I was going to order one of those mocha latte frappuccino chocolate iced coffee drinks so the cashier called her manager over to help her. I love Panera Bread! I went there a few days ago to get a Smokehouse turkey panini and ended up ordering two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for my children as well. Later that day, I went back to order some broccoli and cheese soup. I paid for my order with cash but the register would not open. The manager was called but he could not open it either. Needless to say, I was given my $20 bill back by the manager for any inconvenience I experienced and I thought, WOW what great customer service! I wasn't feeling good, but that certainly made my day! Panera in Etown is horrible. They are always slow and always talking bad about the costumers before. They never keep a clean space and the employees are rude to each other. I wish I could give this place a -1. I've heard from multiple friends that they get treated badly while they work there and the managers don't do anything about it!!!! They take forever to make the food and they are always loud either laughing or yelling at eachother. They say they have a "no jerks" policy but they never enforce it. Panera is a favorite of myself and family members because we see it as a healthy option. The ETown location is great to me because it has a drive thru. I have been there 3 times now and I have received fast and friendly service each time. The only issue is that each time they were out of something that I have attempted to order. Today I was told that the summer squash is no longer being sold although the menu is still advertising it. We have lived in Kentucky one year. We have been to this Panera about 10 times in one year. The food is always good however 10 out of 10 times that we have been to the establishment in Elizabethtown it is dirty. Let me explain dirty. Each time we've been literally, literally almost every table is dirty. There are food or crumbs, napkins, lemons on the floor and where you stack your dishes...smh every time it is overflowing. We were there yesterday around 1:30 pm. Probably 18 people total in there, lots of open tables (each one dirty, including ours so I wiped it off w my coat sleeve). Now, I understand rushes, I understand the business, you see I was a kitchen manager, service manager, assistant general manager for nearly 8 Years with a degree in Hospitality Management. I know you can get slammed. But you guys are seldom slammed when we arrive, usually between 1/2/3/ or 4. Each time, I'm not exaggerating, it is dirty like this each time. Management what are you doing? Manage your crew, set someone in the dining room consistently. Check your drink station which is a disaster too. Trash, never any lemons, ice overflowing. Your GM and Area Director need to sit down and help you guys develop a game plan for turning the cleanliness of your dining area around. I gave this a review a 2 star because the food is each time is great, but lord have mercy it scares the Jesus out of me if To think if I were able to go into your kitchen and see how your cooler shelves, safe food practices, labeling, walk in and walk in floor look. If your dining room says dirty, it leads to assumptions of your kitchen cleanliness. Panera, I love it, but if I come in one more time and see the place filthy again, I'm calling your Area Director. Inconsistent. During the week, we have had relatively good service. In the weekends, we have had terrible results. Today, the person taking the order seemed annoyed, and the breakfast sandwiches came out cold. The cheese was supposed to be melted but was cold and hard. Haven't been to Panera in a while. Was really looking forward to a nice breakfast with my partner. The girl at the register kept rushing us, wasn't personable, and was only able to confuse us on the rewards process. Once I had it figured out I was too frustrated to continue to deal with her and decided I would eat somewhere with better service but let my partner finish ordering & I walked out to wait in the car. My partner returns to the car visibly upset after about another 15 minutes with still no PASTRY (yes an item that is ALREADY ready to serve) she informed me the manager acted clueless to what she had even ordered when she inquired how much longer, and when she said finally just said never mind and left WITHOUT HER FOOD the girl who botched this entire visit for us WISHED HER A NICE DAY!!! (Clearly condescending) I walked back in to inform the manager that it had been about a year and this visit was ruined by this employee, to which he never apologized or offer to make right. Panera is one of the few places in town with a fairly large selection of salads in summer. Usually busy at lunchtime. Clean, fast and will personalize your order. Not high end food but tasty, fresh ingredients and healthy options as well as less healthy options. Several people in the group have favorites they routinely order. Upon entering this Panera, one ponders which sense is most offended. From the disheveled dining floor to the chaos and dish dropping in the kitchen taking place "behind" the scenes. After reluctantly ordering, I went to pick up my order at the second counter. My order was missing a few items (on a relatively slow night, mind you) and upon bringing this to the attention to the manager on duty, I was met with contempt as she grabbed a baguette with her hands and ripped off two pieces and tossed them on a plate unapologetically. Best customer service experience ever. I have never been to Panera Bread, I will be back. When I walked in and smelled the heavenly fresh baked bread and saw all the pastries and bread displayed, I just about died. The store was clean and cozy. I was greeted with a hello and a smile. I told the assistant that I had never been to PB and that's when things got exciting. She and another assistant helped me pick out the perfect combination for a nice and tasty lunch. Not expensive at all like Starbucks in Barns and Noble. I got a drink, soup, sandwich, and pastry for around $14. I felt like they had rolled out the red carpet just for me. read more
