This shopping center is always one of our stops on the way to and back from LA. We've eaten here few times and it's always been OK but not great. On the latest stop here we ordered... Tomato Mozzarella Panini - OK Bowl of Clam Chowder - OK I asked for bread with my soup and ended up with an apple. Who eats apple with soup? The staff seem always in a hurry (even when not busy) which causes mistakes in orders. It's happened several times. The bathroom was dirty with paper towels all over the floor. read more

I am late to the Panera train. It has an amazing selection of breads (my weakness) and everything always looks super fresh. The egg breakfast sandwich on ciabatta with cheese and bacon was honestly the best breakfast sandwich I have ever eaten. No lies. Delish! This place has it together. I have never waited longer than five minutes for my food. In fact, I usually get the food by the time I fill my cup at the end of the counter. A Gilroy staple. Love it. read more

I am beyond disgusted by the level of disrespect and rudeness I experienced while in the store. Honestly we went in there to get our pick up order from the shelf we got it and asked politely you know about the sodas that we added to a receipt because there's no option to select fountain drinks on the menu so we out of them in the special instructions hoping that they were just add them to the order or charges separately whatever it may be but we asked for two sodas please do sprites. The woman at the register comes back with some heavy attitude saying that well you know we didn't or they didn't bring it up for us so we have to wait in line and then they'll ring us up for sodas. I mean if we had the time to stand in line and wait we wouldn't of ordered online for pick up it's completely defeats the purpose of what their supposed mission is. Then another woman came up and gave us just the same level amount level unnecessary unnecessary negativity and argumentative comments instead of listening to us the customers and hearing what we feel the issue was. Ultimately just the worst customer service I've in a long time really ever come in contact with I do not recommend going to this place ever find a different Panera bread it's worth the food. And not to mention we put "please" on the request. We sat outside and ate her food and called them to talk to the manager and to be honest I don't think we were actually connected to a manager I think it was just the same rude cashier that we spoke to inside but we voice our concerns then in our frustration and not only were not offered you know just two drinks to use the whole situation but we were instructed to go inside and stand in line so we can pay for the two drinks. The least they could've done for this problem is comped us two sprites and maybe taking the time to show us on our phone where it is we're supposed to click fountain drink for future reference. I've worked in customer service for 15 somebody years and in all my years in different industries and everything I've never once found an excuse valid enough to treat customers way they treated us. read more

Save your money and go somewhere else!! This is the worst sandwich I've ever had! I had a turkey blt and there was just a ball of turkey in the middle, like how am I supposed to eat that?!! If I'm paying $10 for a sandwich I expect it to be ready to eat not have to fix it myself! I'll never be back!! read more

I placed a online order for pick up. I did not see a box to pick for sodas, there was only coffee and smoothies so I put in the extra instructions box - 2 sprites please- when I went in to grab my order I did not see the drinks so I asked the girl at the register about them and she responded very rude to me " well you were not charged for the drinks that's not how it works so you can stand in line ( mind you the line had about 6 people and I was already running late) and you can pay for them " I thought this was very rude and unprofessional. She could have explained this better to me but I didn't really get why I couldn't add the drinks in the extra instructions box if I couldn't find the drinks I wanted. I had walked out at this point and called to speak to a manger , this person was just as rude telling me no one else had ever had this problem, pretty sure it was the same girl who "helped" me inside . Needless to say , find a different Panera bread besides this one. Every employee in there was rude, as I started to talk to another girl in there she to was rude didn't say a word and just turned her back on me and didn't say one word to me. I think this misunderstanding should have resulted in 2 free sodas at the least . I never once was rude to these girls and as you can see I put PLEASE on my online order! read more

The most horrible Panera... the girl on the front "manager" Spanish young girl on Jan, 28 at 5:30 pm gave such a rude and unwelcoming attitude. As my wife and I were walking in my wife was looking for a mask in her bag as she did see the front signed warning about wearing mask. She couldn't find one in her bag as she left it in the car and asked the "cashier manager", if she has any available she rudely responded that there are two signs in the front entrance in case next time we don't see them. It's not a big deal we get it but the attitude was such a low class unneeded welcome and terrible customer service. The next time we walked by her she gave us a dirty stare also.... She made us feel very uncomfortable.. we wanted to leave as fast as possible.. also no napkins or toilet paper in restroom, out of several menu items like (BREAD) or avocados .. won't be returning read more

I want to share a out Landis bunch of crap that occurred at the Gilroy store.I took a senior citizen here for some soup . He has a bad kidney and can only light. He ordered three small bowls to eat. This store charge him $22.00 no senior discount. This totally a ripoff and this company and store has no compassion. Please don't patronize is store in Gilroy. read more

This is the third time this place is getting our order wrong. This time a smoothie is missing. The driver said he never got one from them and the delivery slip shows "order modified" and the smoothie is not checked like the rest of the order. I called and got this arrogant chicky poo who called herself manager on the phone and laughed when I told her that I want my money back for the not delivered smoothie - they are expensive. She blamed it on the driver but this is now the third time they are doing this to us and we had different drivers. The staff especially the manager are either thieves or complete morons. Do NOT order there! Gilroy has many good places to order and eat. This local Panera is not one of them! I will inform corporate of what is going on there. read more

I always come here on my roadtrips to NorCal. It's conveniently located and open in the early hours for the morning haul. The sandwiches and salads are great. It's pretty decent fast food. The salads are usually overdressed and sometimes the sandwiches are greasy (if you get paninis). The prices are like Corner Bakery prices. The breakfast is blah, though. The breakfast sandwich was pathetically puny for $4. Totally tiny. I just wish they had healthier options. Everything sounds healthy but then I find it too sweet/greasy/salty/creamy. But all in all it's good. I love Panera. read more

Gilroy is not overflowing with healthy lunch options and since I'm "trying" to eat better I tend to come here when I forget to pack a lunch. I really like the shrimp salad sandwich when it's in season and the chicken apple salad sandwich is pretty good too. The soups tend to be a little salty for me or to creamy? Maybe I'm just overly sensitive. Service is always friendly and the restaurant is generally hopping with happy customers. They have pretty good breakfast options of your basic pastries, beagles and fresh bread along with cookies, muffins, dessert bars and rolls. But my favorite of all time is their souffle's. OMG they are so good and sell out fast. Very much like a quiche but better. The crust is flaky, the fillings are creamy, and perfectly cooked. My mouth is literally watering as I write this. That's how yummy they are. I got greedy one time and ordered 2 for myself and ate both. I was in a food coma for hours! I think the prices are a tad on the high side but I've found that they are at least consistent across most of their chains. Unfortunately the consistency of the food at each chain is not. But this one seems to be all good. The only think I didn't care for was their chopped salad. It wasn't as "chopped" as I've had at other places. But that's the least of my concern. Overall the food is good, service is good, they get your food out promptly and they do it all with ease. So if you're looking for something a little healthier than Panda, Dave's or Sonic, this place will give you what you're looking for. Don't get me wrong, not everything here is healthy. They have plenty of oh so good but horribly bad for you choices too! And don't forget to try one of their egg souffles. YUM! read more

I love me some Panera, but this place is a little underwhelming. The food came out quickly (too quickly?), and it was obviously thrown together. My children's peanut butter and jelly sandwiches could not have been slapped together in a more careless fashion. In the middle of the bread was a thick and small chunk of peanut butter with a splat of jelly on it. Nothing had been spread evenly on the bread. The kids were too young to care, but as the paying parent, I would have appreciated a little more pride in preparation. All the sweeteners were some off-brand too. Kind of weak, if you ask me. The adults' food were OK, no problems there. I know it's just Panera, but it still seems like these folks could slow down a little bit and make things properly. read more

I lived in St. Louis when the St. Louis Bread Company, the precursor of Panera, was born. I loved the soups and breads and sandwiches and baked goods. It was great that when Panera bought them out and expanded they kept all the original items I remember and added more. We don't have Panera in Hawaii so when I travel I have to get my fix. I got some of my favorites, the cheddar broccoli soup with French bread, and a ham and Swiss on sourdough. They were as good and fresh as I remember. Service was fine, albeit a little slow. Things have gotten a bit pricey, too. I feel bad for the folks who have had bad food and/or service experiences. Luckily all my experiences over the past 25+ years have been good. read more

My family and I, enjoy coming to Panera for breakfast. Usually, the food is amazing and worth the wait. However, the 1st time I tried their online ordering, there was a mistake with my order and it could have been easily prevented. Once I ordered, I showed up at the allotted time and picked up my order with no issues or wait (I had paid online). I ran out to my car (no one called out, tried to warn me or even looked my way) and after starting it, had a bad feeling and decided to check the contents of the food bags only to find that I was missing a salad. I went back in to find that they didn't have the salad mix I had requested so they had not made the salad (not even a note on my food bag to warn me). My phone number had been on the order, this could have been avoided and my time saved. To Panera, please use a customer's number if you need to contact them. They will appreciate it. read more

Panera is a healthier alternative when you are dining out. Fresh soups, salads and breads. Their pastries look delicious but fattening. The apple crunch muffins are great. Panera listens to their customers and has returned to serving a half French roll with the pick two combos. Look for calorie counts posted on the overhead menu or pick up a table menu at the counter and take your time to decide on what you would like to order. Caffeine free soda, teas, smoothies, and coffee are extra. read more

3.6 Stars So it's a Tuesday afternoon around 12 noon before Thanksgiving; were driving to Santa Barbara and were hungry. Why not stop for some Panera? YOLO yelpers! Food (was it good?): I always like to choose something different every time I go to Panera so my experience can be different. This time I had 1/2 a Bacon Turkey Bravo w/ 1/2 Chicken Noodle Soup with some of Panera's chips. I don't know what it is...but the last time and today I seemed to order some Ok/Mediocre food. My Bacon Turkey Bravo was ok but the bread was awful. Chicken Noodle soup was good, very hot, fresh, and tasted better than Campbell's. Chips were good and fresh as usual. Service & Crowds: I noticed that most of the workers there were Hispanic. The workers who were behind the cash registers were normal. They weren't rude but they weren't super friendly either. The workers making the food seemed like they were rushing way too quickly to finish the food. I mean sure who would want to wait a long time for their food? But no one wants to know that their sandwich has been slapped on with turkey and tomato rushingly. At the peak of the lunch hour, it was super crowded. There were no tables to sit at either, we were lucky that we were eating in the car. Things they could do/add to improve: -For takeout they could put the items in one big paper bag or a few small paper bags (not put the small bags into the big bag; just do one or the other listed above) -Add some seating near the fireplace (next to the door) -Make a takeout line & a dine-in for the peaking lunch hours -Better containers for soup (less easily to spill preferably) -If they can...add some outdoor seating -Make this Panera a drive thru since its pretty busy Hopefully the next I come back my review will be raised to 4 stars. read more

We have a few Panera breads in my hometown of Fresno and i love them, so i decided to go to one while visiting here in Gilroy. My husband and i went at about 15:00 and it was not very busy. However we had to wait awhile for service even though we were the only people in line. We got our food pretty quick and sat down to eat. I went to grab drinks for us. Passion papaya tea and agave lemonade. Right away from the container it looked off, wrong color and foamy and coagulated. I was hesitant to try it but i did. and they both tasted so off. I'm hoping i don't get sick. It was warm and tasted like it had been there for days. Besides that though everything else was fine. read more

Going downhill The place is dirty and needs to be cleaned up. The food was just ok for the price but.. cold coffee, dirty windows, cushions were creepy dirty, and the floor hadn't been cleaned. Well Panera on Gilroy just got worse. I said never again but my son loves the Mac and cheese so I gave it one more chance. Hard to believe but the portions are even smaller. There seems to be some recipe changes and not for the better. Also, they stopped delivering the food to your table. I don't mind picking up my food, but if you change a major function in an establishment , give a girl a heads up. Don't SHOUT come get your food number..blah blah blah. So after 20 min I went to look for food and was told they had shouted my number and my mobile device with said number they give "buzzed" to get the food, so it's my fault the food is cold. FYI my number didnt buzz. Maybe they can use those working buzzing numbers to relax some of the staff, so we can get better food and service. The food was more than cold. Not sure how soup gets ice cold in the middle and hot on the rim. After being reprimanded for not hearing the shouts or my number not buzzing, I thought it best to put our food in a togo container and not risk what may happen to my food if I asked for it to be warm. Nice job screwin.g up a elsewhere great place. read more

I generally love Panera! But I DESPISE this Gilroy location!! They have cut so many corners at this location. The thing that made me the most angry is the fact that they are the ONLY Panera that makes you pick up your own food. WHAT?!?! I used to come there with my family of 8 at least weekly, but no more. It's way too hard for me to keep running up, back and forth to the counter to grab everyone's food, while I've got little kids at the table. It's disappointing that they can't hire one additional employee to run food. That personal touch is one of my most favorite things about Panera. I could come in, order, then go sit down and relax. And they are literally the only Panera who does this. They also frequently run out of bread and pastries. And their staff doesn't make any effort to make you feel like a valued customer. If I want Panera, I will seriously drive to San Jose before I ever eat at the Gilroy location, which is like a ghost town anyway. That's no surprise. read more

I had a gift card & a digital gift car that were a couple of years old & couldn't find the pin for the digital one. The cashier was very pleasant & kept reassuring me it's ok for me to take my time. I didn't want to hold the line. The restaurant itself was pretty good overall. The food was fresh and satisfying, and the dining area was fairly clean, though there was some room for improvement in upkeep. The atmosphere was comfortable, making it a nice spot for a casual meal or a quick bite. From what I've personally observed, these women are working hard and giving their customers their full effort. If your restaurant is busy enough to have a constant flow of customers, it's busy enough to have enough staff! The solution shouldn't be expecting your waitresses to work harder it should be giving them the support they need. As an owner, instead of putting more pressure on employees who are already giving it their all, you need to step in, help more during the rush, or hire a host/busser. Sometimes the problem isn't that your employees aren't working hard enough it's that you're asking them to do the work of three people at once. I love supporting local businesses, and I think Pancakes and Toast has a lot going for it. The food is definitely worth coming back for, but I hope management takes a serious look at how these hard working women are being supported during peak hours.

I think this last food order will be my last... i kept going back after some time thinking it would be better ... but after eating food from here seven times in past five years. The cost of eating out is just too dear these days to keep hoping for something better from a place that has a proven record of only becoming worse.
