Good-- they had a lot of freedom and choices. Very unstructured, which can be liberating…read more Counselors are very kind and engaging. Caters to different personalities and interests. Bad--they were short staffed. My daughter was looking forward to sewing and baking, but for like 2 weeks it wasn't avaliable. This camp is expensive, so no bueno. Also, last day of camp, they called me as I was on the way to pick the kids up. I thought they were calling because it was exactly 6, and I was late, and it was the very last day of camp. The camp counselor says "your son is bleeding a lot out of his nose, it's A LOT of blood" I rushed in. They tell me another kid punched him in the face, but they don't know what happened. They asked who was watching the kids? They said they were too busy, so don't know what happened. The camp counselor said they were understaffed, that they had been "asking for more staff like the other camps have", and that she was going to write a complaint about it. I asked her to send me an incident report via email. This counselor also said "we'll be here tomorrrow (Saturday) cleaning up and will send the incident report. She never sent it to me. It's funny because before the kids did this camp, I saw a review from a mom saying something about the kids being unsupervised, and her kid got hurt, but I thought maybe this mom was overreacting. Now I see what she is saying. Would I send them again? Yes, because they really loved it. The counselors are nice, but they need proper support and the kids can be free, but should still be supervised. I would probably drive a little extra and take them to one that is staffed better.

We love the daily reports! The security protocols provide an effective defense-in-depth strategy that I think adds significant peace of mind. The children are safe, secure and well taught. Discipline is effective and consistent with a focus on positive reinforcement and good decision making. Accidents/incidents are communicated rapidly and the staff are very attentive to the health and well being of our children. The facility is clean and sanitized with the attention of detail that has resulted in the best environment for our children. The food options are excellent and provide a balanced meal to keep our little ones fed and nourished. Issues or concerns that were communicated by myself to the staff were respectfully discussed and addressed in a timely manner. The events and activities that are sponsored by the academy are great team building opportunities for the parents and staff. Additionally, they provide a strong foundational marker for the children to observe the parents being a part of their educational journey. Highly recommended!

This is an amazing camp! My two children have been attending for years and it just grows with them…read more They started out with the littles and have since been "promoted" to the bigger kid groups. They spend their days outdoors, exploring nature, and doing all sorts of amazing activities. Bonfires, tubing, swimming hole, fishing, zip lining, you name it! And even horseback riding now, too. The staff are wonderful and attentive - getting to know all of the children (not just the ones assigned to their groups). This camp is the perfect contrast to a school year spent indoors at a desk - get out into nature and explore!

Our campers also get to enjoy swimming, soccer, hiking trails, canoeing, an archery range, and art programs, which are all part of the fun on our campus. I have been to 2 courses here in Rockville, and one in DC; the classes are well laid-out and useful…read more(if well-chosen), and the instructors are all clear and helpful. (They do exactly follow the course book, so there's nothing too innovative here.) Okay, now on to the important stuff. Breakfast is bagels and cream cheese (veggie/plain), and muffins and such. They have one of those coffee machines where you can choose one of any kind of pouch of coffee (similar to a Keurig?) so that's fun. The lobby area is spacious and clean, with plenty of snacks and drinks at all times. The best part is the mid-afternoon dessert, which is always delicious. The lunch selection in the area is decent, highlighted by Noodles and Co. and Potbelly. Overall, I prefer it to the DC location, despite the long metro ride. The location is convenient enough, just a few minutes from the Rockville Station. The only negative is that the Internet is blocked at this location. They say it's for security reasons, and that's bull. If I want to be on gChat during the class or check my email, I should be able to.

Took a class here and was really impressed…read more The instructor was great - if I could complain at all, it would be that he went off on too many related and unrelated tangents and didn't finish the entirety of the book for the course. He also wanted to "do us a favor" and let us out early (4-4:30) but I say hey, if I'm paying $500-$1000 for a class, I want to get my money's worth... even if my company is paying for it. Great to meet a bunch of different professionals throughout the training, as well. The facilities are extremely professional, sleek, and clean. They provide light refreshments, such as bagels, snacks, coffee, which is a nice touch. I would recommend, if you're coming from out of town, to vet their recommended hotels a bit yourself because I was unsatisfied with mine and it was on their recommended list.
