We found Trattoria Za Za, but could not get reservations. We showed up with 60 people waiting in line like us. The line moved quickly and we were seated in a glass enclosure with nice views. The menu is vast and the food flying out of the kitchen looked amazing. An appetizer of lightly battered squash blossoms was unique and enjoyed by all. Our first choice was the green peppercorns and Cognac cream covering a steak with rosemary potatoes. This was the best dishes of our 17 day excursion. The steak was perfect while the sauce was incredibly delicious. The steak with argula salad was our second choice. It was also savory and highly recommended. The setting here is great, amazing food, good value and a truly relaxed environment. If you are in Florence, please treat yourself to a fine meal at Trattoria Za Za for that special evening. To the establishment, great restaurant and we will return. Congrats on a beautiful evening.

Creamy and spicy, only if you mix in the hot parts. They come to table and weigh the meat in front of you so you know what you're paying for. It is cooked rare or medium rare. This is NOT like steakhouses in NYC. In its own category. It was presented with melting bone marrow, sea salt and cut off the bone. Extremely flavorful and tender. My only issue is that the fat doesn't render and there was silverskin in some pieces making it inedible, plus you've paid for this by weight. Great attentive service by Nick

Fabrizio, the same server who took care of me in 2017, asked, "Are you sure you want two dinners?" I told him, "Yes! I want to try them both." Fast-forward to 2026: I walked back in two days ago, reminded Fabrizio of our conversation, and told him I was ordering both again. He immediately started laughing. Some things never change! My boyfriend ordered the pappardelle and instantly fell in love with it. We also shared a delicious cheese and meat platter and, of course, finished with Tiramisu. Nearly 10 years later, Pensavo Peggio still holds a special place in my heart. Highly recommend this cute little spot! The service and food didn't even compare to this place. We spent a lot more money for rubbery and fatty steak. They also tried to overcharge us. So, do yourself a favor and try La Cantinetta Osteria con Cucina. You won't be disappointed! If we ever go back to Firenze, we would go back to this restaurant in a heartbeat.

If we were in a restaurant in American, where we are from, we'd have asked for something else as substitute. I had a risotto dish that was good enough, but the wine pour could have been better. If you come to this place, you may like it enough, based on other reviews, but definitely don't order their atrocious lasagna. Grocery store lasagna is better.

I was advised to show up on time - even a 2 minute delay would make me miss my reservation. I can see why Trattoria Mario was strict on reservations. They open on the dot, and then a staff member calls out each reservation at 7:30pm like a roll call. Seemed to me that if you don't have a reservation then you're out of luck, because there was no waitlist and the restaurant small and space was limited. Service was great. Our waitress was highly attentive and got us in/out of the restaurant quickly, which was what we were going for. Food came out in a timely manner. We ordered the penne al ragu, salad misto, and a Florentine steak to share. The penne was perfectly al dente, and I liked the meat sauce. I did find the pasta sauce salty, but it could've came from the grated parmesan. The saltiness was not a fluke. The Florentine steak was just pure beef and a ton of salt... too much salt for my liking. I also decided that I'm not a fan of Florentine steak in general.

Soldano Kunz d'Asburgo Lorena, from the Habsburg-Lorraine family behind La Giostra, is quite a personality. He moves around the restaurant greeting guests and has the presence of a rock star -- he really adds to the experience. We eat at a lot of restaurants in Florence, and La Giostra was a memorable one. Beautiful setting, excellent food, great cocktails and a wonderfully lively atmosphere. We will absolutely return. Highly recommended!

Four large pieces served steaming hot. The spinach and cheese filling was so good. All of the ingredients went so well together. Our entree was the beef fillet with little tuffs of potatoes. It was so beautifully presented with cinnamon sauce draping the meat. You could cut the beef with a butter knife as it was so tender. Cooked perfectly to our request. Finally, since we loved everything, we had to have dessert. We chose a puff pastry with custard dessert. Perfect ending to an outstanding meal. Cudos to our servers as well as they were attentive and made us feel like we were the only people in the restaurant. One of our top stops in Italy!

As always, I requested hot water and still water from the bottle. Here was my running list of dishes: Beignet, vegetables Mozzarella fried tuscany bread, caviar Tuna as tender as chicken Oyster on green pasta, on top of pork Cheese selection At this point, my bowels had been gurgling since a few dishes into the meal and by the time the cheese cart came around 2.5 hours into the meal, my bowels exploded in a violent episode in Pinchiorri's restaurant. I stayed in the restaurant bathroom so long that someone came and knocked on the door to check on me. I completed the meal and went back to my hotel to spend the night running to the toilet every 30 minutes to diarrhea violently. I spent the next few days vomiting and diarrheaing, and soldiering on with my planned trip, but despite kindly notifying Pinchiorri of my situation so they could look into their exisiting protocol to make sure no future guests got sick, they denied all responsibility. Truly disappointing behavior for a 3 star Michelin, and by far the least impressive of the multiple Michelins I toured on this trip. Ironically, I had just been at La Pergola a 3 star in Rome the night before, and there was no comparison. The service and food at La Pergola (the real 3 star) puts Enoteca Pinchiorri to shame, outing Enoteca as a dupe.

The service was also excellent, and we felt our servers presentation and explanations were perfect. The atmosphere was good, but we wouldn't consider it a selling point, again, given the price point. In fairness, I didn't wear the sports coat, so maybe we got penalized in our table placement. It's hard to describe in exact terms, but something in the optional additions to the tasting menu (introductory champagne offerings, the wine pairings, the cheese tasting...the water menu) felt somewhat contrived to pressure for the extra spend. Maybe that's just the extra attention that comes along with an experience like this, so we're not inclined to read too much into it. Ultimately we turned away what didn't interest us, but we didn't feel that the two €15 bottles of sparkling water were more delightful than a stock offering. The reason we're disinclined to give the experience 5 stars can be summarized by the fact that, when we booked the reservation, the form asked about dietary restrictions, and we noted that one of us does not eat meat. We ordered both tasting menus, one vegan and one non-vegan. But the amuse-bouche they brought out was the same for both of us...and included pig? That's just not knocking it out of the park for a restaurant like this. We still had a wonderful evening, and we were very happy with both tasting menus, but it's hard to give 5 stars if you leave a €300+ per-person meal with any quibbles.
