This is one of those times I wish yelp would let me give a half star. Maybe my expectations were too high... the "comfort food" advertisement had me hopeful for the chicken and dumplings soup. It was fine, but a little bland. The beef vegetable soup was a better choice, with a tomato broth base and tender beef. This place is drive thru only but I believe they have a little patio they set up if you want to order & eat outside. They were very quick & really friendly at the window. When I ordered I asked for a half Turkey with lettuce, tomato, pickle & spicy mustard. They accidentally made another half & let me know they added it to the bag on the house. They even put a smiley face on the box so I thought that was really nice and generous of them. The Turkey was good quality & the toppings were really fresh. Pulled in here to get some lunch while I was on break from work today. I have had this on my list for a couple years now to try. So I was in the area and I said hey, let's give it a shot. So I got the chili and half a sandwich for $8.75. I opened up my ham and cheese sandwich first I got it with pickles, lettuce hot pepper, jack cheese, ham, and pickles and mayonnaise on wheat bread and it was fantastic. As someone who isn't the biggest fan of soup, I have never tried this place despite it being rather close to me. My boyfriend, however, loves it and often raves about it. He told me he wanted it today and that they have sandwiches as well if I wanted to try it, so I figured, why not? I got a BLT and it tastes very similar to how one would taste made at home, but it was very good nonetheless! The service was very kind as well. Soupy's is a hikes point community sandwich and soup shop in the city of Louisville Kentucky. After seeing this establishment for several years and curious what they have to offer I finally stopped in to check them out. We parked and I was walking towards the door and I can see a worker walk up to make sure the door was locked by aggressively yanking on. Kinda a rude way of informing someone it's drive thru only. However, I was here and didn't let that rudeness stop me from doing through the drive thru. We were the only ones there at the moment so we processed and got the order really quickly. I personally ordered whole ham sandwich and got a side of chili. My wife ordered a tuna salad sandwich with some chicken and dumplings. I will say they are fairly priced. Not too expensive by any means. We got our order and parked in the parking lot and ate in our cars. My wife chicken and dumplings was super watery. Said it had good flavor but way too much water. Her sandwich she said was just ok. Pretty standard run of the mill and she said "it's not like it's terrible but it's nothing I'll run back to try". My ham sandwich i felt the same way. Pretty standard. Not bad by any means. But it very much had the i stopped by the deli market and made a sack lunch sandwich for my kids school field trip vibe to it. The chili I enjoyed. Wasn't anything ground breaking but I do love the fact that they offer chili with or without noodles. Team noodles over here. For those who said if you add noodles it makes it spaghetti mu counter is always if you don't have noodles it's just tomato soup with meat. Today was a day made for soup, with the first real freezing temps and even some snow of the season. After searching for delivery of soup on Yelp, Soupy's was the first to pop up, and it was just what I needed. I ordered the Chicken N Dumplin's soup and bread pudding to be delivered (along with Bean with Ham Soup and garden salad for my mother-in-law). This came hot and secure in styrofoam containers. While I wish my soup had some more chicken in it, it contained ample big dumplings. The broth was very clear yet flavorful. The bread pudding was a fun surprise. This was a sweet lunch treat. This is my second time eating here in a week! Probably old to you but new to me (and now a local fave). Louisville just got its first snow of 2022 so what does that call for? A warm and hearty meal! My husband was heading home and told me he was stopping there and if I wanted something. I got the chili (no noodles) and a half chicken salad sandwich. I was quite surprised by how good the chili was! The chicken salad sandwich was also just as good! I was upset with myself for only getting a half sandwich instead of a whole but learned my lesson on the second visit. My husband got the chili and a whole corn beef sandwich. I offered him half my sandwich for half of his and he actually said sure to my surprise. The corn beef sandwich was very tasty! You can't say enough about soupy soups, we usually get vegetable beef, potato soup, and recently we've been getting chicken noodle, which is a little bit odd to me. So on this Saturday (you remember...when it was 70°?) I said "Wifey, I'm hungry" and she all-too-readily said "Get in the car and just drive". I love those times because they often lead to awesomeness. This particular "get in the car and drive" took us to Soupy's. I'd never heard of it before and she only knew about it because she drove by it earlier in the week. It's also not the easiest place to get to from J-Town coming up Taylorsville Rd, but not much stands between me and food when I'm hungry. It's a small place. A very small place, with a walk-in counter and a drive thru. There are three tables outside and no seating inside. The menu isn't extensive, but it covers the basics (soup, salad, sandwich) well. I was surprised to see four people working because it appeared to be such a small kitchen, but somehow they managed to not bump into each other. I found this impressive, because having worked in fast food in the past (ok, the LONG past) I couldn't stand to work efficiently without sufficient elbow room. These folks made it look easy. I had a soup/sandwich combo with the cheesy potato soup and the Benedictine & Bacon sandwich. My wife had the chicken dumpling soup and corned beef sandwich. Both were delivered in less than 5 minutes. Since it was 70° degrees outside (did I mention that before?) we opted to sit on one of the tables. I have to applaud their bagging skills, because the two cups of soup and sandwiches fit perfectly in that bag! The soups were hot and very tasty. The Benedictine & Bacon was good. REALLY good. The cucumber sauce was magical. (My only regret is that I only had the half sandwich. Should have opted for the full. I'll know next time.) One of the employees said that there used to be numerous locations, but that it was now down to only this one. I'm not going to lie to you and tell you this is glamorous food. It's not. It's good old lunch that you'd made at home, done fresh and fast. The roast beef sandwich was piled high and very good. And the soup was good (only needed a hint of salt). Listen this combo is $7.89. You get an entire sandwich and I paid an extra $.89 to upgrade from a cup to a bowl. The fact you can order it in a drive through is convenient too. In reality, this is a three-star type of joint. Good food at good prices. I'd driven by this place at least a hundred times, usually while trying to figure out how to extricate my myself from the Hell's Labyrinth of oddly angled, awkwardly intersecting streets that make up the area (fwiw, I still can't figure out how to legally enter the nearby Starbucks' parking lot). Anyhow, probably because I'd figured it would be impossible to find this place on purpose, I'd never tried it before now. I am remiss for that. For about $8.50 with tax, I got a full sandwich (turkey) and 12-oz soup (veg) that made for two small meals and was perfectly delicious. On those days I need a comfortable, climate-controlled place to sit and enjoy a soup-and-sandwich lunch, there's always Jason's or Panera. But if I want almost twice as much food for the same price, and am happy getting my food to go (or using the patio seating here), Soupy's is a nice addition to the rotation.
