Pancheros is better than Chipotle in my opinion and here is why. They use fresh made tortillas. They also mix the ingredients before rolling it up. This particular locations not in the best area because the parking lot can get crazy especially during lunch rush. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. If you miss Chipotle's former glory, enter Pancheros. The most massive burritos, reasonable prices, impeccable quality, and SO flavorful! Even the rice was seasoned beautifully. The Tofurizo and chicken are unbelievable, and hands down the BEST queso I've had at a burrito shop. Every tortilla is made to order! So if you order a burrito they take a ball of dough, flatten it, and toss it on the grill. The result is the most pillowy soft, tender, chewy tortilla I've ever had. Literally unreal. They also MIX YOUR BURRITO FILLING before rolling! Every time! Gone are the days of 3 mouthfuls of pain rice before getting to your sour cream. It's all blended for even flavor distribution. Jose and his team are friendly and very efficient. The place is always clean and I've never seen them run out of something (last time I went to Chipotle they were out of rice and said they didn't intend to make more...) My first time trying Pancheros and it didn't disappoint! I was encouraged to order a burrito, even though I always get bowls at chipotle. My friend mentioned that this spot isn't like chipotle, so the burrito is a must-- and I did. They have dough ready for when you order a burrito, they put it on the flat griddle to make your tortilla-- so fresh! I had a chicken burrito with veggies, cheese, green salsa, sour cream, corn and tomato. It was so good, I believe the fresh tortilla and delicious green sauce gave my burrito an amazing flavor. I was introduced to this place by my boyfriend and I must say that the food is delicious! It actually has alittle bit of a chipolte style setup which i dont mind at all. I came to the Bloomington location at 8:52. The man working was RUDE AS SHIT. A man came in behind me at 8:56 and the crabby man came and locked the door behind me as I left. BEFORE CLOSE. There was two different groups of two people that came up BY 9:00 and the door had been locked for minutes already. That's four customers lost. And another one upset for getting treated so poorly. I used to make tortillas for a living and he kept pushing the dough press down so hard and fast then getting mad it ripped. Chipotle has been sucking ever since the beginning of Covid, so I thought I would give Pancheros a shot again. I was very disappointed to say the least. City of Bloomington Inspections - formal complaint. I was at the Bloomington location the evening of approximately August 25th and they had the grill pulled back from the wall with a ladder behind it. They started making my tortilla and then a guy got on the ladder and started spraying down and cleaning the overhead hood with some typed of red-tinted liquid. I could see droplets falling on the grill and my tortilla. I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. The manager was standing right there. When I objected to what was going on to her, she initially did not say or do anything. Then she said that maybe the employee should not be doing it right now. You think ? I left without taking delivery of my burrito - by choice. I lodged a formal complaint with City of Bloomington inspections department the next day. I have been eating there for awile, sometimes late in the day but it seems like it is very messy by that time and they are out of certain items, which I have complained about before. Recent example - they had no vegetables left and the guy got agitated when I asked for some. Based on the most recent incident, I probably will not eating there again. read more

They also have a patio outside for those who love to sit in the sun on a nice summer MN day. I'm going to admit I am a bit biased because I have grown up on Panchero's being from Iowa City where the original Panchero's was created. I was very happy to learn that they began to franchise the business since I only get back to Iowa City a few times a year to visit family. I like Chipotle just fine, however, I would pick Panchero's any day of the week. We were just at the Bloomington location today and it made me remember how much I love this place. Why? 1. The tortillas are better. Fresh pressed, heated on the grill, delicious. 2. Queso. Queso and chips. Yes, the chips can be a bit salty but the fact that they have queso - good queso, to boot - is just a step ahead of any competitor. 3. Fresh veggies outside of just peppers and onions. When I want a vegetarian burrito, I like being able to have a a bigger variety of fresh veggies especially the red peppers. 4. Quesadillas that aren't just on the kids menu. Sometimes I just want a simple quesadilla and Panchero's delivers that. There is not a Panchero's close to where I live in the north metro (can someone change that, please?!), but my husband and I will travel to the south metro to grab this for lunch when we are really feeling a hankering. read more

The first time on a Thursday evening around dinner time, leaving shortly after arriving because the guy working said they ran out of rice and we would have to get something that didn't include rice in it (seriously? You're a Mexican restaurant and your specialty is burritos and burrito bowls, what am I supposed to order w/o rice in it?). I came back a few weeks later on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. I ordered a steak burrito and a steak burrito bowl. What I really liked about this place is that they make their tortilla right there on the spot (dough and all!), but I think that's the only plus side to this place. The steak was dry and flavorless, they gave me hardly any rice in the burrito bowl and burrito. Save your money and time.
