To my suprise the wontons arrived in a delicious and warm broth, keeping them perfectly moist and plump. The broth was so delicious even on a hot day, tasting faintly of sesame and scallion. Despite both dishes being pork they were so different and equally amazing in flavor. The pan fried potstikers which were CRISPED TO PERFECTION especially reminded me of black bean shortribs that you get from dimsum, fatty but hearty and had me wanting more and more each bite. The minced pork noodles were to no suprise, so good. Noodles tasted fresh, the sauce was umami with mushrooms and pork. While im not the biggest fan of mushrooms, i still ate it up. I feel it would be so good with some picked cabbage too to complement the saltiness. Most notable thing... THAT CHILI OIL. We probably used almost half the jar left at the table. It wasnt spicy at all, but it had this flavor that i genuinely have never tasted before. The texture of the chilli and sesame and the nutty flavor had me in awe. The juicy pork dumplings as well as the spicy wontons were also a fan favorite amongst the entire family. While the dumpling skins were a bit thicker than I would have preferred, it was very meaty and the sauces were tasty. The full flavor of each delicacy was better than I remember. While I thoroughly enjoyed each and every "little heart", I was so very happy to see that Ixlb Dim Sum uses chunks of real shrimp in the Har Gow. Recently, I've noticed a switch at other places to shrimp paste. They might fill the rice wrapper, but when you break it open, it's paste. At Ixlb, the quality was obvious. And that was true for each dish. While I'm basking in the glow that is this culinary delight, I notice a lady and gentleman walking around the tables, greeting customers, exchanging pleasantries and making sure everything stays clean and inviting. Ah! The heart of the business! Lovely people! Before I almost forget about continuing to my friend's house, I grabbed TWO MORE orders. The beautiful, graceful lady I assume to be one of the owners I saw earlier, hands me one bag, then I point to the other. She does a double take and realizes, indeed, they are both mine. This makes her smile even brighter. I rub my belly and proclaim proudly, 'HO HO SIC!' In cantonese this means 'the most delicious to eat' and I mean it. Her eyes go big with surprise and we both laugh and she nods, knowingly. I am definitely NOT the first to tell her this and I won't be the last. For my friend, I brought the signature Xiao Long Bao-5pc, Edamame, Baked Char Siu Bao-3pc, Chicken Siu Mai(again), Har Gow(again) and Baked Egg Custard Tarts-3pc. Then, I hid some goodies for me "for later": Sesame Balls(yes, I KNOOOOW, I have a problem!) and Vegetarian Garlic Noodles - YUM!!! When I got to her house and opened everything up she asked, 'Who's going to eat all this?!' 'Oh saaa-weetie! No need to worry about a thing and there's MORE where this came from!' The place has rose up lighting which is flattering to everyone. It's like Chinese submarine lighting. Tastefully redone. Attentive service. Good food. Has all the makings for a great first date.
