Staple was left inside of the take out box

I found a staple in my orange chicken after I microwaved it at home so I could've gotten very sick or hurt from the lack of effort of the employees to deliver me safe food to eat. I am very mad about this incident and the manager there didn't help me at all with this. I will not be ordering from ANY panda express again!

    Receipt for "lost" orange chicken.

On May 26, 2024 I placed an order as indicated on the attached receipt. Some how, some way, they neglected to include the orange chicken with my order. Which was especially odd since there was a large empty space in my container where there obviously should have been food. I called the restaurant to let them know they forgot to give me my orange chicken. After 20 calls (yes, I literally called them exactly 20 times before someone picked up the phone at about 7:00PM), the guy who answered the phone promised he would refund my credit card for the missing item. Did he do that? Of course not. I suspect that after he hung up the phone he immediately and purposefully blew me off. So I went to the Panda app and filed a claim. Not once. Not twice. But three times. Over a two week period. Panda Express corporate has also blown me off. All I wanted was a refund of $4 or $5 for the missing food. I'm not an unreasonable person, and I understand that mistakes happen. However, being blown off continuously really, really, REALLY pisses me off. So I just filed a chargeback with my credit card company for the entire order amount. This will cost Panda Express $18.80, plus a typical $25 chargeback fee from their credit card processor. I sincerely didn't want to go this route, but since Panda Express can't take care of this on their own I'll take care of it for them. Being ignorant is expensive, and in this case the price for Panda Express is going to be almost $45.

i ordered a plate with 2x chow mein, orange chicken and honey walnut shrimp. this is what i received.

Very delicious food, super kind employees, and a clean interior. A crowded location, so you may find yourself waiting in line for a while.

Food is good but super slow even though there are SEVEN employees working. I've been to other Panda locations that are much faster.

The food is very good. Tasty, spicy, filling and reasonably priced considering what you get. Staff is fine. I typically eat at the bar if I am alone and it's very comfortable. There's ample seating if you prefer. Only complaint is that, like Franks, they close for a couple of hours after lunch so you have to check your watch if you are hungry to make sure they will be open. But I can certainly understand why they do this. They open at around 11:00 and close up at 21:00 so that's a lot of hours unless they are running more than one shift. Ordering can be a tad obnoxious and they are clearly targeting a hipster clientele. For those of us who are hearing disabled and do not have a cell phone the QR code ordering scheme can be a total turn off. They will, however, accommodate senior geezers like myself who enjoy not being tethered to a screen. So that's another plus for Franks: an actual person seats you and takes your order.

Typically at most Chinese restaurants, especially fried dishes, you'll see a pool of oil at the bottom of the dish. This is not the case here, and their sauces also keep their oil usage to the minimum. The food doesn't feel as heavy, and they nail most of their Szechuan flavors well. Their service is always fast and friendly. There is a gentleman in glasses that is always happy to serve and answer your questions. He is always happy to pack your food for you to go if you have leftovers as well, which is a lovely gesture. They have very cute decorations inside, from lucky cats with fortune cookies in their mouths, or a painted wall with a Panda cooking delicious food. I'd steer clear from their soup dishes, most of them lack flavor. I highly recommend their Chopped Pepper Fish and their Jade Tofu items though. Very flavorful and not very heavy! Plenty of parking is available which is lovely for eating in Portland, do not let this spot be missed if you've never tried it!

The portion sizes were generous for the price. I'm not very good with extremely spicy food, so I ended up drinking a lot of water. The staff kept coming by to refill my glass without me even asking, which I really appreciated. Everyone was very friendly. The restaurant itself is casual, bright, and spacious.

There are booths where you order food to come cooked, and then the hot pot tables where you order the ingredients and cook them yourself. It's very interactive, and they have plenty of meats, vegetables, tofu, dumplings and noodles. You can choose the broth you want at the beginning and they'll bring out the pot. Each pot is split in 2, so you order one regular broth and then a spicy broth. They also have a veggie broth, which I really enjoy. You can grab things from the salad bar, and they have different sauces/oils you can take and add to your soup. You're able to really customize the experience. It's a fun little experiment you get to do with your friends and family. The space itself is busy with customers walking around and staff brining drinks and food, but it's not crazy. We joke that the steam from the soup is a nice facial treatment. Lol. You can end the night with an ice cream cone and lollipop in the waiting room. I've been a few times, and I will say the first time is overwhelming with trying to figure out what to do, but after that you get more confident and interested in curating a soup that's to your taste.

The server didn't bother to ask if we understood how to order and were super unhelpful every time we asked a question, kind of waving us off. Apparently you place an order and have to wait 20 minutes before you can place another order? What? I've been to kbbq plenty of times and have never been met with this delay. We got their original soup base and curry base. Both were mid. Not very flavorful until the very very end when we had finished cooking and were ready to leave. Maybe eating boiled meat just isn't for me, but I feel like everything was pretty bland and tasteless. The best part of the meal was the ice cream we grabbed on the way out imo. They gave us $20 off coupons randomly, said we couldn't use them that night. Probably a ploy to get us to go back, but not even with a discount like that would I go back. Straight to the trash. Save yourself and go to kbbq or the Asian buffet that's 10 min away. Disappointing night out with the fam.

The smashed cucumber salad was super refreshing -- lots of garlic, crunchy, and exactly what you want after hours in the car. The green onion pancakes came out crispy and satisfying, but my favorite was the wood ear mushroom. They did something to it that made it insanely umami and savory, like a dish you keep thinking about later. The fried rice was solid and full of flavor, and you could tell the kitchen cared. The dining room was pretty empty when we went, so maybe it's newer or underrated, which feels unfair because the food deserves more people. Parking around there is kind of a hassle and the neighborhood isn't the prettiest, but this is a definite stop for me next time I'm in Portland.

Shoutout to everyone still working on Thanksgiving Day! Because of hardworking folks like you,…read morepeople who don't celebrate holidays like me can still eat out. I'm super grateful. Before coming, I did my homework and checked reviews on Chinese review website. The opinions were kinda extreme, some said it was terrible, others said it was amazing. Since it was only a 1 minute walk from my hotel and actually open on Thanksgiving, I went for it. I ordered jalapeño beef 小炒牛肉, veggie chow mein 蔬菜炒面, and string beans 干煸四季豆. The beef came out first, and the first bite surprised me. It didn't taste like the jalapeño beef from other Sichuan restaurants. It tasted exactly like Cantonese beef with gailan, but with green bell peppers instead. Instead of tingly spicy, it had a subtle sweetness. If you're Cantonese, you probably know exactly what I mean. The veggie chow mein was good and reminded me of late night street noodles in Guangzhou, and it also had a slightly sweet touch. The string beans were good too, and didn't have any sweetness. There was some savory minced pork in it. If you're not a strict vegetarian and don't mind a little meat in the dish as long as you only eat the veggie part, go for this one, it was flavorful. While having dinner, I overheard Cantonese in the kitchen between the chef and staff, and ahhh, that explains why I tasted the Cantonese flavor in my dishes! It also explains the two types of extreme reviews. So let me be honest, if you come here expecting the Sichuan/Hu'nan version of stir-fried beef with a strong spicy profile, you might be disappointed. But for me, it was honestly a lucky hit. I did see some Sichuan spicy dishes on the menu, but I didn't order them, so I can't say if they're authentic. But based on what I ordered tonight, I was happy with everything.
