We couldn't be happier with the program overall!…read more We have three kids: one has graduated out of Family Academy, and two are still attending. We started our oldest at home with a nanny, but moved him to Family Academy when he was three. We started our second at Family Academy then, too (he was 10m). Our third baby started at Family Academy when he was 5m. So between them, we have worked through all of the classrooms. We have been thrilled with Family Academy and, even though our nanny was fantastic, I don't doubt for a second that our boys (and us parents) were better off with them in the program. The teachers at Family Academy are incredibly nurturing, patient, and communicative, and the student body itself has been great and diverse, too. The teachers helped us navigate many issues, as first time parents, in a way that was child-first and also encouraging for us. This spanned everything from wondering if our kids were hitting speech milestones, to navigating potty training woes, and inevitable illnesses. We've found Ms. Rima and all the teachers to be great allies, understanding, and helpful. The boys are also constantly doing arts and crafts (even when we would've thought they were otherwise too young) and the Montessori classroom has been wonderful, too. No doubt our oldest was beyond kindergarten ready when the time came! I really only have one less than perfect score to give and, even then, it has been absolutely fine. I don't love that there's no field or big open area. I used to worry that our boys would feel cooped up. But I've seen over the years that they're all perfectly happy and fine with the schoolyard set up. So this was me worrying about something, but it hasn't been a problem. 10/10 I recommend Family Academy to everyone in our orbit!

I give my highest and most heartfelt recommendation to the Family Academy of Bethesda. My son has…read morebeen here since he was just three months old and stayed until almost three years old, when unfortunately we had to move away due to work relocation. If it weren't for that, we would have loved for him to stay here as long as possible. It's hard to put into words how incredible this place has been for our family. From the days when he could barely lift his head, to learning to walk, talk, sing, and share stories about his day, we've watched him grow into a happy, curious, and confident little boy--all thanks to the loving care and nurturing environment of Family Academy. He not only learned language and knowledge, but also good manners and a true love of learning. The teachers are absolutely amazing--kind, patient, and so easy to communicate with. My son is a slow and picky eater, yet they always gave him extra time and gentle encouragement. They care for each child as if they were their own. The administration team is just as wonderful; they know every child by name and engage with them warmly every single day. What makes Family Academy so special is not only the quality of education but the genuine love and attention they give to every child. The environment encourages exploration, creativity, and curiosity about everything in the world. I could see every day how happy my son was here.I am deeply grateful for everything the Family Academy has given to our son and to our family. This school is truly a treasure in the community, and I would recommend it wholeheartedly to any parent.

We recently moved our twin toddlers to the MCCA Kensington-Forest Glen location. I'm pretty certain…read morethe outdoor playground sold it for us on first sight- huge, tree-shaded, much to do, and far more organic than others we have seen. :) We also feel strongly about supporting non-profit childcare, were impressed with the care and dedication of the staff, believed the cost was competitive for this area, and were thrilled with the breakfast and hot lunches provided through the Good Food Catering company. Our children have had a seamless adjustment with the assistance of warm, loving teachers truly interested in their growth and development. They have made diverse friends and enjoy attending school each day. I am not a parent who feels deeply about any particular "curriculums" for young children except play, exploration, love, and more play, particularly outside, so I will simply say that our children return home every evening refreshed and happy from an active day, and with surprising knowledge of things I had no clue about in nursery school. I couldn't recommend MCCA K/FG more- we are grateful to have found it, even more grateful that they had two spaces open up from their waitlist for our children, and look forward to their continued advancement here. Thank you, MCCA!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Kiddie Academy. My biggest concern is that I do…read morenot feel the safety, well-being, and emotional needs of the children are being treated as the top priority. I have personally witnessed situations that made me very uncomfortable, including teachers using very loud voices with children, yelling or screaming when they are upset, and physically pulling or dragging children toward the floor. As a parent, seeing children handled this way is deeply concerning and not the kind of environment I expect for my child. I have also been disappointed with the management. Instead of feeling that my concerns were being taken seriously and addressed with the focus on the children, I often felt that financial matters and payments received more attention. That has made me question whether the children's best interests are truly being prioritized. Another serious concern is how some parents are treated. I have felt that parents are not always treated equally or with the same level of respect. I have personally felt uncomfortable with what appeared to be different treatment based on race or skin color, and I believe every family deserves to be treated fairly and respectfully. Parents trust a daycare with their most precious responsibility--their children. That trust requires safety, respectful treatment, transparency, and accountability. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage parents to ask questions, observe how teachers interact with children, and pay close attention to how management responds when concerns are raised before making a decision about enrolling their child.

It has been wonderful to see her progress she is already beginning to recognize letters and numbers, which makes us very proud. She speaks highly of her teachers and enjoys spending time with her classmates. The school director, Koshila, is very professional, supportive, and clearly dedicated to maintaining a high standard for the school. All the staff members are kind, helpful, and genuinely seem to love what they do. I especially appreciate the regular communication from the school. I receive emails and photos that keep me updated on my daughter's daily activities, which gives me great peace of mind. I had heard many positive things about this kindergarten from friends, but now I have experienced it myself and can confidently say it is very well organized and nurturing. I highly recommend Kiddie Academy to any parent looking for a caring and professional learning environment for their child.

He had not been in daycare before and had a lot of separation anxiety when we'd had babysitters and when he first started full-time daycare. Susanna, and her assistant, Mebrat, dealt with this anxiety very well, redirecting him to other activities and keeping him busy. They do lots of different activities with the kids throughout the day, from making play dough and fake snow, playing with toys, singing songs and reading stories, to playing outside when the weather permits. She provides healthy meals and snacks too! She also sends us daily pictures of the kids having fun playing and learning. Susanna and Mebrat are always kind and nurturing and are able to make sure my son is always learning something new, is safe, happy, and healthy. I can tell that they really care and have a positive relationship with my son and all of the other children. I feel confident leaving my child in her care, knowing that he will be socializing with the other kids and learning while having fun!

Susanna is loving, grounded, and attentive; her home was a happy medium between the individualized attention my daughter would have gotten had she been placed with a nanny or family member and the rich stimulation and social interaction she would have gotten at a center-based daycare. Susanna cooks delicious, homemade food for the children everyday (breakfast and lunch) and provides snacks, too. I can't tell you what a time saver that was! The only reason we took our daughter out of Susanna's care was because we moved out of state and we haven't been able to find anything like it anywhere else. We miss Susanna so much!

Our family could not be happier or more fulfilled that we found Buenos Amigos (BA). We had…read moreexperiences with other daycares, but BA is simply remarkable. Most important is that they truly love and nurture the children under their care. We could see and experience this from the moment we dropped our son off on his first day. The teachers are kind, our children absolutely love them and call them their 'best friends,' and the whole staff works to ensure the kids learn, grow, are challenged in the right ways, and foster such a welcoming and supportive environment. Maria who runs the daycare pours her heart and soul into the program. She communicates frequently with parents with texts and emails in addition to the regular newsletters that inform parents about the food, schedules and activities for the children. We have three children there now, all who attended during the pandemic, and it was a rough challenge for Maria and her staff to juggle all the health concerns but there was never a doubt they were trying to accommodate everyone as best as they could. Also, for any families like ours who were not Spanish speaking, each of our three children now understand and speak Spanish (which is remarkable) and Maria and her leadership staff are bilingual and are able to communicate with English speaking families about anything they need. Just an example of how much of family/community atmosphere that Buenos Amigos fosters, each year they rent an auditorium and put on a few 'shows' with the kids who learn songs and dance routines and you can see how much your children and learning and growing every day. In sum, my wife and I could not recommend Beunos Amigos highly enough. We entrust our three children to them, and in a way consider them part of our family now.

The teachers are kind and affectionate (before they are fired for no good reason). Cons: Maria the owner is always telling lies. She lies to her staff about the reason for firing them, lies to parents about why she fires her staff (including making up weird stories in parents newsletters), and lies about a handful of other things too. She is also paranoid and vindictive -- she tries to get gossip from parents about other parents and from teachers about other teachers and punishes people based on what she learns. We will miss the teachers, but most of our favorite teachers are gone now anyway. Overall, there was way too much drama here and we would have been better off somewhere else -- I don't consider this a very professionally run or reliable daycare.

Both my kids absolutely loved it, and liked every single teacher they had. The staff obviously love all the kids and it really shows. They have thrived there. The staff tend to stay on; the pay and benefits and work environment seem quite fair. Gigi (the owner) and Karina (the director) worked really hard to try and make sure everyone kept getting paid during the early weeks of COVID, even when they had to be closed to all but essential personnel. Teachers get paid time off so if they are sick they don't have to put others at risk, etc. They all genuinely love and care about the kids. The current COVID measures are quite extensive-- honestly I think they are as good as one can possibly be in a group setting. And yet somehow they keep it feeling 'normal' for the kids. Rates and policies are very reasonable; and the kids learn a TON while having a great time (lots of outdoor play; arts and crafts; music etc). I feel so lucky my kids got to grow and thrive here.
