Visited last night. Son had orange chicken and teriyaki chicken and was very happy with the portion, freshness and taste. I had the spring rolls which were very good. I miss the days where they would scoop you out the hot sweet and sour sauce. Dealing with the packets is always a mess. I chose the unsweetened ice tea but it was totally empty. The whole drink station was a sticky mess. The young girl working there whipped up a new batch of iced tea and it was ready by the time I left. Tables were not wiped and were sticky. Not the worst experience but in a world where there are so many choices - I would work harder at providing a nicer cleaner environment. read more

Got to the drive thru with no one else in line and we had to wait almost 5 minutes to even get our order taken. It's like they didn't know we were even there. Once the girl was taking our order she was rushing us saying " is that all" after every individual item we ordered. Then we had to wait almost 10 minutes at the window before we could even pay. Then even longer for our food and they didn't say if we were waiting on fresh food and we didn't see anyone in the lobby at that time either. Ridiculous that they are so slow when it's clear that they aren't busy. And then rushing us when they finally decide to serve us. The food was good I will say that. Used to have good, fast service. The last couple of times we have ordered, we have ordered online and then gone to the restaurant to pick up at the time the food was supposed to be ready. First time back in March we had a 20 minute wait for food. Today it was a 30 minute wait. My husband finally talked to the manager who was sitting in his office NOT helping. I'm generally not a huge fan of junk food but it does hit the spot. It's really the staff that does it. They're super friendly and give you samples of everything which is super cool. But I generally know what I want. I can probably live off the Walnut shrimp forever. Manager here is extremely courteous and professional while running the joint. I'm so disappointed in how crappy this place has gone. Their customer service completely stinks. I believe there's only one person there who actually smiles and looks at you and she welcomes you. But that's it. You will wait for 10+ mins while they all move around, no one will acknowledge you, and they just push the drive through orders. Every once and awhile someone looks at you but they don't say anything they just look at you. The guy before me got sick of waiting and being ignored and left. By the time I was acknowledged and was in the middle of my order the one older guy pushed through the girl helping me and finished off both things I had already asked for. She seriously had half my order done. You could tell she was upset too and than I had to wait. While half my families food went cold. Quality of food has gone down hill too. Used to be one of my favorite places for fast food. You order chowmein and you get nothing but cabbage. The orange chicken once was crispy but not too crispy and now is nasty and squishy. Panda Express at this location has extremely S L O W service. The last three times I visited I was waiting 10s of minutes for one thing or other. Three visits ago I waiting 32 minutes to get my food and get checked out. Two visits ago I waited on food to be prepared and had to correct the server gal multiple times about what I ordered. This last time they served the food quickly but I waited 10ish minutes to get checked out. No one wanted to be the one to check me out - even after I asked to be served. Mask nazis. Even though the cook wasn't wearing one was refused service unless I put one on. I did so had to wait to be served even though we were the only ones in. Then they put my food on a used and unwashed tray covered in sticky sauce then had to ask for a straw for my drink which they then told me they were out of. Even though they are severely understaffed they are able to quickly and accurately make orders. Some days it's only 2 people working the whole stores but they still are able to help out and keep the store clean. Their covid response is great. As someone with asthma and at risk from covid it's comforting to see this is the only store with the customers wearing masks. read more

Well....as you know half the experience for eating out is what is surrounding you...the other half is the food. The food here, for what it is, is filling, tasty and nice portions. We have eaten here often since it opened. The people are energetic, eager to please and friendly overall. BUT!! One evening as we were ordering, the order was written on the backside of my plate. The cashier then read the order and rang it up...with his fingers handling the area where my food would go(was waiting for some food being cooked). Now I am not a germ freak, but think about it. He handles money, and those fingers are caressing the place where your food is going. I told them I would not accept that plate, so they got me another. One problem solved. As we ate, we watched another employee lifting the glass in front of the food steam table and SPRAYING it with glass cleaner, and wiping it down, while food was still in the steam table. So, if you like a bit of that tangy Windex flavor, Panda Express is your kind of eatery. Lastly, we observed an employee taking out bags of trash, returning, and going back behind the food service area...WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS!! At that point we just stopped eating and left. Sad to say, but this is probably the best Chinese food in Mchenry. Simply because it's handled properly and not old. The meat chunks are not chewy either like you get at most Chinese places in Mchenry. They are fresh and tender.. So what if the noodles aren't hot! I have been going to this PE every so often and had no issues. Today, I went there and got some fried rice. The rice tasted so horrible and disgusting that I knew immediately that they messed with my food. I called to speak to a manager/supervisor and Arturo answered. He offered for me to get more food if I came back in, so I asked for a gift card to make up for the money I spent on that rice. He refused, so I hung up on him. I love Panda, but our visit to this location was a disappointment. The floors were sticky and some of the selections looked like they'd been on the warmers for too long. Most of the tables were dirty and there was detritus on the floor as well. I give credit to the staff for being friendly and the food, overall, tasted good but they really need to improve the cleanliness. read more
