After taking only two sips, I realized I didn't like the drink at all. I politely let the employee know and asked if it could be removed from my bill. Instead of simply explaining their policy, she told me that I still had to pay for it, that I was "supposed to know what I like," and that I was being wasteful. I asked to speak with a manager, and she informed me that she was the manager. I explained that there was no way for me to know beforehand that I wouldn't like their green tea boba just because I normally enjoy green tea. At that point, her attitude and the way she spoke to me were unnecessarily rude. I remained calm throughout the interaction. I understand that a restaurant can have a policy against removing drinks from a bill, and I could have accepted a polite explanation of that policy. My issue is the way I was treated for simply asking. A manager could have handled this professionally without criticizing a customer or telling them what they should or shouldn't like. The situation ultimately escalated to me being told not to come back. What should have been a minor issue over one drink turned into an extremely unpleasant customer-service experience.
