My sister and I were frequent guests at Curds and Whey. Unfortunately we were excited to have lunch today. It was extremely crowded. We sat at our table several minutes before we were given a menu. We kept motioning our waiter to take our order. There was about 30 customers waiting for food. There was one waiter who could not handle everyone. The three ladies at the front counter could have helped. After being avoided for a half hour, we walked out. I have never seen such terrible customer service. Since it's a popular luncheon I do not understand why they do not have extra help especially at lunchtime hours. We will never go back to which was our favorite place. read more

My last meal at Curds N' Whey fell a bit flat. I got the brie, bacon, and cranberry sauce grilled cheese. The sandwich was SO TINY, like a child-sized portion. I was still hungry when I finished it. Also, the cranberry sauce was too sweet. There were like 10 chips on my plate. Disappointing because I have really liked this place in the past. We just moved here. Walked in to ask for a takeout menu. It felt so warm and inviting and the staff behind the counter were so friendly that we decided to stay. Our server Jessica was very welcoming. My wife enjoyed the corned beef special on gluten-free bread. She said it tasted like real deli corned beef. I got a large hunk of Reuben quiche (it was Quiche of the Day) and it was delicious! I wish I was in the area more often so I could come here weekly! My friend and I was going to be in the area and we wanted something light to eat so she found this place on Yelp. It was a little difficult to find because we wounded up in the parking lot right above the store but there was a cute little sign that pointed us to "STORES [on the] lower level". We were kind of confused when we first walked in because the first thing you walk into is the little store that sells desserts, bread and other goodies. There were also no one to bring us into the dinning side but I think that was because they were eating. Once someone from the back saw us, we were greeted and seated. My friend had the Portabella Mushroom Burger ($9.00) and when it came out.. It was huge! And came with a side of chips. I had the Turkey Special Sandwich on Whole Wheat ($10.99) which had coleslaw inside and a side of chips. The sandwich was very good and the coleslaw was absolutely delicious! I am craving this sandwich as I am writing this. The service here was nice and I think the general customer base probably is too. An elderly couple came in the same time we did and was seated next to us. They were such an adorable couple. The husband joked with us about what my friend and I were getting and how we were not to copy them. They then joked with each other about the wife always coping the husband. Great little stop just off The Fairway in Jenkintown! A menu filled with an array of salads (both prepared i.e. chicken, tuna, egg, shrimp and veggie fresh), sammies, soups, burgers, quesadillas, melts, wraps and comfort food staples. There's something for those indulging as well as veg-heads and the calorie conscious alike. The menu is especially adorable as many of the items are named after local neighborhoods and towns. Very cute touch! I used to stop on for lunch with my mom all of the time when I frequented the area more often and the Boca Raton salad was my go-to. It's grilled romaine with a big portobello atop drizzled with the sweetest, thick balsamic glaze. I loved the warm and cold ingredients together! So good! Most recently I stopped in for the prepared foods for din. While it all looked enticing and prepared with care, I wound up choosing grilled salmon which came with creamy tangy honey mustard and a big 'ol hunk of baked mac n cheese for hubs. He loved both but raved about the mac which he said was sweet, contained many different cheeses and topped with buttery breadcrumbs! I got the broccoli salad and it was THE best I've ever had! And it's dairy-free!! Davida the sweet owner was behind the counter helping me decide what to take home and giving me all ingredients in each dish as my family is made up of a bunch of P.I.T.A. Eaters. (Pain in the A**). She also told me exactly how to cook each item I purchased. Great customer service! They have a delightful bakery with schneken, cookies, cakes and fresh breads too! Grab and go items like cheese and crackers, crostini and hummus too. I hosted a family reunion brunch at my home for about 40 people on Sunday, 9/15/2019. Curds N Whey catered the event. First, before I talk about the "rave reviews" from my guests (and they were family so they do NOT hide their opinions), let me tell you how easy it was to work with Davida. She sent me her menus and then she helped me to clarify my ideas about what I wanted to serve and when I wanted to serve it. I made my choices and she explained when I had too much of a type and when I simply had too many choices and too much food. I settled on her Breakfast burritos, challah french toast, turkey bacon, poached salmon and her famous walnut pear salad, along with fruit and desserts that I added myself. From the time I first contacted her to the evening before the event, Davida was in contact with me to follow up and to answer my questions. The staff arrived at the appointed time and to say they were wonderful does not give them enough credit. I will name them because they were so incredible at their jobs, Kevin, Davids's main chef and Linda, Davida's organized, fast and oh so competent set up and serving staff person. I cannot say enough great things about them; they "made" the party a success. I selected my serving pieces, china and silver and showed them where they could find more, left my kitchen and dining room and only returned at the end to find my dishes washed, my range and oven cleaned and the leftovers labeled and in the refrigerators. But perhaps you would like to hear about the food! One cousin's family owns a restaurant themselves; another is an individual who arranges catering for business meetings, many others have held catered parties of their own -- they loved everything that "Curds" served. The poached salmon was perfect. The French toast and breakfast burritos were top notch, so "delicious" was repeated often. And, the display Linda arranged in my dining room was gorgeous and inviting. Many people, most people, in fact, told me that the food was the best they had ever eaten at a catered party -- ever! And an important side note, I had never specified condiments but Davida made sure that syrups and salad dressing and whatever else the food required was present and accounted for. And finally perhaps the best compliment of all: My husband and I were able to stay with my family for the entire party and enjoy it as though we were guests in our own home. We eat here often and everything we get is fresh, high quality, well prepared and tastes delicious! I can't even really recommend particular things as literally everything is yummy. Their breads are always fresh and awesome. We do often order the Turkey Avocado Melt and the Rydal. Most items come with the option to choose a fresh healthy spring mix salad or you can get their broccoli salad which is so tasty you hardly know you're eating something good for you. As if we didn't have enough reason to go, they are now selling breads and pastries from Georges Perrier - I mean, my gawd, does it get much better??? I have only tried the french bread and croissants (trying to watch myself and stay away from desserts - ha! good luck to me), both are scrumptious! We finally made it for breakfast and they had a great deal - a full breakfast - coffee, juice, eggs, meat, potatoes and toast (though I substituted a Georges Perrier hunk of baguette which was nearly a meal in itself - yum!) for $6.50! read more

It's still good food made very well with nice homey service from waitstaff that do not try to build the tab and who do not rush you out. They now have a bread and French Pastry department by Georges Perrier. Honestly the bread is wonderful but the French pastry is just good. For sure workmanlike good examples but not my favorites. In recent years we have had all kinds of soup here, and many sandwiches, wraps, and salads. All were at least good if not outstanding. Back a few years ago we ate their full dinners, but for some reason we just have not had them recently - they were up to snuff, I guess we have a lot of choices... They now do breakfast too and it's worth a trip. I think you can not do much better, I know you can't in the Jenkintown area, and you can do much worse. Prices are quite reasonable for the level of food you get. The servers are all nice and I have had no problems. Someone wrote about issues with an 80 year old waitress - well, yes there is an older waitress and she works hard like all people in their job. If someone like that does not deserve a small break because she no longer moves like Jagger, well I don't know who does. read more

Just stopped in here with the family for breakfast on Saturday. I had heard a few people say how good it was, but I wanted to experience it for myself. What a treat! We had these really good breakfast plates with eggs, toast, bacon, fresh orange juice...I would have licked my plate clean, but I reminded myself I wasn't at home. I took advantage of going to Curds 'n Whey for lunch since I was in the area yesterday. As per my usual experiences there, the food and the service was great! The menu is extensive and both my friend and I had delicious meals. As an aside, I read a previous review insinuating racial bias. My 30 plus years of experience with the owner assures me that she would never allow any such behavior in her establishment. read more

Curds N' Whey is absolutely fantastic and Davida is incredible to work with. Davida and her entire team transformed my parents backyard into the wedding of our dreams. Three weeks before the wedding, we quadrupled the size of our event and they sprung into action. They helped us craft the perfect menu, staff the day, setup and breakdown the entire event, helped us identify other vendors. Their food was spectacular and we had several guests ask for their information. People are still pointing out their favorite menu items . Our tent and tables and linens company complimented Davida and said they made their jobs incredibly easy. I can't say enough nice things about Davida and her colleagues. Half cafe half take out/catering. Menu is full of salads and sandwiches, great place for lunch. I got the turkey avocado melt with provolone and honey mustard.... Their honey mustard wasn't traditional honey mustard. It had a kick to it I wasn't expecting and honestly didn't want bc that's not why I order honey mustard. It tasted like it was mixed with horse radish. Not bad, But not what I ordered. I ordered my sandwich on rye bread and when it arrived it looked amazing. But when I flipped my slides together the other side of my toasted bread appeared to be discolored a little bluefish/green. It looked like the bread had gotten moldy in an area and instead of replacing it they just scraped off the mold. Really grossed out but I was on my hour lunch break at work and didn't have time to order another meal. I ate around the moldy spot and tried to ignore it but that lack of cleanliness and outdated food made me nauseous along with my spicy mustard that I wanted sweet. I might give this place another chance bc it's right next to my office and it really offers a lot but til then I hope they check expiration dates and properly store their food before someone gets sick. read more

Every year my employer provides breakfast for the entire crew at the end of our season. We were excited about this place because most of us drive by it 3 to 4 times a day for our job. The turn out was a gradual one due to people finishing earlier than others but nevertheless, it was obvious that a few black employees arrived first and settled in. I was maybe 4th to arrive. The one waitress "who had no clue", waited for the arrival of several other workmates (all of which were white and sat a table two away from the initial few arrivals), to start taking their food orders first. As more an more of my workmates showed up, she continued to take their orders. Food started arriving as more and more of my white friends entered and ordered. Still no one attempted to take the orders of the 1st arriving and now 7 black patrons. My boss heard our grumblings and said something to a staff member who finally started talking our orders. I ordered a western omelet and rye toast with oj and coffee. Within mins 2 more of my white workmates walked in sat down and ordered. And just as before, their food arrived and they were on their 3rd cup of coffee and I had yet to receive my 1st cup of Jo. My oj arrived but I had to ask 3xs for my coffee. My other black workmates who sat at tables with my white friends (who were eating and some were finished eating, had not received their food either. One friend actually came over to me and jokingly suggested that I order a sandwich for Thursday pickup. What finally did it for me was when the final two arriving workmates were almost done and the initial few first arrivals were still waiting on their food. I got up and left w/o saying anything to anyone bec I did not feel I could trust whatever came out of that kitchen but I did not want to influence anyone else opinion regarding what we were all feeling. Sorry I can't relay how the food tastes but I simply couldn't take any more. NO WAY to Curds N Whey. read more

We were referred to Curds and Whey by a family friend to cater my stepfather's memorial service. Davida went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was discussed and agreed upon. We gave her and Chef Kevin a large wish list and she delivered! They worked well through the short time frame and changed we threw at them. Everything was delicious and fresh. And hot. We ordered many appetizers and all were amazing including her servers. We cant thank Davida and her team enough. Our family and friends were impressed as well. I took my mother out for an early mothers day lunch and found this wonderful café. We had the cheese blintz's that came with a spring salad with the best home made house dressing. Maybe it was the MOOB event tonight, and the fact that I couldn't make it, that put the desire to slay a burger in my head this morning. Whatever it was by 3pm I was a wild-eyed, meat & cheese crazed lunatic! Damn all, I HAD to have a burger! But where? I'd already had enough of 95 & 76 and wasn't about to head back into the city. I live in the burbs and pickens are slim in my hood. There is the square paddy daddy's girl place around the corner and about 15 golden-arched clown houses within a mile...but my shadow hasn't darkened the doorstep of a chain since reading Fast Food Nation. So where does one go? Well if you are anywhere near Abington/Jenkintown get your ass over to Curds & Whey. In a rare moment of clarity, I remembered the words of Aaron O. "Curds & Whey has the best burgers". Well my friends, I can't say it's the "best" but it was damn good! Hand pressed paddy (cooked to order) served on a grilled brioche bun. Fresh romaine, beautiful slices of tomato, and thick pickle slices are served on the side along with chips and ketchup. My one and only experience with this place was great/bad at the same time.... Our waitress was kinda crabby, the old lady at the register was downright rude, and the host sat our group at a table without highchairs (we had 3 babies, so duh). On the other hand the food was to die for, another waitress that helped us was just so nice to us and they have great free samples in their waiting area/deli. Horrible. The service was terrible, on all levels. The waitress didn't seem to understand that a dairy allergy meant that cheese was a no-no. (My wrap came with cheese on it, had to send it back) This was a disaster on all levels. No apology either for the mistake; nothing off the bill, no care about the fact I could have been spending the rest of my day in the ER. If you have any desire for good service DO NOT EAT HERE!! Attended a catered event for8-10 people and it was amazing. A delicious pasta salad with tomatoes, spinach and feta (not too salty). I am frequently in the area around this restaurant, wanting to stop by for a cup of tea or coffee, or just find a place to hang out for a while and chat with friends. We often eat at Jules Thin Crust, and this place is right next door. I wish I could find more here that I like, but it just doesn't speak to me. The inside of this place is cute, and there's a pleasant patio outside (although it does look out on a vast expanse of parking lot). But it seems to appeal to an older audience, and one with a bit more money to drop than me, and with slightly different tastes. This place has a little market area with a number of retail items for sale. The prices are very high and there's nothing that really strikes me as unique or something that I really want to get and can't get elsewhere. I could see buying high-quality loose-leaf tea in a place like this, but the tea selection doesn't impress me; it's all stuff I can get elsewhere for cheaper. And in spite of the name suggesting cheese, I don't see any cheeses that really grab my attention either. Across the way is Trader Joe's, which has an outstanding and cheap cheese selection, so if this place wants to draw me in with cheese it needs to either offer low priced cheese, or truly unique artisan cheeses. The people who work here are pretty nice, but the place is usually really busy. They seem to be doing really well without me so maybe it's just not my place. Oh, as one final note, the company's website doesn't have any useful information (like hours, menu, etc.). It's just a flash-only photo gallery...that seems a big no-no, if you are going to own your own domain name, at least put up your business name, address, and hours, at a bare minimum! read more

A perfect establishment. I absolutely recommend this place for a casual lunch. Very close to Abington, jenkintown, willow grove mall.... Parking is easy!! The place itself is so quaint. It is nothing spectacular on the inside but personally I think that adds to the charm! There is a fresh bakery section with some homemade treats that brought me back to my childhood. They weren't overpriced, either. The food... The food!!! The BEST lunch I have had in a while. I never order salad, but my mother did and I was jealous!!!! So delicious. My meal was mouth watering too. I couldn't finish. I didn't want to! I wanted to save it to bring home to my husband to enjoy too! Must go here! read more

Just had a lovely lunch with a good friend. So many good sounding options to choose from, but I went with the Grilled Shrimp Quesadilla. Great choice! The shrimp were fresh, crisp and perfectly done, with black beans, avocado and cheese. Served with salsa, sour cream and a salad. Wonderful. It was a beautiful day so we ate outside.
