I visit this Panera often because it is my favorite UAB restaurant to spend my dragon cash. On this occasion, I ordered a whole roasted turkey and avocado BLT with chips. The cost was $12.19 plus tax, which brought the total to $13.41. Although the price is a little high for a sandwich and chips, I will say it was worth it. The only other Panera I have visited is the one by my house, and they do not give you as much turkey and avocado as the UAB location, but the price is the same. Because of this, I am not upset about the price. After placed my order, I waited for around 6 or 7 minutes before receiving my food. It was a little busy at this time, so I do not think that it was a long wait time. There are no COVID precautions. Using the rapid pickup would be a good option to get in and out quickly, but you cannot use dragon cash or dining dollars when you order online.

Since Panera has temporarily stopped serving soup, I haven't really been dining there, but the roasted turkey and avocado blt I ordered with no avocado wasn't particularly tasty. The food is generally alright on campus, but it's truly at its best when the manager is around.

For me to not eat on campus very much, I decided to give panera a try today. I originally came for the chicken and wild rice soup and disappointed to find out they sold out after waiting in line for about 20 minutes to order. So I stuck with a pick 2 or the chicken noodle soup and ceased salad instead. Food was okay, I've had better from different panera locations. Covid precautions here do not exist based on how tight and cramped everybody was waiting to order or pick up their food. I was able to get my food faster then how I ordered but if you're looking for something quick, panera may not be the best spot.

This Panera bread has definitely made a 360 improvement. Amazing what being open for over a year now in this location has done for their establishment. They have now become one of my go to breakfast places and a great place for pastries/baked goods. From employees not knowing what I'm talking about when I'm ordering to now almost always having my orders correct and waiting for me when I use the rapid pick up feature. I'd been having a few great visits in a row where my items waiting for me, but today I ordered a kitchen sink cookie (the best cookie ever) about an hour before close. When I got there, I was told they ran out. Yep...it's that good. I was told some of their bakery items run out closer to the end of the day. Makes sense since they probably don't bake more than one batch a day. Sometimes the app will tell you when an item is out of stock, but I've had two times now where it didn't and I had to choose an alternate dessert since I already paid for it on my app. So I got not one but TWO cheese Brittany's to enjoy after the workers were so sorry I couldn't get my first choice. They were super nice, and I would recommend going earlier in the day to get the pastries you want! I was told some of their bakery items run out closer to the end of the day. Makes sense since they probably don't bake more than one batch a day whereas a sandwich or salad they can make pretty much any time on the spot.

Poor customer service with rude staff. They should spend more time working and getting orders out instead of gossiping like children.

My friend ordered the chicken kabob entree but the man quickly told us it would be a 20 minute wait. I appreciated that he let us know since we were on a hour lunch break. He did recommend the lunch special alternative which she went with. I got the mushroom and Swiss burger. I absolutely loved the patio area. It's actually the only seated dining option since the inside is only big enough for ordering. Our food came out pipping hot which was nice! The burger and fries are a great portion for the price. I was a little disappointed that there was mustard on my burger. However that's my fault! It's clearly on the menu I just didn't pay close enough attention. I'm a huge mustard hater so that threw me off. The fries looked delicious but they were just a tad undercooked for my liking. Definitely not raw, just not cooked long enough. My friend enjoyed her food for the most part but it was nothing to rave about.

I used to frequent a bakery that was on this strip but I never saw this quaint little deli. The staff was pleasant as we looked over the menu. I ordered the chicken kebabs and my friend ordered the Philly with fries. Later he added a plain cheeseburger just to try it. He said his Philly didn't have much meat and he didn't care for the wrap. He thought it was going to be a traditional sandwich. However, my chicken kebab meal was flavorful and delicious. I didn't like the salad dressing that came on the salad, but that's just my particular preference. Everything was very fresh and was enough for two meals. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor seating on this nice Fall afternoon. We had differences of opinion on the burger. I thought it had a great taste-seasoned well, and fresh. My friend wasn't impressed and mentioned that it came out too fast to have been made fresh. I would love to go back and order one with all the trimmings to get a more accurate account as to how to rate it. I will definitely return to try more menu items.

While none of them have tasted quite as good since then (something about working up an appetite on the beach?), we still really enjoy a rare opportunity to eat at one. I knew we would be ready for lunch after a morning at a local museum, so I had researched possible venues earlier that morning. I showed my wife a short list and she immediately gravitated to Roly Poly. That would have been my first choice too. This one (the last one remaining in Birmingham, apparently) is in the Homewood neighborhood / area. It is located on a busy street with shops and plazas lining both sides. These look like they were built no later than 1950 but have evolved and been renovated as new tenants cycled through. We did angled parking on the street out front, but there may be better / easier parking on surrounding side streets. The only issue we had was backing out into traffic when we left; it took a few minutes for a gap. You enter and order at the counter. They have menus available there for you to check out. They have a rack of chips available, plus maybe other sides? I didn't look beyond the chips. You then sit down and wait for your order. I guess they have call-ahead too. Seating is along the wall to the right as you enter. There is a long bench the length of the wall with separate 4-person tables spaced along it, with 2 additional chairs each. Our order seemed to take a while, but it may have just been what we ordered (hot sandwich) versus other simpler orders getting filled faster. I got the French Twist, which is my favorite. I only got a regular and not a large, but I think I could have finished a large. My wife got something else, chicken-based I think. We both enjoyed this a lot. If I lived in the area, I'd probably stop in here semi-regularly.
