This place is so cute inside and out. They offer authentic German cuisine and the wait staff are dressed in traditional clothing. It has a very homey feel . The prices are reasonable and the portion's are decent size. I had noodles with sausage ( not sure the name) my husband tried the schnitzel with a mushroom gravy served with noodles and a large German beer. We were both unable to finish our meal and took left overs home that were delicious the second time too. This is a fun place to go to when visiting French Lick, we'll be back.

Super cute inside! The service was good and friendly. Cute German employee outfits. I ordered the Polish Sausage with Spaetzel and it was great! Wasn't expecting the sausage to be so big. The spaetzel does not look great presentation-wise, but trust--it's good I promise you!!

This place is adorable. It's like you are sitting in someone's home for a wonderful dinner. We enjoyed the food. Service was on the slow side so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time.

We were here for lunch and had potato pancakes and one of their daily specials, a Polish sausage sandwich. the potato pancakes tasted homemade and were OK but the sausage was cut up into thin strips instead of being served intact like most sausages. Service was on the slow side. Decor was mixed. The place had a lot of seating but this day there were only 3 groups having lunch. Free parking. Good enough but nothing special. There were other German dishes on the menu but we just wanted a light lunch. Full bar.

We had a change of plan because we didn't realize our preferred restaurant was in a different town so we decided to stay in town and see what it had to offer. We had this place recommended by somebody at work. When we first entered on a Thursday night it was not that busy. The maître D/front of the house did not seem too friendly and it took a while for us to get seated. Our server on the other hand was super friendly and nice. We ended up, selecting the buffet option for two, which gave us a variety of different sausages, German sides, and potato/noodle dishes. I will preface my review, saying that I have never been to Germany before to eat authentic German food. I have tried other German restaurants in United States. I found the sausages to be above average. The pork schnitzel was OK. The meatball was super dry unfortunately. The German noodles tasted like gnocchi and it was not that good. The other sides were on par. I can't say that this is the best German meal I've ever had in comparison to other places I've been. I really wanted to give it a high rating however, the food is average, but the server was top notch.

    German Food. Platter for two

German Cafe is truly amazing! The food is always good each time we visit. The platter for 2 people is our took choice. Quiet place without the loud sounds.

Awesome food, great service, excellent atmosphere! Everything was absolutely amazing!

Mein Gott! This food was so good. We had everything in the form of the Grosse Platte. We lived in Germany for a few years and attest this was authentic. The server was attentive and sweet. The German fest music was hilarious. The decor is very homey. The servers are all great at explaining the menu to those who aren't familiar with German food. Highly recommend! Get a real German beer. Prost!

What a cute little German restaurant within walking distance of the French Lick Hotel! It feels like you're walking into someone's home. The kind waitress explained the menu to us, and my friend and I opted for the German platter for two. It was PLENTY of food, and it's a bummer we couldn't take it with us in to go boxes, because everything was delicious. Dining options are limited in the area, and I'd recommend checking this out. If you're staying at the Resort, the 24 hour trolley will bring you here, too.

The red cabbage was a miss for me. But the German fries were on point !

The pretzel bun was heated appropriately and had the right amount of flavor. The optional spicy mustard is really powerful. My only possible complaint would be that the spatzle were a bit on the soggy side, perhaps overcooked. That said, the spatzle also come with an incredible sauerbraten gravy. My only regret, really, is not having had dessert.

Atmosphere is fun, it really embraces the German decor (saw a review or too calling it kitschy, in a good way, which I think is a fair description). Service is friendly and attentive (and in the costumed German garb to keep with the themes). Lots of classic German dishes (several schnitzel varieties, brats, spatzel, etc.). I won't say anything I've had over the years blows me away, but haven't had a bad choice either. The Wiener schnitzel I had most recently was tender and tasty, with a perfectly fried batter, and the German fries were nicely crisped on the exterior and beautifully seasoned. Good beer selection (including some brewed for the restaurant), reasonable wine list...love that you can go all out and have your beer in the classic giant boot! Small gift shop as well, some souvenir items as well as some candies and food options.

There were 4 of us in our party and we were seated at a table in the corner near the bar. Was definitely a cozy spot with so many people being in there and the bar being full. I had The Holy Ghost cocktail and it was a pomegranate hibiscus sour, it had just the right amount of sour! I do not like bitter drinks and this one was good and easy to drink. My husband had a couple of dark beers, I do not remember which ones but he liked them. They had a nice outdoor area but it was a bit too cool for that but it may be worth a return in the Spring to check it out. Bathroom was also really cool as the decor and theme spilled over into it. He said their pizza was really good and we could get a 16" unlimited topping pizza with breadsticks for $31. Let me tell you, his recommendation was absolutely incredible. The pizza came out hot fresh more toppings than you could ask for and the breadsticks were just as good! This pizza for sure is one of the top five best pizzas I have had at a restaurant.
