Pretty much non-existent air conditioning spanning months. Multiple visits it is incredibly uncomfortable to dine in. I don't know how anyone works indoors in this hot oven the air isn't really moving in. The food is decent to get at certain times of the day. Different out here than on West Coast. There, all the help seems to be Asian kids. Here, none. This Panda Express seems to overcook all the veggies. That may be why. Unimpressed. Decided to try out this location yesterday and noted that some of the food appeared burnt, especially the egg-rolls. Most of the employees looked annoyed to be taking food orders or even being at work in general. Got my food regardless and managed to find one of the very few clean tables near the front of the restaurant, every other table was dirty, which is concerning to me. If it's ok to leave the lobby a mess, how does the back of the restaurant look? Just a thought. For this experience I will be leaving my rating at the 1-star mark until I return to see if any changes have been made. read more

I was at the restaurant on 7/7/23 and the manager, Juliana, refused to take food orders unless they were on-line which takes the app. The server asked her if he could serve us and she told him no, only if it's on-line. I used to go to this place quite a bit when they first opened and he recently I just hadn't been interested in eating any of their food due to previous locations having lukewarm food, dirty tables, and workers who acted as though they did not want to be there. I was wanting something to eat on the way home I looked over as I was driving down Iowa and saw panda express and decided I would go in. First of all I got to be honest I don't like the location, and it really doesn't have anything to do with the food. It more has to do with where it is sitting. Although it sits close to a main road, the back of the building faces the road which means you can easily drive by it and not see it if you're not from the Lawrence area. It is also one of the only Locations I know of that doesn't have a drive-through. All the other panda express is have drive-through's except this one, which can become a problem if the weather is not in agreement with your stomach. This place is very busy, when I arrived I literally had to stand outside because they were online orders as well as walkins all waiting to be served at the same time. This alone made it hard to social distance. However the food was freshly cooked which is something they're not really known for in previous times. The staff were very friendly, their attitudes were well in place and it seemed as though they were happy to help, which this also was not the way it was in previous trips. To sum it all up, I don't think I'll come back to panda express mainly because of the prices, but as far as them stepping up their game a little bit from the last time that I had been they seem to step it up a little bit. read more

Unfortunately, this is the only panda express in town. The food is good and every now and then I get a craving for it. thing, each time I go in, they are out of something. And I mean, like utensils, chopsticks, at one point they were even out of bowls, and they had to put everything in to go containers. Today I went there shortly after they opened. There was no ice in the ice machine. So I asked her if she had any cold drinks that I could purchase separately. But she didn't have anything. I took my cup, and I went to get some ice tea that I knew would be lukewarm. There was no ice tea. I don't drink soda so I ended up getting lukewarm lemonade. it's interesting, they advertise for a store manager that pays up to 100,000 a year. For $100,000 a year I would expect the store manager to run a much better operation. This particular restaurant has not had chopsticks and probably the last two years, it's very poorly run read more

I never leave reviews, but this is literally the worst run business ever. They never have the popular menu items ready, there is always a wait. Don't order online, because everyone else in line will get their food before you even though you ordered 20 minutes prior. The employees never apologize when there is a wait and there always is. Purchased food and drinks. Went to fill up cup and no ice. Cashier who just sold me the drink says oh yes the ice machine is down. Went to get pop with no ice and no carbonation. She said I could have one bottle emphasizing the one like i was being unreasonable. I paid for two. It was carbonated but hot. I filed a complaint and they offered small entree to make it right. We stopped by to see if this store improved on their food and cleanliness. The serving staff all seemed to have the same name. All the servers had the same name on their nametag. We ordered teriyaki chicken and orange chicken with steamed vegetables. I was told they do not have any more vegetables. I pointed to the sign on the serving glass that states "if we do not have what you want, we will make it." They acted like it was a bother, but they started making some. I did not want to wait, so I asked for rice. It was very chewy. I did not eat it. Bottom line, your restaurant is not customer friendly, some food on the line is burnt or not available, and someone needs to clean the tables and floors. When it comes to Chinese Fast Food, Panda Express is usually a safe bet. Location and staff can make your experience enjoyable or turn the visit into a nightmare. Don't expect grade-A quality Chinese food often found in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and other big cities. We all know the saying: "It is what it is." The new Lawrence, Kansas location is not much different than all the other Panda Expresses. Tons of dark meat (chicken) selections, chewy beef dishes, unimpressive and salty rice dishes, overly sweet orange & sesame chicken dishes, overcooked veggies, sometimes greasy, sometimes dry dishes, and on and on and on. Oh yea, for some reason the Panda Express soda fountain drinks are always too syrupy and sweet. My recent meal wasn't terrible by any means. Rice, noodles, chicken, veggies, and crab rangoon. It was ok, but not outstanding. Always feel the need to run home and brush my teeth after eating at certain Chinese places. Can't explain it, but some of you know what I mean. So why 3 stars? Well, Panda Express is a big hit with young people and teenagers. Lawrence is the perfect town for Panda Express. They are always bright and clean establishments with plenty of hot food. Be sure to save your receipt and participate in the short survey in order to get a free entree on your next visit. Not the cheapest place in town, but I'd rather eat at Panda Express than Hy-Vee's Chinese Kitchen or some of the other disasters in Lawrence that offer so-called Chinese food. By the way; one of the best dishes ever served at Panda Express is their annual offering of 'Firecracker Chicken'. It's all white meat (breast) with a nice kick of dried red chillies found in East Asian cuisines. Why one of their best dishes are only offered occasionally, I have no idea. read more

For a chain restaurant, Panda is usually pretty good. Towards the later hours of the day, certain items start to run out and you get the impression they don't want to bother with cooking more. This usually only applies after 8:00pm, in my experience, so it can be a bummer if you can't eat until late at night. Service can be hit or miss, as they don't seem to staff it enough. Usually one person is working the kitchen and the other is running the register and making your order on the food line, so expect a wait if they are busy. Overall, not bad for a chain. read more

I asked for teriyaki chicken, she said we are out of chicken....like, no more chicken tonight. I said ok. I should have left right then.
