Great great local fare. This is, in many ways, the quintessential tuscan resto. Classic food, done Just Right, with excellent ingredients, and a deep attention to service. Yes you can get a bistecca fiorentina here - as with most places in Firenze - but you'd be wrong to avoid it (it's genuinely amazeballs!). That said, the pastas are incredible, the wine-list is extraordinary, and the staff is friendly to a fault, endlessly willing to help. Best of all, if you are in a large group, they'll happily serve you family style (take advantage of it!) If you're in the 'hood, go!

The food was amazing and the service was excellent. The place has a homey and cozy feel to it. I feel like I am apart of the family here and they treated me like one of their own by giving us free limoncello and making dishes to our preference. The tiramisu and blueberry cheesecake were the best I've ever had.

The concierge at the Exceslior hotel suggested Pandemonio and it did NOT disappoint. I guess we've lived under a rock all these years because we weren't previously familiar with "Florentine Steak". But when the waiter suggested it, we decided to try it and OH MY was it fantastic!! Seriously, one of the best steaks any of us had ever had. They bring your chosen amount (purchased by weight) before it's cooked to whet your appetite. It works... We also had some pasta side dishes which were delicious but it's the steak that we're still talking about 2 years later. It's well worth walking down some side streets after dark (like we did) to try this place!

This is a very popular local and tourist eatery across the city of Florence. You would need to reserve in advance for this one. A day or two before. The southern region of this city is known for its great restaurants. Their specialty however is the meat which is quite a handful and expensive. Ours came to almost 69 Euro dollars. The home made risotto of three cheeses and the home made Tiramisu was to die for. Very very good. On this night, there was a local wedding reception which gave the restaurant a nice cool vibe of live singing and celebration. What to know: water and bread like in all restaurants in Italy are extra and not free like we are used to in North America. Also there is a mandatory foreign tourist tax included in your bill. $$$ in Euro!

We were seated in a cute little outdoor area, but unfortunately we must have been in Florence during bug season (early June). I emerged from my meal with a few new bites, so if you don't want to be bitten (and you want to take advantage of their free WiFi), ask to sit inside. The bistecca fiorentina here was incredible and looked so much better than others we saw while walking past restaurants in Florence. We had a steak that weighed just under 1 kilo, the chicken liver pate, and fried zucchini. They bring you the steak to examine before the grill it, which is cool. The pate was nothing special, but the fried zucchini was fried to perfection. We closed the meal with some of their homemade limoncello on the house.

THIS is the place to get Florentine steak in Florence!! Dinner at Tattoria Pandemonio is a dinner i will remember for a long time! Ate dinner on a Tuesday evening at 8:30. I would recommend a reservation. We ate inside as it was a little chilly outside. The ambiance is very nice - intimate and candle lit. We ordered a 1 kilo steak with a side of potatoes and a half liter of house wine. The true star of this restaurant is the steak. HOLY COW. Served perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was beautiful, I really haven't stopped thinking about this steak. The potatoes were also very flavorful seasoned with rosemary. By the end of the dinner we were stuffed. The dinner ended with homemade limoncello. Total bill was around 68 euro, very affordable considering the quality. I can not recommend this restaurant enough! If you are looking for a place to eat steak in Florence, this is your place.

Pandemonio is a family run elegant Tuscan Trattoria located in the neighbourhood where the Pitti Palace is located. It's a perfect venue for lunch after touring the palace. This is off the path a bit and you will not find tourists here. We had the Tuscan bean and Tuna appetizer, rigatoni with meat sauce (Mama, the owner's special recipe) and spaghetti batarga. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is special. We had the pleasure of having lunch at the same time as the family and we met Mama's grandson Lorenzo, who is filled with energy and very engaging. It was a very special afternoon. Highly recommended.

It's close enough to the lively, bustling part of Firenze to feel connected, yet just far enough to escape the city's never-ending wave of tourists. The service was incredible, and the owner (I'm pretty sure it was the owner?) brought so much energy that he single-handedly turned the whole place into an eclectic little spot during the "rush hour" of the evening. The menu was solid, if a bit "generic" at times. While everything we ordered was delicious, nothing at Trattoria Giovanni felt like a dish you couldn't find elsewhere... and honestly, that's perfectly fine! It was traditional, comforting, and exactly what we were craving. The plate of cured meats and cheese was phenomenal, a great start to the meal. The pastas were really good as well, though one of the meat dishes had a slightly off texture, with the chunks of meat a bit overcooked. All in all, we loved our meal and would definitely recommend this spot if you're in Florence.

The atmosphere alone is worth a visit, but the food is what truly makes it exceptional. We ordered the ravioli, pappardelle with wild boar ragù, the Florentine steak, a mixed salad, affogato, and fresh strawberries with mascarpone cream. To drink, we shared a small carafe of red wine and a Pinot Grigio. Everything was spectacular. The Florentine steak was easily the best--and largest--I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and remarkably tender, it was the highlight of an already outstanding meal. The pappardelle with boar ragù was rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying, while the ravioli was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Every dish felt authentic, carefully executed, and memorable. The wine was another pleasant surprise. Both selections were excellent and very reasonably priced, making the meal feel like an even better value. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. He patiently answered questions, explained the menu, and guided us toward some fantastic choices. Although we thought we were too full for dessert, we're very glad we changed our minds. The affogato was fantastic, and the strawberries with mascarpone cream were absolutely delicious. One of the highlights of the evening was watching our four-year-old happily clutching two spoons and enthusiastically scooping fresh strawberries and mascarpone into his mouth. It was one of those memorable family travel moments that you don't forget. A terrific meal, a unique historic setting, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. This was one of our favorite dining experiences in Florence, and I highly recommend it.

The whole place felt like a low-end lunch diner -- not a charming Florentine restaurant. They were blasting Highway to the Danger Zone and I Wanna Dance with Somebody while the main restaurant -- the one I thought I had booked -- played soft Italian music that actually fit the fine dining experience. The contrast was insulting. I was dressed in an upscale outfit appropriate for a refined dinner, yet I was treated as though I didn't belong. It felt discriminatory and dismissive. To make matters worse, at the end they tried to pressure me into tipping on the card machine -- in Italy, where tipping isn't even customary. The entire experience felt like a bait-and-switch, and I left feeling disrespected, singled out, and completely disappointed.

The vibe itself is cool (automatic door walking in, dungeon-like walls with cute decorations). Walking to your table you walk by a huge wine selection, which can be overwhelming. We started with the asparagus and peas salad. This was pretty solid, simple but it worked. We grabbed the spaghetti with the cream of asparagus-normally wouldn't order so much asparagus but this was the pasta that sounded the most interesting to us and we did ultimately end up enjoying the sauce quite a bit and it was one of the better pasta dishes we had in Italy. Got a side of the white beans which we probably didn't need but didn't mind. The steak: first of all it's very sizable. The Florentine way is rarer than I would ever order a steak and while I'm glad I tried it, I probably wouldn't choose it again. It's an interesting ordering process as you're essentially given the sizes they have left there for the night so you never know walking exactly how much you'll pay. I do appreciate that they cut it for you but I did feel like some of the meat was still on the bone (not that we really needed MORE meat I just didn't want to waste any). The flavoring is pretty good but there are definitely bites that are better than the others. The service was a bit mixed. There were times they were interested in talking with us while others they didn't seem so interested and a bit aloof. This was especially true when we went to check out. Ultimately, served its purpose in introducing us to a style of steak we hadn't had before and did so in a way that we enjoyed.
