PROS: this place was very low key and not like a dancing bar like it's neighbors. I was able to hear the other person I was speaking to. Good and drinks were good while the staff was extremely nice. Atmosphere looks like I'm in a jungle CONS: there's no TVs by the bar which is essential for any bar to have OVERALL: as long as you're not coming here to watch sports or dance you'll be good read more

Service was very good. Host was very welcoming and pleasant. I'd say something is up with the lights insight. While place is nicely decorated it is way too bright. My eyes were hurting after dining facing the lighted sign on the review pic. It will feel like 100% upgrade if they figure out nicer lights. First time at Panela last night and I already cannot wait to come back! Let's start the the vibe; it's honestly so beautiful inside, super clean, and just makes me want to get up and dance with the Latin music The food and drinks were the stars of the show. We attended for one of their events, the Makers Mark Tasting which had a prefix menu but everything I had was delicious. The guacamole is super fresh, love that it comes with plantain chips. The best thing I had last night was their short rib; melt in the mouth deliciousness. I had the de la Tierra for a drink and it was so yummy! The mezcal with the smokiness was such a great flavor combo and it comes in a little Vic's Vapo container! It's too cute to pass up All of the staff there was so wonderful, polite and attentive. Booked Panela for a birthday dinner in January. Took a few days to get ahold of them. Finally the day before the date I wanted to have my birthday dinner with some family and friends, someone answered and I was able to reserve a table for 10 and put down a deposit. The day of, everything started out amazing.. I was greeted right away and seated to my table. I unfortunately forgot the name of woman who would be our server for the night but she was really nice. She said happy birthday to me and personally served me drinks for the night; rather than me going up to the bar. The ambiance is lovely, very "instagram-able". Loved the hanging florals, mirrors and dimmed lights. Also loved the "suga suga how you get so fly" neon sign. Music was great, they played some great Spanish hits, that took me back to some family holiday parties LOL Since I reserved for a party if 10, we had to pick one of the prefixed menus given to us (75 per person). The food overall tasted amazing (I was so caught up I didn't take any photos of the food), but some of the portion sizes of the appetizers were small.. even though it said "served family style" on the prefixed menu. After we finished eating our main dish, we sat there for a few talking, laughing, taking some pictures and finishing up our drinks. That's when our server came and gave us the check. My boyfriend had to ask them when we are getting the dessert since it's part of the prefix menu. She asked us if we wanted it now or to go; of course we want to eat it now, so we asked for it now. I'm guessing they didn't have the Bunuelos, as we were served a regular cake with fruits on top. I was a little bummed I didn't get the "happy birthday" song, even though the party next had the employees sing happy birthday about an hour or so before. But my group made sure I felt the birthday love. Overall nice place. Would like to come back with a smaller group or just me and my boyfriend to avoid all the extra stuff. Friend had recommended Panela and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. We had only went for drinks and apps but everything was really good. The chicken nachos were a highlight and probably the best app we had. We got mango margaritas and they were very tasty as well. The only thing was that service could have been a little better. Yes we were taking our time because we were not in a rush however it was not fairly busy and took a while to get check. The inside was decorated very nicely. Good spot for a girls night. Came in for dinner. Ordered the chicharron platter as an appetizer. Overall it wasn't bad. The chicharron was crunchy but soft as well. The avocado spread was great, the red sauce it also came was good. The yuca had 0 flavor unfortunately. Ordered the chaufa rice and an order of tostones with meat. Both were pretty good. The one major downside to the place was the service. We were rushed to order, didn't even give a glass of water until we requested it, mind you every table had a bottle of water with no problem, the waitress was a bit rude overall. The restaurant decor is super cute for a date night. I went for brunch and had the mango shrimp tostadas and they were really good. It also came with an arugula salad with pickled onions quinoa cucumbers and tomatoes which I enjoyed and of course unlimited Bellinis or mimosas. I was looking forward to visiting Panela since I have been following them for a while. Drove up from Philly on Father's Day to treat my BF. Service staff was friendly and accommodating. Great ambience and nice looking place. We ordered table shareables to start off ... octopus was a little over cooked / tough to chew. Not much flavor. The olive salad at the bottom was the best part. We also ordered the seasonal empanadas which were just beef. I ordered the skirt steak lomo medium and it came out WELL WELL done .. so it was tough and dry didn't feel like sending it back since we had already sent back a drink.it Needed a sauce desperately. My niece ordered the half chicken tacu tacu ..which was a piece of chicken breast with yellow rice . We ask for the salsa verde on the side and we had to ask for it again. Chicken was bland/ flavorless. BF ordered churrasco he enjoyed his steak at least didn't like the side of beans We ordered drinks two weren't good. Pina colada was a mix and it tasted like pineapple juice and sent back. We also got ALL our food at once ... everything which didn't make sense. Appetizer and meals. Didn't bother with dessert at this point. Wasn't impressed not sure if I would recommend 4/10 for my experience. read more

Great service! All of our servers were amazing! I am a foodie and i have to say Food was not as great as in pictures! Presentation was much better than taste. Drinks were ok, we had a full never ending menu of things and i was not impressed! The octopus was fishy, the ceviche didnt have enough lemon or salt. The spare rib with the mashed was missing sauce. The shrimp and spaghetti was doable. The doughnut holes were just so mediocre. $819 later and i was very unsatisfied. We were 7 adults. Not worth it. Aesthetically pleasing. But the food wasn't even that great. I think it's a spot for appetizers and drink but def not dinner spot. When we sat down we were given a plate of guacamole and chips and we thought it was complementary but later (20 min later) the waitress asked if we ordered that and turns out it was for the wrong table. So she asked us to pay for it and we were absolutely not as we had no idea it came as we were sitting. Other than encounter everything else was fine. Would I go again? Probably not read more

Popped into Panela for a quick bite and a drink with a friend. They had live music which was cool. The decor is pretty dope and inviting. I sat at the bar and there were two bartenders .. maybe three. The guy bartender saw me sit down and made eye contact and never came to give me a menu or anything. Someone finally came after a while and gave me a menu. My friend had gotten there before me and finished his drink a while ago and no one came to ask if he wanted anything else. Finally we ordered drinks and I ordered the Pinchos appetizer. Got the margarita which was underwhelming. My friend got the seasonal empanada which was just a beef empanada. After waiting a really long time ... my friend and I needed to leave and still no Pinchos. Come to find out the bartender never put the order in so I was waiting for nothing. Overall the customer service was poor. The place was bustling but there was no wait for a table and it wasn't all that packed. The guy bartender who was positioned closer to us, never acknowledged us, never asked if we wanted a refill, no one gave water to us. It seemed like they couldn't handle the drink tickets coming in and the people sitting at the bar. I know the place is new so I may give them 6 months and come back to see what's up because I was excited to try some Food. Maybe next time. read more

I have not one bad thing to say. The food was really good- better than I expected to be honest as we came here more for the vibes. Our waitress was really sweet and answered all of our questions.
