bag and were missing parts of the meal. One time it was the bread and another the salad dressing. No complaints about the food just the competency of the help. So this is a warning for anyone picking up take out to double check the contents so you are not disappointed. read more

By all means, if you value your health, do not eat from here. I recently ate at Panera in Jenkintown and had the worst experience ever. First, I placed a mobile app order and decided to pick it up around 12 for lunch. When I got there, my order wasn't in the "Online Orders" section of the store. I asked the cashier girl if she could locate my food and it was sitting on the counter behind her. She looked at the receipt for a few minutes, looked around like she needed help with something, then finally handed it to me. I'm not sure why it was back there or why she was acting so strange around my food since it was paid for and sitting there for pick-up. Next, I get home and open up my package with my chicken quinoa broth bowl with French bread and the bread isn't in a cover or wrapped up, it's just lying on top of the plastic bowls. I eat the sub par food, which tasted strange, and went on with my day. I didn't eat dinner that night since I wasn't feeling too well. I woke up the next morning with serious stomach cramps and nausea. I realized about 2 days after I had eaten the food that the Panera is what got me sick. I wasn't able to eat solid foods from Thursday - Tuesday. I called corporate (who were very helpful) and explained to them what happened. Since this Panera is not corporate owned, they contacted the store manager and she gave me a call. Jennifer, the store manager, was extremely rude and insensitive. She stated that none of the food is made at the store. Instead everything comes prepackaged and they just microwave it and serve it. That's just gross to start off with. I thought this food was fresh, not frozen, packaged and shipped in order to be reheated and served. I might as well eat leftovers. The quality of this food is not worth the money spent on it. Next, she said that there is no way I could have contracted anything from her store because nothing is cooked on premises. But isn't the food handled when reheated? Or the server doesn't wash his/her hands? Or when it gets put into the container? Or how about when the bread is just laying on top of plastic that hasn't been washed or cleaned? Then she stated that I must have "gotten the flu from somewhere else." I didn't know that Jennifer is also a Doctor/Panera Bread Manager. She assumed I didn't get sick from there, she didn't say sorry, she didn't help in anyway possible. I didn't want any compensation or gift card or anything; I just wanted to let someone know that something in their food made me sick. After this unbelievable conversation with her, where she badgered me and made me feel worse about my situation, I called corporate back and they contacted the district manager. He spoke to me and said he would talk to her and the staff about customer service. Honestly, she needs to learn about customer service, being friendly, and understanding the situation before letting ignorance and stupidity get in the way of clear judgement. Hopefully Jennifer gets the proper help she most desperately needs. If I were you, I wouldn't risk eat at this Panera or any Panera for that matter. It's just not worth it. read more

I can't believe some of the comments I'm reading on here about this location. If your going to give a food establishment a negative review for their wifi are you really reviewing their food? NO your not. But to give 1 or 2 starts based off of wifi? Seriously? Then compliment their food and service? Geez people wake up. First let me start out by saying I frequent this location quite often during business hours and on occasion on the weekend and I have NEVER been disappointed. 99% of the time it's clean or in the process of being cleaned. You are always greeted nicely and the FOOD is 99% of the time spot on. Yes mistakes happen but they always fix them on the spot. Plenty of parking, friendly staff and clean with good food? How much more can you ask for? But wifi? Kids telling a complaining mom to try somewhere else or stop visiting? It's obvious the kids don't know what mom put the staff through or is mom just nagging because the green peppers where in slices and not shaved? Some might think I work for them, NO I DON'T, I'm just realistic to a fast food establishment. Don't assume during a busy lunch hour in a zip code known for business offices / environment that during lunch it's going to be empty or them just waiting on you. I feel that those who complain are the same ones who complain about rush hour traffic at 8am. Yes wifi is bad there but so is that entire part of the Fairway, yes during lunch there might be a small mistake so look at your food and get it fixed on the spot instead of wining about it here. I like this Panera and it's staff and yes those who don't it's their opinion but is it really an opinion on the food staff and service? read more
