I haven't been to Panera Bread since 2019 and saw the pictures of their new Flat Bread pizza so thought I'd try it. I got the combo with the Cesar salad. It was mediocre at best. I ate one slice and gave the rest away. The salad was mediocre as well and had a couple pieces of brown, wilted lettuce. Customer service was great and the restaurant was extremely clean. Probably the most dissatisfied, unhappy group of people I have encountered having a job. They do not greet and just give you the dead eye when they take your order. The staff in the back look just as miserable... They just yell out and don't even wish you a "good day or thank you for ordering"... I love Panera I've gone to two different locations to always order our usual Chipotle Chicken Avocado Melt. This was the first time at this location and it was the absolute worse. When I got home and took a bite of my sandwich I literally had to check my receipt because I thought I got something else . When I called to complaint I dealt with a very sweet girl who was very friendly and apologetic mentioning how she would speak manager - so I can get a store credit for the inconvenience . Little do I know within 10 minutes I had a call coming in and it was the manager Esperanza. She was completely argumentative talking in how she knows there was avocado in that sandwich. I then explained how I go to two different paneras so im quite familiar since this happens to be my to-go-to sandwich. She then was like well im calling you to let you know that I know that your sandwich had avocado and peppers because she rolled the sandwich. She then ask her employee - a guy- "hey didn't you put avocados in that sandwich" he then was like "yeah I did" . I then told her how after a long day of work and dealing with my toddlers the last thing I have is to call to get free sandwiches. She then mentioned how she knows how she coaches and trains her employees so she knows they did well. I mentioned how I go to the Alhambra Panera all the time - then said also the one in Glendale since I work by there . She had the audacity to be a smart mouth and say "I thought you just said Alhambra" completely ghetto and unprofessional. I was absolutely stunned to find how she would call to argue in how im wrong and she is right . As I attempted to call to file a complaint - I decided to come on here and realized this Panera has a reputation for these skimpy terrible sandwiches . I will definitely escalate and write and formal complaint since I did not appreciate how she called to argue with me. It's a really good size Panera, lots of seating and little walls in between so you're not right on top of other people while enjoying your meal. I also liked how they had a lot of bakery items for sale as well as a little fridge up front to grab other items. Employees who complain about minimum wage being too low should actually work. 4. When your restaurant is empty, your employees should clean. See number 3 above. 5. Update to number 4: Employees are now cleaning tables. We love to see it. 6. This sandwich I ordered, while it's cold because it sat in the pickup area (not to be confused with the ONLINE pickup area), is actually tastier than I expected it to be. Kudos. 7. I'm extremely disappointed with this Panera locations customer service. Upon first arriving at 8am the seating/eating areas were extremely dirty. No one was out making sure the premises was clean. As I walked to the counter, I then waited 8-10min while two employees came to the register, looked at me and didn't say one word. No greeting, no good morning, not even a hello. Finally I ordered, and the woman who took my order was polite thankfully. I expressed to her of the poor treatment being reflected and she sincerely apologized. When my food was ready and I went to the back to retrieve it, I stood there waiting for someone to help me while the employees were at the counter with both of their backs turned to me. What's even more frustrating is that they knew I was there because I had set down the little square thing they give you that vibrates on to the counter. Needless to say it was loud enough for them to turn around and ask if I needed any help. When they eventually turned around, this is exactly what was said to me..."ma'am if you could set that in the basket and take your food it's right there." In shock i actually stopped and stared at her for a second surprised that actually spoke to a customer in that tone of voice with a demanding demeanor. I asked for extra cream cheese and she replied in a condescending tone, "umm no if you want extra it's $2.66." What sad is that I've been coming here for years, before any of these rude or poorly trained employees ever arrived. I've also been working in the customer service industry for 10 years. Each time I go somewhere to eat, the first thing I look for is the level or sincerity of customer service at that restaurant. I say that because customer service is extremely vital in running a successful business. Your simple customer service can make or break someones day and every detail counts. Wouldn't you wanna be the restaurant with the best employees with the best customer service? I'm also including this detail because when I receive significantly fabulous customer service, I try to go out of my way and make an effort to leave a good survey, review or compliment it. However that goes for when I receive extremely poor customer service literally as I walked in the door up until the time I left. I'm disappointed in Panera for hiring employees with such lack of care and consideration for the customers. Especially the customers that really love Panera. They were out of some bagels for the 13-pack plus the tub of cream cheese but she was extremely patient and helped me get something for everyone's tastes. I was craving a tuna sandwich so I came here because I had a gift card. I ordered the half tuna sandwich. First of all, I'd like to say that is extremely petite even for half a sandwich. They didn't put much tuna in it either. It looks like they just slathered it minimally. It didn't even taste like tuna. It had more mayo than tuna. The consistency was very runny. Also, I asked it for it for to be toasted and they didn't toast my bread. I guess for the price what can you expect. it's a good thing that you buy something for five dollars or more and get another half sandwich free because that half a sandwich was just a bite/snack. I'd like to add that I didn't know where to pick up my food and the cashier never told me I had to pick up my my to go order/food on a side area of the restaurant. I kept checking several times for my food in the front area by where I ordered and no one who worked there bothered to tell me that it was ready or where to pick it up. Overall I'd like to say that the food is not very good in this place I will not be returning and I will be giving my gift card to somebody else.
